This was our first time in Costa Rica and staying at Manuel Antonio Estates Casa Quetzal was an experience. It really is a jungle villa! Every morning iguanas greeted us at our door. This place is not for the nature-phobic, but if you are looking to live in a bit of the tropical lushness that is Manuel Antonio then this is your place. Dave was a great host. He was there when we arrived and checked on us everyday to make sure we had what we needed and offer suggestions for eating and activities. He really knows Manuel Antonio and Quepos well. He set up excursions for us and arranged for us to be picked up at the villa. He gets 5 stars as a host for sure! You'll enjoy yourself at the Jungle Villa, but just be aware that "country comforts" are not always there. We were there in July and there is no AC and a big hill to walk up, so prepare to sweat quite a bit. Also the wifi is not strong, so plan ahead.
This space is a modest room in the forest of Manuel Antonio. The view is amazing. This room is located close to the town Quepos. You can walk there. It is also close to the beaches of Manuel Antonio. Taking a cab is the best option. The staff at Manuel Antonio Estates will assist you with booking any excursions you are interested in. This neighborhood is also very safe and welcoming for exploration.
The room gets pretty warm during the day, as there is no air conditioner. There are two ceiling fans and a portable fan to keep the room as cool as possible. At night the heat isn't an issue. It's nice and cool with both fans on.
David left us towels for use. The room was clean but there were a few bugs that entered into the room. I assume it's from the sliding door that provides you with the amazing forest view. There is also wifi for your use and a pool. I didn't use the pool but it looked perfect for hot and humid days when you don't want to head to the beach.
There is no kitchen unit. You are unable to cook. I would advise buying water and snacks to stay in the room just in case you are hungry or thirsty.
David was very friendly and very helpful. Quepos was a great place to go surfing for a couple of days. You'll need a car if you're staying here. It's only 5 mins from the beach
We needed a quick one day stay on our journey back to San Jose from Uvita and we thankfully found this listing in Quepos. Upon arrival David greeted us and showed us the pool, the room and around the grounds. He also serendipitously showed us a sloth (the one Costa Rican animal that had eluded us), iguanas, and a large group of Spider monkeys who were eating right outside of our room. David had lots of recommendations for us during our stay and for the trip along the way, he was extraordinarily gracious and felt more like a friend than a host. We would stay here again if we find ourselves back in Quepos.
We spend a couple of days with David. Cool guy that definitely knows his way around Manuel Antonio, gave us a few memorable restaurant recommendations and even took us to the beach. The place itself is not an entire villa but a room on David's property. Having a car is recommended since it's quite a walk up hill (the house is located on a secured estate). Buses stop in front of the estate & taxi's are abundant but the fares back and forth add up.
The host canceled this reservation 50 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

About the Host, David
Hey, I've been living in Costa Rica since 2010. I love to travel and meet people and share in new experiences along the way. Life is short so I am trying to enjoy it one day at a time.
