2 free Aquarium tickets; TV and computer are right in the spacious bedroom on the second floor of our house; wi-fi, large closet; down comforter; queen size bed; your own private bathroom; quiet location but very convenient.
You are very welcome to interact with me or my husband in the common area. We do keep some Asian customs in house. Hope you won't feel uncomfortable that we ask you to take off shoes upon entering the house. We will provide slippers during your stay if you need them.
The house is located at the Kimball ave, border with city of Monterey, 10 minutes drive to downtown Monterey, fisherman's wharf, Pacific Grove and a lot of great tourist attractions, 15-20 minutes drive to Carmel if you drive on Fremont and immediately on highway 1. If you like shopping, the house is also close to shopping centers in both Seaside and Monterey.
Simple self-service breakfast available after 8:00 am. Earlier breakfast can be provided upon request. We just don't want to leave food out there for whole night and we usually don't want to get up very early either. :)
I hope this is the place where you can truly relax after your tiring but exciting travel. We will be very happy to have you as our guest.
I and my girlfriend stayed in Jade's spare room for one night for a getaway weekend. I would recommend any individual or couple travel to Monterey to stay with Patrick and Jade. They have a lovely home. The room was clean and spacious and the house was conveniently located near Monterey and Carmel. Jade was gone at the time but her husband Patrick was very welcoming and prepared a large breakfast for us. He also had great recommendations for things to do in the area and he let us use their aquarium passes.
There was only one problem, and deriving from a lapse in communication. In the week prior to our arrival, I emailed Jade regarding our travel plans. We were to stay at their house on Saturday, and I asked Jade if it we could arrive at noon on Saturday and use the aquarium passes that day. She said yes, so we made an early start to Monterey so we'd have the whole afternoon at the aquarium (we were planning on getting an early start on Sunday morning to get to our next destination).
When we arrived at Patrick and Jade's house, we learned that the guests from the previous night had just checked out and were using the aquarium passes for an undetermined amount of time, but that they would return them by the end of the day. Because of the circumstances, we had to push the aquarium to Sunday, which interfered with the rest of our plans for the weekend.
In any event, it's generous to offer the passes to guests, and it's a very reasonable policy for Patrick and Jade to loan the aquarium passes to whichever guest is there at the moment, and not to hold the passes for the next guest. I only wish that, when we contacted Jade earlier in the week to confirm our plans, she had let us know that the passes might not me available on Saturday so we could have planned accordingly.
That hiccup is not a mark against Patrick and Jade's hospitality. In the end everything worked out and we had a wonderful time. I would absolutely advise anyone to stay at their house.
We had a lovely stay here! Room was cozy and quiet, the bed was comfortable and Patrick prepared a nice breakfast in the morning. Couldn't be happier!
Jade was not there during our stay but her lovely husband Patrick was there and took care of us very well. He made us a different breakfast every morning and made sure we were all taken care of. Would stay again!
Jade was very hospitable and her home is lovely. Bathroom was clean, bed was comfortable, and plentiful fruit and bagels along with coffee and tea were laid out for my very early breakfast needs. Best part was the sweet and friendly house-cat.
Jade was a wonderful host. The room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spotless. Felt cleaner and better than a hotel. Overall an excellent stay!
My girlfriend and I had a pleasant stay! We didn't get to chat as much, but Jade was really welcoming and accommodating with our schedule. Getting to see the Monterey Bay Aquarium again was great :)
We loved staying with Jade! The room and bathroom were even better than we were expecting. Everything was immaculate and kept very thoughtfully for us (e.g., two bottles of water and towels laid out). And Jade and her husband were so hospitable and kind. They even made dumplings and fresh juice for us for breakfast!
The only tiny point of caution is that the bed is a little softer than average, and that there's a slight tilt towards the middle. I still got a great night's sleep, though, and would stay with them again if I find myself in this part of the country.
Jade was very nice and helpful. She and her husband have a very beautiful house in a safe neighborhood, and our room was big and comfortable. We only stayed one night but we had a very good experience. The best treat was the delicious breakfast that Jade's husband cooked us in the morning!
Jade and her husband were very, very accommodating hosts! Their home is lovely, tidy, and peaceful.
Their home has a long driveway, and ample parking. Our car was safely off the street, and very secure. The neighborhood is very clean and quiet. We felt very safe here.
We were warmly greeted by Jade, and provided house slippers for when we removed our shoes. The room was very clean, and fresh towels and even shower slippers were provided.
We soundly slept through the night, as their bedroom was quite comfortable. The bed was great, and the down comforter was clean and warm! It was the best night's sleep we've had in a long time! Bottled water was provided, and the bathroom was clean, and well appointed with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion.
Morning came and we were pleasantly greeted by Jade's husband, who was preparing a complimentary round of fresh squeezed juices for us to enjoy with our breakfast. As we went downstairs and made our way into the dining area, we were pleasantly surprised to find that coffee was made, and there was a good selection of bread, fruits, jams, yogurt, and other "continental" breakfast items for us to enjoy. Her husband even brought us a platter of freshly steamed Chinese "pork buns"...he was very hospitable and personable. He say to chat with us about his background, and was very engaging in our conversation.
Bottom line is that we LOVE Jade, her husband, and their lovely home! We will definitely stay here every time we visit the Monterey area! 5 stars!
Jade and her husband Patrick welcomed us warmly in their lovely house and it was a pleasure spending 3 days over Christmas there. They invited us to join them for dinner with some friends on the first night which was extremely hospitable.
The room and bed was very comfortable and we slept soundly each night. The bathroom was just outside the bedroom but we noticed that the sink, taps and cup hadn't been cleaned and should have been so. The hosts also allowed us to use their annual passes for the Monterey Bay aquarium which was very nice. I'm glad we didn't pay for that attraction as it was poor, very tacky and way overcrowded.
We give 5 stars for the overall experience as we are sure the cleaning issue was just an oversight.
