About this listing

'La Mansarda del Sodo' is a typical Tuscan house, placed at the bottom of the hill in the archeological Etruscan area, 1,3 km from the center of Cortona: a lovely garden, 3 double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, living room, a fully equipped kitchen.

The space

**Make yourself at home in this charming top floor apartment in a typical old Tuscan stone house. The house is set in the Sodo's hamlet amidst the olive trees along a beautiful panoramic road leading to Cortona. Every room has its own bathroom. There is a fully equipped kitchen with electric induction stove (no gas, perfectly safe), oven, microwave oven, dishwasher, washing machine, for anyone who likes to cook while being on vacation. A cosy garden where you can enjoy relaxing dinners on a warm summer night or breakfast in the morning.

Guest access

One of our wonderful guests wrote about La Mansarda del Sodo: “The apartment - which feels more like a house - is spacious and very comfortable, with big (air-conditioned) bedrooms with beautiful views over the Tuscan countryside and a well-equipped kitchen. There's a very sweet garden with a great brick-built barbeque….The location is ideal - you drive up the hill to reach Cortona in a few minutes (or walk if you're feeling energetic!) - and you can also reach the surrounding vineyards and other hilltop towns with ease. It feels peaceful, but not remote, and provided us with a great base for exploring the local area”.

Interaction with guests

We always welcome our guests ourselves and my husband Paolo will be always there to provide assistance and any information needed.

It was such a pleasure to stay at the AirBNB apartment which is owned by Paolo and Daniella. The room was beautiful, clean, comfortable with an excellent kitchen, adequate hot water, comfortable bedroom with ancient windows that looked out on the Tuscan landscape. Rooms were comfortable, air conditioning and WiFi worked well. When we encountered a minor problem with AC, Paolo rapidly addressed it. The garden was as beautiful and peaceful as shown in the picture. We had a delightful lunch there, after a class on Tuscan cooking which Daniella led. Delicious local food. She took us to the markets in Cortona, and taught us to make pasta. Cortona is a beautiful preserved medieval town at the top of the hill. No cars, but good parking and even an escalator from the parking lot. We enjoyed the square both when bustling and when peaceful and quiet, with swifts flying over it as they had done for thousands of years. Daniella directed Susan on how to walk up the hill on an old Roman road. Great restaurants. But the best part of our stay was the chance to visit with our hosts. Paolo and Daniella were gracious, warm hearted, and greeted us with complete open ness. They showed us around the approaches to the city, made us feel very welcome. Because it was a national holiday, we needed help with groceries and car rental, and they provided this. Daniella's cooking class was a lot of fun, and led to a great lunch. We greatly valued the chance to talk with them, and were pleased to learn from their thoughtful insights. We wish that we could have stayed for a week! Staying at this apartment was one of the high points of a 3 week trip in Europe.

The hosts were wonderful. We spent hours in the garden with them ,discussing both Italian and American issues, over several bottles of wine. Many walking trails, and Paolo even took us on a walking tour of the area, showing us the olive groves, and the nearby oil making process . Accommodations were just as depicted ,wth the garden area being special. Location was perfect,as Cortona is a lovely town, and all of Tuscany and Umbria were within an hour's drive.
