Built in 1846, “The Tower” sits proudly in the middle of a row of six terraced cottages known as the Old Coastguard Cottages, Ballycastle. Beautifully restored, this 3-storey, 3 bedroom unique property has fantastic panoramic views to Fairhead, Rathlin Island and over the Irish Sea to Scotland and is ideally situated to sight see around the magnificent North Coast. The Giant’s Causeway, Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge and Bushmills Distillery are all within a 30min drive.
The space
The Tower overlooks Ballycastle’s blue flag beach and 18-hole golf course. The harbour and marina is a three-minute walk away with access to fishing boats, sea angling, and ferry to Rathlin Island. Ballycastle is renowned for its friendly pubs, restaurants and craft shops.
Guest access
There are three double bedrooms including one with ensuite, one bathroom, a ground floor living room with gas fire and a beautiful kitchen/dining room.
The main door leads to the kitchen/dining room, and into the living room both have original unique brick arch ceilings. All other rooms upstairs have high ceilings and sliding sash windows looking out over the Sea. The kitchen is fitted with a full range of modern appliances, including a dishwasher and a fridge freezer. There is a table that seats six people.
“The Tower” comfortably sleeps 6 people in 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom on the 3rd floor has a 5ft brass and iron bed, wooden floors and two windows looking out to Fairhead and Scotland in the distance. Leading off it is an en suite shower room with a power shower, basin and wc.
The smallest bedroom in the house also on the 3rd floor has a 5ft brass and iron bed, a standard double with views out over the garden and Irish Sea towards Rathlin Island.
The third bedroom is on the 2nd floor with an iron and brass bed, antique pine furniture and views out over the beach and golf course. Also on the 2nd floor is the family bathroom, which has a bath, separate shower, toilet and basin and a wooden floor with ornate wall panelling.
The original circular sandstone staircase is now only used as an emergency access. The main living room has a brick arch ceiling, original fireplace with gas fire, comfortable sofa and chairs, carpet with rugs and TV, CD player and Radio.
There is access to the front of the Tower with patio area and views out over the bay and garden. The outbuildings to the rear of “The Tower” contain a washroom with washing machine and tumble drier.
