Guests love staying in this very cozy & comfortable loft. The skylight provides wonderful natural light & the space is very well laid out to create your own private little nest! A large desk, comfy bed and leather reading chair await you!
This bright loft is equipped with a large desk, wireless internet (with access to a printer), a very comfortable single bed with a reading light and bedside table, shelving with baskets for storing clothes, comfy leather recliner beside bookcase with interesting books. Privacy blinds and curtains have been added for your comfort.
Self-serve breakfasts include a variety of warm and cold cereal, brown eggs, toast, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, tea, coffee or milk and often some baked goods. Long-term guests typically buy their own food and have kitchen privileges, including some storage space in the fridge and cupboards.
My townhouse is located in a park-like setting in NW Richmond, on a bus route, only 10 minutes from the Richmond Centre Mall and the Skytrain that takes you to downtown Vancouver or to the airport. We are located within walking distance to the North and West Dykes (beautiful to walk along the ocean). Shopping is nearby as well. Charming, historic Steveston is just down #1 Road, a few minutes away by bus.
I've gathered lots of tourist information including maps, guidebooks etc. They're awaiting your arrival :)
I live here with my 24 year old son, who works a lot. We love hosting people from all over and really enjoy younger guests as well more mature guests. I speak French and English.
Airport pickup (if I'm available) is $25.
We have a loving cat named Fabio that all of my guests fall in love with...
NOTE: We are a non-smoking home, so no smokers please :)
Short-terms guests will have access to most of the house, with the exception of others' bedrooms, and the living room. Longer term guests, also have cooking privileges and can store food in the cupboards and fridge. They can also access laundry. All guests are welcome to enjoy the outside patios and garden areas.
I interact with the guests as I would with anyone living in the house, but respect the level of privacy and interaction that each guest is comfortable with. Some guests love to chat and receive suggestions of things to do, places to go, etc. while others prefer to be very independent. I provide all the tourist information of course, but I'm readily available to interact more socially if that's what my guests enjoy.
What I love the most is that I am only a 15-minute walk to the ocean and the extensive dyke path that surrounds the North, West and Southern borders of Richmond.
I'm in a very convenient location, with easy access to public transportation, within a kilometre of two shopping areas, each with a large grocery store.
It's very quiet and peaceful here and the grounds are well maintained with lovely mature trees and landscaping.
Public transit is only 2 minutes away and the bus comes every 15 minutes during rush hour and every 1/2 hour for most of the other hours. The 401 bus ride North is only 10 minutes to the Skytrain, which takes you downtown Vancouver in about 25 minutes.
If you take the 401 bus South, you arrive in charming Steveston Village, a former fishing village where you can find great restaurants, a variety of boutique shops, used bookstores, thrift stores, etc as well as a lovely board walk along the water and an active fishing wharf where you can purchase fresh fish and seafood right off the fishing boats.
Parking is included in the price and if you're taking public transit from the airport it's a short trip on the Skytrain to Brighouse stop and then about a 10-minute bus ride on the 401 route. Taxi from the airport takes about 15 minutes and costs about $25 including tip.

I had a great stay at Karen's loft, she was a wonderful host. The loft was very comfortable and the house and surrounding areas were very quiet. I can recommend if your looking for a quiet easy accommodations in the Richmond area.
Karen is a warm, caring, and courteous host and she provided me with everything I needed and helped me very much with setting up my life in Vancouver. She had a lot of useful hints and recommendations, cheered me up and taught me positive thinking. Her house is in a quite and friendly neighborhood, close to public transport and shopping. Just as the whole house the room is thoughtfully furnished, clean and bright and I slept very well.
Thank you Karen! I had a great time and a place to call home.
Karen is a perfect host! I was very glad to meet her.
She has the ability to create a mindful bubble around people to make them feel home.
She so simply embodies Motherhood.
I thank her for her warm welcome, her precious advices and her way of living.
I stayed 2 months in Karens House and I had a wonderful time.
It was very clean and peaceful.
Karen is a great and inspiring person. She always tries to help you with any problem and we had great chats.
I loved to stay in her house and it felt like home.
I would definitly recommend her.
I had a good time at Karen's place, we had some great conversations and she was very helpful when it came to organizing my trip.
Especially I enjoyed the walks along the nearby beautiful Dyke Trail.
I stayed with Karen in her loft room for a month and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect place or host. Her house is situated in a lovely and quiet neighborhood, a short walk or bus ride away from groceries and the beautiful beach trail in Richmond. Anything you could want to see is easily accessible with Vancouver's impressive public transit and Karen makes great suggestions for places to see. The room is very comfortable and the house is a wonderfully quiet place to retreat from busy city life. Karen is a great host, giving you the privacy you want, but I also appreciated our interesting conversations. She is a very open person, who will welcome you to her house quickly and be of any help she can be.
All in all, I cannot recommend staying here enough; I had a wonderful month and would return any time.
Karen has a generous warm spirit and made everyone feel at ease. I stayed here because it was in such close proximity to the 401 bus, and the price was right. I really appreciated the self-serve breakfasts so I could eat and be on my way each morning. The room was clean, bed was OK for sleeping but what really made the place great was the sense of being welcomed into Karen's home. Her cat & dog were very nice and friendly too!
I am happy to have this opportunity to be able to thank Karen and Phillip. I found Karen to be a generous, gracious host. They made me feel immediately welcome and showed me to a beautiful charming room.
Karen keeps a quiet home on a very quiet street.....convenient to the 401 bus, which runs frequently between Steveston and the skytrain station at at Richmond Center. Having said that, I must add that Steveston is a tourist destination well worth seeing in it's own right. Tons of history at a magical location on the Fraser River, Steveston alls has great Dining and interesting shops....an easy place for a book-a-holic like myself to get around in.
I had a bit of small business in Vancouver through the week I was there and returning to Karen's was like finding an Oasis of peace and calm. Best of all I left feeling I had found a new friend.
Thankyou Karen and Phillip
It's a very pleasant stay at Karen's place, we had a few interesting conversations and too bad I had a short stay only. I would definately stay with Karen again if I ever visit Vancouver in the future.
Karen is an extremely kind, generous and inspiring person who really went out of her way to make me feel at home. With Karen's help I quickly settled into my life in Vancouver. Not only did I have the opportunity to meet a wonderful landlady, but I made a great friend. THANKS KAREN!
