About this listing
This super-hidden, crazy private cottage is an amazing little thing. Your own tiny house!
Hard wood everything, loft bedroom that walks out onto a second-story porch, and easy access to the hippest stuff in Austin!
It's a for-real tiny house, eclectic all-wood floors and walls. The downstairs is a living room, kitchen, and bathroom, and the ladder leads to an attic bedroom with access to the upstairs porch! Please keep in mind that this is a house actually made out of wood, and despite regular and professional cleaning it is a little dusty. Please do not confuse this for dirty!
The entire inside of the tucked-away property is a secluded garden area surrounded by high fencing. Hang out nude!
Wifi, street parking, private kitchen & bathroom
I'm always available to chat or hang out or whatever! Check my other Airbnb property and you'll see that I'm a font of great info.
The Holly Street area is, scientifically, the best neighborhood in Austin. Cool peeps, fun stuff happening, other fun stuff in easy casual distance.
Rainey Street, Dirty 6th, and Hipster East 6th bar scenes are all a short walk (or shorter bike ride!) away.
The bus stop is totally nearby. That said, we may be able to round up a couple bikes- everything is very close and it's a very safe neighborhood.
Be clean & courteous to the space! The whole thing was very lovingly built by hand by the original owner, and we are very careful to maintain it's charm.
Please sign our guest book when you leave!
No parties, no extra guests, no animals.
Please do not smoke cigarettes in the house or on the porch. If you do smoke, please throw your butts away rather than leave them in the yard or on the street.
And of course, be respectful & courteous of the neighbors- they have young kids & go to bed early :)
This place was perfect. It was cozy and adorable and had all the necessities you need. Walking distance to Austin's bars and restaurants, I loved the neighborhood! Jason was super helpful and came by the house when we were having internet problems, he was great and I would hands down repeat this experience.
We loved staying in the cabin! It was a great location- if we didn't feel like walking, ubers were $5 to downtown. The neighborhood was very quiet and had so much character- it was nice to feel like a local. I wouldn't have enjoyed staying anywhere else more than I enjoyed the cabin. Jason was there when we arrived to the place. He noticed we were having a bit of a hard time finding it. He walked us there and gave us some history on the place. Then he finished up making the bed and cleaning, and didn't mind that we hung out and chatted. There was some toiletries there to use as well as other helpful things like maps and austin books and coffee creamer. Im so glad we stayed there and will be looking it up again next time were in town. Thanks of the stay!
Jason is fantastic. He was just as I hoped, prompt with replies and of course his hospitality was as big as Texas. This little cabin/treehouse is a gem. It looks EXACTLY like the pictures, so cute and fun!! I felt like a kid again there with my daughter in the upstairs loft! When you get up the ladder, there is a little walkway to the right with a glass door that Raquel described as "like being in Alice in Wonderland" where you can go outside on the upper deck. We absolutely loved sitting up there at night and being right in the middle of a tree! As my daughter went to her convention during the day, I spent most of mine in the cabin snuggled up on that beautiful green couch enjoying the solitude. The bonus, well you are a million miles from anyone in the cabin "compound" but 2 seconds from downtown East Austin. Just as Jason described, you can literally walk anywhere. Downtown, the people are friendly and I can truly say that Texas is one of the nicest states I've ever had the pleasure to be in. If your looking for some city fun but want relaxing solitude, this little gem is it!! How I described it to my family, well it was like I was back on Granny's Riverlot in Withlacoochee FL. It will bring back child hood memories and still afford you the finer places in life to go to within minutes of cabin/treehouse. There is a courtyard in the front of the cabin that is completely enclosed and it is just a lovely place to sit and relax. I will be staying again. Thank you Jason for all of your kindness and Texas hospitality!!!
This was a great place to act as a home base for my first weekend visit to Austin with my boyfriend. First off, it was well-hidden within the alleyway of the neighborhood so we had a lot of privacy despite being right behind someone's house! The location was superb, we were only a few minutes from the downtown Austin area- not to mention the awesome local restaurants and coffee/tea shops within walking/biking distance. The aesthetic of the cabin was the clubhouse of our childhood dreams, we were so excited once we entered the place. The loft area that housed the bed was my favorite bit, it was so cute and cozy. The fact that it had running water, electricity, air conditioning, a lot of lighting, and its own WIFI just made our weekend stay much more comfortable. Our host even supplied us with amenities like toiletries, city guidebooks, maps, etc., and encouraged us to use anything that was left in the cabin at our disposal. Even though our communication was only restricted to text messaging with the host, I liked the fact that we were pretty independent upon checking-into the cabin as we were given great instructions in how to get there and whatnot. The only detracting point was the initial state of cleanliness upon our arrival. To elaborate, it was not that the cabin was a mess, it's very well-kept throughout but details of the cabin needed some TLC such as proper dusting and sweeping. If you are fussy about absolute cleanliness in the places you stay at, just bear that in mind. Overall, we loved that the cabin itself added to the Austin experience! Thanks for the opportunity! This is definitely a place to recommend to anyone who likes to be a bit adventurous on their trip to Austin. :)
Our experience at Jason's cabin was absolutely amazing! The place is lovely and quirky, had everything we needed for our stay in Austin! We felt right at home. Jason was very helpful and friendly, even invited us to his birthday party :) We will be visiting Austin again and we will be staying in the hidden magical cabin again! Great experience
Jason and Maria's cabin was a great place to stay for the weekend in Austin!!! AC kept us cool, full kitchen allowed us to cook, bed was comfortable. We did not have a chance to actually meet Jason (they were busy with their new baby, congrats!), but he was extremely helpful and responsive to texts, and left a few items: shampoo, beer, etc. to make us more comfortable - Great! There's even a deck upstairs to sit out at night when Austin cools down :) Thanks SO much and if we come back we will definitely stay again!
I can't emphasize enough how pleasant this Airbnb was. The cabin itself is adorable (we felt like Robinson Crusoe!), and it was very cozy for the two us while we stayed there. The loft bed and roof deck were fun to access, and our hosts left us a nice note with plenty of amenities to make sure we had everything we needed (plus great books to read - loved having PORK magazine to check out). Check-in/out was also a breeze. The neighborhood itself is incredible - super quiet, and we were able to walk or take a short Lyft ride anywhere we wanted to go, including more fantastic food options than we could have possibly visited. This is a great place to stay in Austin, and I would recommend it to anyone!
