Description

The Space

Room dedicated to visiting artists (with free parking space in garage), within an art institution promoting projects in new art media / innovative discourses in the arts (Ectopia) - check our blog.

While not occupied by an artist in residence the room is available for visitors. A second room is available for an extra charge if you are more than two.

The room is in a flat in a central part of Lisbon, where we also have our office (used part time). The accommodation is registered (9671/AL), and therefore we can provide an invoice/receipt.

About the LOCATION:

One of the best locations in Lisbon concerning transports and the neighborhood.

It has a great location regarding transports: just across from a station of suburban trains and metro; and from the airport is 15 min / 7 euro by taxi (there are a couple of 4* hotels around due to this convenient location). The neighborhood has a good theatre, perhaps the one with the best program in the country, a cinema showing independent films (original language with subtitles), a sports complex with swimming pool, tennis courts, running tracks… and it is considered the best area of Lisbon in regards to its urban planning – with plenty of green areas between the buildings, local commerce, small cafés popular with the residents and actors. It is 2 minutes from Avenida de Roma that became in recent years one of the trendiest streets in Lisbon with a great ice-cream shop, nice shops and cafés (although most residents prefer the less expensive “local” ones).
Explore the neighborhood with (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Streetview - you will like it.

About the room and apartment:

It is brand new (I mean, it was built in the 50s, but we are running the flat since June when we redecorated it).
It is a 110 square meters apartment (three bedrooms and a large living-dining room), fully furnished.
It has a good sized kitchen, with a closed balcony to the back (facing a sort of small park) where there is a table with four chairs. The balcony (with windows open or closed depending on the weather) is the “unofficial” dining room as it is quite agreeable.
Next to the kitchen there is one large bathroom with bathtub with shower, and plenty of natural light.
One bedroom (yours) has a double bed and a large built-in wardrobe. It is about 13 sq. meters.
Another bedroom, that sometimes is used as an office (you can probably use it as office if nobody will need it during your stay), has the same size, but no wardrobe. This is the second room that can also be booked.
The kitchen and those two bedrooms face the small park at the back of the building and are away from the main street in the front (quieter).
Towards the front, with a large balcony, there is another room with the same size of the other two that is used as the office of Ectopia (our arts organization). There is one employee going there two days per week between 9h30 and 6h30pm. I also go to the office occasionally, In fact we are quite used to host artists (and other visitors from overseas), and will be happy to help - you will find some maps and guidebooks already waiting for you - please leave them for the following guests.
Finally, there is a lounge with two sofas and an easy chair, great to read; and a sort of dinning room with a large table, that we mainly use for meetings, but can be used as dining table.

The extras!!

We have free WiFi internet available.

Due to popular request we now provide a free Beach Pack: beach towels and a parasol (bring your own sunscreen).

In addition, we have someone coming to the apartment once a week to clean the floors and communal areas (including kitchen and bathroom). The floor of your room will be cleaned, and your towels changed at that time.

Guest Access

You are welcome to use all common areas, namely kitchen and living room. In fact, you will be probably on your own most of the time, because outside office hours (and only two days per week) people from Ectopia are not frequently in the apartment.

Please let me know in advance if you will need to use the covered car parking (free). It is free, but we will keep a deposit of 100€ for the remote control for the door (we will return the deposit when the remote is returned - sorry but it costs about 80€ to replace it!).

Interaction with Guests

I live in an apartment in the same building. As a consequence I am always available to give you some suggestions regarding my favourite places in Lisbon!
