Interaction with Guests

If you enjoy your privacy, this is the place. You may rarely see another guest except in passing or you may meet someone you enjoy talking with. Knowledgable hosts take care to not intrude but are available to answer any questions or concerns. A guide book written and updated by the hosts is provided with map of Centro Historico. It includes tips, phrases, restaurants and points of interest in the center and surrounding areas. Your comfort and enjoyment is our top concern.

The Neighborhood

This 300 year-old neighborhood is one of the oldest and most respected in the historic center. It has the advantage of being a residential block so it provides a quiet haven just a 30 second walk to the main plaza. We are told the ex-governor's sister lives on this block with several other long-time residents.

Getting around

Everything you need is within a two-block walk - access to taxis, buses, restaurants and cafes, a French bakery, shopping, convenience stores, laundry and pharmacies. Taxis range from $4 to $8 USD and will take you anywhere you want to go in Queretaro. The bus station is 10 minutes away and is a hub for transportation most anywhere in Mexico. The Queretaro International Airport is 30 minutes away and a taxi is about $30 to our house.

Other Things to Note

The Historic Center is the place to be if you want to experience the culture. With several conservatories of music (one is one block from us), there are fine musicians in abundance. Several concert venues are just a few blocks from our door. Cultural activities are ongoing throughout the year. There are ample cafes in which to sit and chat and interact with the locals. Many Spanish students choose to stay with us from the Queretaro Language School, just a 3 or 4 minute walk.

I am a trained chef and I love to write about my experiences in Mexico and with cooking. I have many years of experience renting rooms. I enjoy people and I enjoy exchanging ideas and sharing what I know about an area of interest a guest may have. English is my first language and I have lived in the US most of my life. I have lived in Mexico sometimes full-time and sometimes part-time since 2004.
