The Irish Channel is one of the most eclectic neighborhoods in the city, and in New Orleans that's saying something. It's popular with both residents and visitors to the city.
The residents come from every walk of life and income level. Many families are multi-generational, having raised children and grandchildren there, while others are among the city's newest arrivals.
Located along a strip of high ground near the Mississippi River, it has gone from a less-than-desirable address to an extremely valuable one with new construction and renovations popping up weekly.
Tchoupitoulas bus stop is located 1 block away: Magazine bus stop is an easy 5 blocks away and a cab to the quarter will run about $15.00
We allow well behaved pets for an additional fee:
The apartment is non-smoking, however smoking on the deck is allowed
Mia was a fantastic host! We had a group of 9, and everyone was accommodated comfortably. Mia showed us around, and gave us a ride to a nice restaurant upon our arrival. House was clean, as described, and a great place for hosting a big group for a weekend in Nola. Thanks Mia!
It was a fabulous experience! The apartment was beautiful. We loved the high ceiling and the art. Mia was a gracious host, provising snacks and items in the fridge, as well as giving is great tips on places to eat. I would definitely contact her again.
Mia helped make our trip a fantastic one, beginning with hospitality before we'd even arrived (she let me know she was stocking up the kitchen with breakfast items). She was accommodating to one guest who'd arrived early, and once we'd all arrived, we were delighted by the vintage-yet-modern space. It was roomy, comfortable, and decorated with some very cool paintings. It's also a great location, a quick walk from Magazine and some favorite dining destinations along the Irish channel. Only thing missing was ice, but there is a Walmart close by. Thank you, Mia!
Loved staying at this place. Quiet neighborhood, walking distance to NOLA Brewery, groceries and restaurants. Mia was a very gracious host. She had a fridge stocked for us with breakfast items and snacks. She also was full of suggestions and knowledge of the neighborhood. The house was the perfect size for the 7 of us and it was very well-kept. The private deck was lit, decorated and equipped with outdoor seating and grill---this was the focal point of the place, as we were out there a majority of the time. Mia made the whole booking and check-in process very easy. Overall, we had a great time and would book with her again.
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. Mia was wonderful and really went out of her way to make us comfortable, going so far as to bring me special food to accommodate my food allergy. The decor in the apartment is great and I especially enjoyed the old school Chambers stove just like I grew up with!
There is an industrial building right next door with what I believe to be a loud air conditioning unit that appears to run on weekdays. It didn't really bother us, but if you're a light sleeper it might. The specific street is a little industrial, but it's very close (5 min walk) to Magazine street which has great bars and restaurants. We'd definitely stay here again.
I miss New Orleans and this apartment too! Went with a group of friends and we all loved it. Very traditional apartment with great rooms and a spacious living room. The apartment has some NOLA details that make it unique. My favorite part of the apartment was the porch, where we would all gather every evening for a beer before venturing out into town. Mia was a great host and committed to ensure we had a great stay. Safe to say that she succeeded.
