Just a 5 minute walk to Surf Beach, this clean, sunny, fully equipped house is a great for family or friends to get together for a beach get away or a place to stay after visiting the penguins and other island attractions.
It's an older style house, but with new fittings and new hot water service. A short stroll to the end of the road takes you to a really beautiful surf beach, with lots of rock pools for the kids to explore. This area is one of natures finest and the lovely quiet neighbourhood offers a perfect city break.
Dogs are welcome if kept outside, although the fence is not very high so active dogs may jump. Please be aware that there are many areas on the island where dogs can not go (even in car), including the penguins and The Nobbies, so if you are planning on exploring the island and your dog frets if left alone, then it may be best not to bring it. Dogs are allowed on the local beach, however there are restricted times. They can only be on the beach between 7 am - 10 am and 5 - 8 pm. If you plan on bringing a dog, please message me first to check if it will be suitable.
1 room has 1 double bed & 2 single bunks (sleeps 4), another room has a queen size bed and one more room has a double bed (slightly smaller than standard double) but still big enough to sleep 2. There is also a very comfortable couch and a spare futon.
Interaction with guests
The owner lives in a Bungalow out the back & may or may not be there while you stay. Privacy of guests will be respected at all times, however you are always welcome to drop by to ask questions. You are most welcome to use the back yard, however please note that this is a shared space. You are welcome to enjoy a nice cosy outdoor fire, however please note that we have strict regulations for having open fires in Australia and the fire pit must never be used on Total fire Ban days. Please check this website before using outdoor fire pit (URL HIDDEN)
Other things to note
Please note that my kitchen has a very small bench top oven, big enough to heat a small pizza, roast or cake but not bake a feast. It does have all other cooking facilities that you may need, 4 electric hotplates, microwave, bbq etc.
The house is available for single night bookings, however it is really appreciated if you can bring some of your own linen - e.g kids sleeping bags or towels etc. This helps to keep the air bnb price low and is way better for the environment. No problems if you can't, as I understand this may not be possible if you are travelling light - just something to consider.

After living in China for over a decade, I've decide it's time to spend more time back in Australia. My lovely little beach shack is such a welcoming contrast to living in the Middle Kingdom. I have my own business in Beijing, so therefore I still spend quite a lot of time traveling. I'm also a little addicted to tango dancing so frequently head to Melbourne to pursue this passion.
My house is a 3 bedroom house, with a self contained bungalow out the back. After years living in a small apartment, I find that I have more than enough room and have therefore settled nicely into the bungalow. This means that my house is free to let out during times when my own friends & family are not visiting.
I am a qualified, fully registered primary school teacher and work as a relief teacher when I am not traveling or working on my business. If you need a baby sitter, I may even be able to help you out.
I also dabble in a bit of art and so my bungalow doubles as my studio. I look forward to sharing my house with other interesting, creative people.
I also understand that you may want complete privacy during your beach break, so apart from initial introduction, you will not see me unless you have a special request.
