We will send you all the information needed including: confirmation of dates and payment, directions to the condo, house rules, and contact information. We also have a house manager who lives on the island just a few miles down the road that can assist in an emergency. Aloha!

The Neighborhood

What I love about Kuilima is the green, lush beauty that is just iconic Hawaii and the outdoor activities available near the condo. There is great surfing right in front of the hotel off the point (in front of the hotel pool), there are great hiking and mountain biking trails, horseback riding, golfing on 2 PGA golf courses, there is good snorkeling at Kuilima cove from the beach to the east of the hotel, and there are a lot of options in restaurants and bars at the Turtle Bay Hotel.

Getting around

Most people who come and stay at the Kuilima condos rent a car in Honolulu and drive up to the north shore. This is what I recommend honestly because it is the best way to truly explore the north shore beaches, Haleiwa town, the Dole Pineapple plantation and all of the other tourist attractions on the north shore. There is 1 free parking spot reserved for the condo unit and there is guest parking as well. There is also a great bus system simply called "The Bus" on the island which travels all the way around the island at regular intervals. This is a circle island bus which costs about $2.50 each way. The bus can get you anywhere you need but The Bus is on "island time" and it can take 3-4 hours to travel around the entire island. Renting a car will give you the best mobility and will allow you to explore more efficiently. There are also scooter and bike rentals at the Turtle Bay Hotel if you are interested.

Other Things to Note

Kuilima and the North Shore in general is quite a different place than Honolulu and Waikiki. It is almost like a different island. Things move at a much slower pace up in "the country" and those visitors that relax and accept the slow pace of life and embrace it will be greatly rewarded. There are no shopping malls or high-rise buildings and the residents have fought hard to keep the north shore that way. Keeping the North Shore "country" means ensuring that the North Shore maintains that old Hawaiian feeling and spurning large unsustainable development which could devastate the North Shore's fragile environment. No, don't expect shopping malls, skyscrapers or las vegas strip style attractions. What you can expect is a tropical paradise and an outdoor lover's paradise. There are about a dozen of the most beautiful beaches in the world, amazing snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, hiking, small boutique shopping in Haleiwa, friendly traditional people and great hawaiian food. If you come to the North Shore with the right expectations you will never want to leave! Finally, I highly recommend visiting the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie for demonstrations of traditional Polynesian cultural dancing, crafts and customs. There are 8 or 9 Polynesian villages showcasing the customs of different Polynesian islands including: Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, New Zealand, Tahiti and of course Hawaii. The highlight of the day is the luau and the amazing night show which features fire dancers! Much of the entrance fee goes towards helping the dancers and performers attend college. It is a great experience while on the island and it is for a good cause as well. The only thing of great need that is not located at Kuilima is a grocery store but there is a Foodland grocery store located just 7 minutes away by car in either Laie or there is one in Sunset Beach; about the same distance away.

  • This spacious one bedroom condo is in a good location to experience all that the North Shore has to offer. It is almost within walking distance of a beautiful, clear, protected swimming cove with at least one resident turtle, and it is within an easy drive of the famous surfing beaches. It is very quiet, comfortable, and well-maintained. The owner has taken a lot of care to make this a top-notch place to stay. I wish I could have stayed longer.

  • Beautiful condo! Loved our stay. Host was exceptionally easy to work with. Great spot! Watched the sunrise on the patio. Every morning!
Note: AC in the bedroom is noisy. If your a light sleeper you might have to turn it off.

    Would definetely stay here again!

  • The condo was a fantastic place to stay! We were attending the Wanderlust festival at the Turtle Bay resort so it was just a short walk there, which was super convenient. The condo itself is impeccably clean with everything you might need for your stay. The information cards were also extremely helpful for knowing how to use appliances & other handy hints. Douglas was always prompt & friendly in all our communications. I would highly recommend this property to people visiting the north shore of Oahu.

  • Just returned from a week in Oahu, and the condo was great! It had everything we needed and was exactly as pictured and described. Walking distance to a great cove for swimming/snorkeling, and easy drive to the big waves of Waimea Bay and Pipeline.

  • This condo was exactly as it was described. The kitchen came fully equipped with everything you need, even some seasonings to cook with so we also left ours there to share with future guests! It is literally next to Turtle Bay Resort where we walked to for dinner and drinks. Our friends said the pullout couch was very comfortable and the bed we slept at in the bedroom was also great! Your backyard is the golf course and was a nice view to wake up to. It was very clean and comfortable. Douglas was a pleasure to rent from and responds very quickly. He even gave us great tips for stuff to do around North Shore! We can't wait to come back!

  • I've stay at Douglas condo with my boyfriend for 10 days and we were very satisfied about everything from the start.
It was our first time in Hawaii and he gave us a lot of directions on the places to go and things to do, very nice of his part.
Douglas was very responsive since our first contact, which was a very important thing to us. He was really clear and truly about his place that is located on a beautiful and very safe resort.
The condo is pretty enough for a couple and contains all the utensils that you need to spend some days like we did.
We found it very comfortable and nice.
Definitively would recommend for anyone and would stay here again on a future trip.
A place to relax and enjoy your trip!
    Mahalo!

About
My name is Douglas; I was born and raised in California. One thing people know about me is that Hawaii is my favorite place in the world. I have had the great fortune of traveling to over 75 countries and Hawaii is still my favorite destination by far. I fell in love with the place when I decided to attend college on Oahu's North Shore. Hawaii was like nothing I ever experienced: the people were friendly, the water was clear and warm just like the air and there never seemed to be any shortage of outdoor activities. While in college I fell in love with the sport of surfing and started surfing the North Shore every day after school. I also took a real interest in the Polynesian people and culture. This interest has taken me to various parts of Oceania besides Hawaii including: Tahiti, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea and Fiji. Fortunately my friends and family all seem to share some of my passion for Hawaii and it has truly become a real gathering place for those close to me. When I'm not in Hawaii, I live in San Francisco, CA where I am a teacher and sales representative. I also lived in Brazil for two years doing volunteer work for my church; I speak fluent Portuguese and I'm learning Spanish. I would like to welcome you into my home and hopefully Hawaii will captivate you as it has me and you will truly feel the spirit of Aloha during your stay. Aloha and Mahalo!
