Interaction with Guests
I work at my cafe allot, so most interaction is greeting you and getting you settled in, and if you visit my cafe. I am around on the weekends gardening if I am not at the beach!
Very quiet neighborhood in the Sunset area.
Central location minutes to town, dinning, beaches, theaters, restaurants, shopping, ect. However would advise renting a vehicle to enjoy all the Big Island has to offer!
Other Things to Note
Please note there is no kitchen sink in the breakfast nook. If you use the breakfast nook, you will need to use the bathroom sink to rinse. We hope to remodel into a full kitchen in the future (daily rate will go up). Also note, the Hawaiian stone steps leading to the entrance are probably not for the frail and elderly (see pics) Well behaved children are welcome!
No Smoking inside and outside gardens- anywhere on the property.
No barbecuing after 10 pm.
Carol's place is AMAZING! Breathtaking view of the ocean! The places is extremely roomy and we even have our own porch to see the Kona sunset. We got a chance to meet Carol while checking in and she made us felt just at home and she even left us some snacks in the fridge! Carol is very quick to reply to all of our questions and the location of her place cannot be beat. In terms of the place, it was extremely clean and breezy, there is no AC because you simply don't need it, I had two wonderful night of sleep with gentle sea breeze cooling the flat. I only wished we knew her place is this amazing beforehand so we could've spend more time there. Did I mention we saw whales breaching the ocean from her porch? When I go back to Kona, Carol's place will be on the top of the list as places to stay!
Ian, thank you so much! I just love sharing my little piece of paradise with my guests. I know it is hard when your surfing for the right place to stay by just looking at pictures, there is so much out there and you really never know what your going to get. So thank you for the great review, it will help future guests to know this is a great place to stay in Kona! Look forward to your next visit, breakfast is on me!!!
We had a great time at the Island of Hawaii. The Stay at Carols appartement was exactly that what we needed. It was confotable and the view from the lanai was spectacular. She made a delicious and healthy breakfast for us. Thank you so much carol for everything you did for us. If we are coming back, we would stay at your place again.
This was a lovely set of rooms up the hill overlooking the ocean. It sits in an older building and is decorated in a "beach" style. One definitely needs a car. Restaurants and shopping are beyond walking distances. The house sits in a pleasant, safe neighborhood. There is a small eating area and basics for meals (no sink, but microwave, fridge, and toaster). Our host was welcoming and left fruit and coffee for us. I loved the deck, which looks over the ocean. There is a nice breeze.
Aloha Carol, thank you very much for your hospitality and all the efforts you did to make our stay even more comfortable. The place is very comfortable and the lanai and the view is perfect. Easy access just 8 minutes drive to Kona and in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood. Also the food you provided us was very tasty and healthy.
We will definitely come back, but for a long stay we will need an organized kitchen with a sink! Hopefully you'll manage to install them before we come back again. A great Mahalo!
Thank you! Sorry for the misunderstanding but I do not advertise a full kitchen, or 2 bathrooms. I clearly state it is a breakfast nook, and has one bath room.
It is not permitted legally for a stove and kitchen sink or 2 bathrooms, it would be extensive financially, time consuming with the suite off line, and would greatly increase the daily rate. Hope you understand, I did my best to accomdate you, giving you discounted rates on daily dinners, it really isn't made
for long term rentals. This could be a possibility in the future, but not this year. Really enjoyed meeting you and your son, it was a pleasure having you here!!
Carol was great! We visited her at her cafe and she made us all a protein packed breakfast that kept us fueled for our long hike to the waterfall that day! The house had everything we needed with plenty of towels and boogie boards conveniently located in a nice neighborhood overlooking the ocean! Perfect weather and perfect vacation!
Carol was warm and friendly and helpful about things to do in the area. Unfortunately she was sick and then I ended up with a medical emergency and then my husband and I got sick so we didn't see each other much. Sometimes it took a while for her to respond to texts or emails.
The place has an excellent view and although a little dark inside for us, it had a great deck with a place to eat.
My kids who are 17 and 14 have gotten too big for this kind of lodging. Lesson learned on our end. This is a great spot for a couple with small children or just a couple. Our family needs more comfy chairs and a larger second bed.
This is a great location that is quiet and has great sunsets. Thanks Carol.
The star rating system was not working, but I would say the experience was very good.
Beautiful, peaceful place with a stunning view. Beds were wonderful as were the shower. A real gem. We loved our stay with Carol
