  • David wasn't actually there while we were because something had come up so I can't speak to him as a host per se, but he was responsive to emails and the booklet in the room, as well as his property manager were very informative regarding local attractions. I think the biggest plus was that the villa is in a gated/guarded community so we felt very safe and could leave our valuables in the room. One thing to be aware of is that this villa is in quepos and getting to Manuel Antonio is not a simple walk. That said it is away from the very touristy areas and only a cheap (c285) bus ride away from the park (buses leave every 20mins or so). The room itself is nice as is the bathroom ( the hot water takes a bit of time to come on) and the surrounding jungle makes it a pretty unique place to stay!

  • This (email hidden) to stay just outside of Quepos. David was an extremely friendly, knowledgable and easygoing host. He gave us insider info on Quepos, set up a great rafting trip, and made us feel extremely welcome. The guest house was clean, the ambience was cool, and the neighborhood was beautiful and woodsy. It's a quiet respite from the hustle of Quepos and the mega resorts on the way to Manuel Antonio. The pool was great, and the location felt authentic without being too remote.

  • David (email hidden). Not only was he gracious in general, but he really went out of his way for our one-night stay. He set up a special tour for us with a local certified guide to visit the rainforest, and also called our zipline company to change our appointment time while we were on the rainforest walk!

The villa is gorgeous, everything you'd expect from the listing.

  • The room was absolutely wonderful and David was very kind, welcoming and helpful. My 2 friends and I had a great time staying there. David was nearby and accessible at all times. He was accommodating and provided us with information and recommendations about the area and restaurants.
I definitely do plan on staying on another one of his properties in the near future.
Beautiful location and you can even see monkeys from the balcony!

  • Our stay was smooth and perfect. David was friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. Great shower. Amazing pool. Good location to Quepos and bus to MA. Other reviews were accurate regarding the walk uphill and lack of refrigerator. We were fine with this and all our expectations were met. Thanks David!

  • The villa was amazing, the room is comfortable and the birds chirping outside made it a peaceful oasis. I had a great time exploring Manuel Antonio, the beach is not only beautiful but the water is unbelievable warm and inviting. David (email hidden). He made sure we were comfortable and although we only stayed one night it was wonderful!

  • We had the most wonderful time at David's property. The room was clean, comfortable, quiet and we had our own deck to watch all the wildlife. Upon our arrival, David made it known that if we needed anything, we could just ask him. This is located in a gated community which is beautiful. It felt like we were far into the jungle when we were actually right off the road to Manuel Antonio. We enjoyed the location because we were right in between Quepos and Manuel Antonio. The property was very easy to find and our experience from start to finish was flawless. David was beyond hospitable by booking multiple tours for us and recommending wonderful restaurants, beaches and activities. David even arranged a masseuse to come to the property for an outdoor massage, that was heaven. If we had any questions he was always there to answer them. The pool was so peaceful and lovely to relax in after a day of activities. This is a place I will tell my friends about and return to. We had the so a great time!!

  • You learn from your own experience - that's what they say nowadays, right? I've traveled outside of first world countries more than once. I've been all around Central America now except for Panama. I knew what to expect of houses placed right on the outskirts of a national park. This place blew me away.
Although the room was plain (it's just a room with basic necessities such as a bathroom and towels) the actual house was awesome. The pool was beautiful. My boyfriend and I spent most of our visit just hanging around in the pool when we weren't out. The location is great because the bus stops right outside! The only suggestion I have on how to get here is take a taxi. The hill is steep up to the house and with your luggage/back packs, it might be a little painful! Our room was clean, private, and the A/C worked wonderfully.
There has been comments about the head of the bed being "dirty". I don't see what the big deal is. It's wood. I didn't use a black light to look for any bodily fluids. I wanted a place to sleep during semana santa and I'm glad I chose this place.
David was a very nice host! He even bought my boyfriend and I out with him! He's pretty funny as well! Once I was curious as to what was hanging underneath the roof top (outside) at night and it was dark - so David went to get a flashlight so we could discover the nice sized tree frog hanging around! It was awesome of him. He also gave us a cooler to use. Great guy and awesome company.

A few things I'd recommend if you're staying here. You should get some food and ask to use a cooler. The weather can get VERY hot in Costa Rica so it might not be too fun to sweat your way back into town only to burn all the calories walking back up to the hill! We bought some alcohol as well and kept them stored in the cooler. It was awesome!

I really, really enjoyed the pool area and the view around it. Just beautiful! Stay here if you can!!

  • David is a nice guy and I think he believes what he is saying but I would not recommend this place if you are traveling with any kind of purpose. There is no WiFi in the room I stayed in, nor access to a kitchen, cups, silverware or the like.

This room (my room I think there are a few) is just a room with a bathroom, by the way the sink doesn't work. I did see some monkey's and an iguana, but then again you see those everywhere in Costa Rica so that shouldn't be a surprise.

I needed WiFi to do work on this trip, and well as water to survive - so after the first day and a long night dreaming of water in the 90 degree heat I early the next morning.

I also knocked on David's door a few times for water, and to drop off the key. He claimed he was home every time I did so via AirBNB messenger, my question is then, "why didn't you get the door?" - probably sleeping...

There are far better options for this price that have WiFi and water. However, if you are hippie with no work to do, and just want to live the Pura Vida free from water - this could be the place for you.

  • David went above and beyond to make our stay great! He was so helpful in booking our activities and advising us on what to do and where to eat. The room was awesome, seriously right in the jungle. We saw more jungle life from our porch and the pool than at the park! Toucans at the pool, a sloth outside our window and both capuchin and squirrel monkeys! The price was so great for such a nice area and room. The pool is just gorgeous. Felt very safe. Would definitely stay there again and we're telling all our friends about this little gem.

Hey, I've been living in Costa Rica since 2010. I love to travel and meet people and share in new experiences along the way. Life is short so I am trying to enjoy it one day at a time.
