Interaction with Guests
We are more than happy to answer any questions you have and welcome you to contact us if you have any concerns.
Our neighborhood is a country setting with most properties in the area being between 2-6 acres in size. The road down from the highway is a slow country road that sees our neighbors walking their dogs, riding horses, doing exercise walks, and kids learning to ride their bicycles. From Highway to the bay, the road is about 1 mile long, and our farm is located about halfway to the bay.
Maui's North Shore is a rugged shore with breath taking views. The coastline is a mix of cliffs and rocky shores. Pilale (sweetheart) Bay is about 1/2 mile from our property. Many people like to sit at the top and enjoy the panoramic views and exceptionally clear water of the bay. Some of our adventurous guests enjoy hiking down the path to the secluded shore.
Our location is 5 miles away from the World Famous Big Wave surf spot "Jaws." And 8 miles away from one of the World's Best Windsurfing beaches, Ho`okipa Beach Park. We are also about 7 miles away from the quaint country town of Haiku that has several great restaurants and small shops.
There is no public transit that comes out this far, so a rental car is highly recommended.
Other Things to Note
Close enough for a short day drive to the south side of the island to visit the "tourist" beaches, but you can still get back to the country to get out of the hustle and bustle and get back to the natural and beautiful version of Hawaii.
Our unit is non smoking.
We ask that our guests be respectful of our land and to not make lots of crazy loud noises late at night.
Such a beautiful, peaceful, serene escape! The windows and views are perfect to see the surrounding natural foliage, and we watched the sunrise comfortably from our bed each morning. The property is fun to explore and there's a great hike at the end of the neighborhood that leads right down to the bay. I would ABSOLUTELY stay again!! Thank you!
This is such a wonderful place. Mary is an amazing host - she's very kind & had so many suggestions for us for places to eat, things to do, the best beaches, etc. Also, her sweet dog & talkative cat are adorable. This is paradise! If we make it back to Maui, we would definitely stay here again.
I only got to spend two nights here, but my time at this property was magical. Mary greeted me upon arrival (Jeremiah was out of town), gave me a tour and showed me all the particulars of my little studio. She went out of her way to tell me about local points of interest, and generally made me feel right at home.
The studio is lovely and much larger than the photos lead you to believe. The kitchen is appointed with all the essentials, and Mary left me two farm-fresh eggs in the fridge along with a few fresh tropical fruits from her farm. The lanai off the kitchen was fully in bloom; I couldn't have asked for a nicer place to take my morning coffee. The air and the energy of her farm are fresh, serene, and deeply comforting, and Tigger the Cat reinforced all those feelings with his friendly presence. I look forward to going back, and hopefully enjoying a longer stay :).
Details: You could comfortably sleep and dine at least four here. There is enough equipment to cook, and there is a grill outside. The whirlpool tub feels good after a long day of hiking. The bathroom has emergency essentials like sunscreen and bugspray, reinforcing the "home away from home" feeling. It's clean, and it's a short walk from the parking area to the studio. Convenient to the Road to Hana, Maui's north shore, the airport, and parts of central Maui.
We had a very enjoyable stay. Mary was a wonderful, friendly, knowledgable host who provided us with great insights, fresh foods, and definitely enhanced our visit to Maui. Highly recommended if you want to escape the tourist traps.
We had such an amazing time here! Mary and Jeremiah both were awesome about contacting us and keeping in touch. Mary was so incredibly sweet making sure we were comfortable and even moved us to a more amazing place because the walkway would be easier on my bad knee! We could not have asked for a better place to stay and we can't wait to come back and stay here again!
Jeremiahs place looks even better than the pictures. The view from the bed area must be seen to be believed. The property is just s very short hike from ridiculously good views of the rocky bay below. We didn't get a chance to hike down to shore, but our view was more than enough. The place is also well stocked and Mary, Jeremiahs mother, is extremely helpful.
A couple of things to note, however: 1. the place doesn't feel all that private. Since there isn't AC, the windows will be open and you can hear others passing outside of the windows in the bedroom and bathroom to get to the other apartments on the property. So if you are looking for a feeling of privacy, this one may not be for you.
2. This place, as with most places on this side of the island, is isolated, meaning you probably won't have cell service. Furthermore, the wifi is not all that fast, so it isn't necessarily a good substitute. There is satellite TV with all the movie channels however. I was on island with some other people, so this was somewhat of an issue for me. I realize that most people don't have the same situation, but just know that you will be off grid ahead of time.
All in all, the views and the price make this place worth it to anyone who is planning to explore the wilder side of Maui.
We loved staying here and we did not want to leave! It is a beautiful piece of property and the view from the house is great. Our host was very friendly and informative and made sure that we had everything that we needed. I highly recommend this place to anyone who would like to spend time in the Haiku area. Thank you for having us!
