This is a full apartment in a classic Spanish style triplex built in 1926 that features a full kitchen, an integrated living room/bedroom with queen size bed, one private bathroom with shower, hardwood floors, vintage tile, and windows looking onto a garden terrace.
The kitchen is fully functional with gas stove, microwave oven, refrigerator, cooking utensils, plates, glasses etc.
Nearby you will find grocery stores, cheap burritos, overpriced fine cuisine, surf shops, Peet's Coffee, art studios, public libraries, parks, Santa Monica welcome center with maps and info, Sunday farmers market and of course the beach.
You will be close enough to the sea to have clean fresh air yet distant enough to be above the noise and crowds of the boardwalk. Downtown Santa Monica has easy public transit access or you can hop on a bike for a quick ride to shopping heaven. You are also less than one mile to Venice Beach, Rose Ave and just beyond is Abbot Kinney Blvd.
Please let me know if I can help out during your stay. I was born in Santa Monica and can most likely answer any questions about the area.
There are two bicycles for guests to use - they are old but in ridable condition for cruising along the beach. Internet TV and Netflix account included.
Other Things to Note
There is a construction project next door that is sometimes noisy during the day.
Little kids in the upstairs apartment play and stomp around - i.e. there is a lot of kid noise from above during the day.
Have fun enjoy your stay!
-No smoking on the premises.
-No non-registered guests.
We stayed 2 weeks in this studio and enjoyed our time there a lot. Cris wasn't there when we arrived but he organised that we could get in. The studio was very clean when we arrived and everything was exactly like in the description. There was even fresh fruit. The location of the studio in Santa Monica is great. It's located in a residential area in a quiet street close to the beach (you can walk or cycle; there were 2 bicycles that we could use for free). We would definitely stay again!
Cris is a wonderful host. The apartment is larger and lighter than it looks in the photos, and it has a wonderful California Art Deco vibe. It was spotlessly clean. The furniture was comfortable. The kitchen had all I needed. It's got a great private entrance down a little path, the landscaping is beautiful. The sunsets are wonderful. Whenever I had a question or a need, Cris was immediately available, helpful, generous, hospitable. Parking on the street was very easy, which is saying a lot in Santa Monica. There is a grocery store about 3 blocks away, the beach is a few blocks in the other direction, it was a terrific location.
We couldn't ask for a better place to stay at for our vacation in Santa Monica! We stayed there for 3 months and had the best time ever!
Cris is the perfect host, he's there when you need him, always make sure that everything is okey for you, easy to cooperate with!
The neighborhood is quiet and great for family's!
The place is close to the beach and Main Street, also close to Lincoln blv were you can find a lot of restaurants and grocery stores!
I would absolutely recommend this place, you won't be disappointed!
We have been greeted very well by Chris and Luana. They made us feel at ease the moment we arrived.
They did their best to meet our desires. They provided us with all the facilities we needed, offered us to use their bikes and even Chris's surf board.
Their bungalow is ideally located in a peaceful street with free parking spaces, at a stone's throw from Santa Monica beach: a ten-minute walk at most.
Good value for money.
I need a vacation from my vacation.
This is a small but clean apartment in close proximity to the beach.
Despite claims that it has been fixed the WiFi is extremely weak and at times non-existent.
In addition, cell phone service from inside the apartment is intermittent and unusable for talking (SMS worked, however) and it is necessary to leave the apartment to get a usable signal.
The greatest problem with this apartment is the constant noise which completely ruined my 3-week vacation. With a house under construction next door (25 feet from my apartment beginning at 8AM and continuing until 7PM every day except Sunday) and noisy children just above the apartment beginning very early in the mornings, not once was I able to sleep past 7AM. Worse is the fact that often I was awakened in the middle of the night by footsteps or running water - always between the hours of 3AM and 6AM.
What I found distasteful is that I wasn't warned about this situation before my arrival (the owner’s note about the noise was added after my complaints) and I only learned about it on the first morning of my stay. In fact, Cris assured me in writing that I could expect a quiet place to relax and do some studying.
While Cris did offer to release me from the last 2 weeks of my stay it was unfeasible that I could find an affordable alternative with no advance notice. Cris further offered to move me into a friend-neighbor’s apartment for part of my 3 weeks but, as it was not part of the AirBNB system, I had concerns about my liability and safety and declined.
While I’m always reluctant to leave negative remarks even when they might be deserved, this stay has left me feeling betrayed, cheated and upset over a much needed vacation which was needlessly ruined. Cris’ assurances about a quiet place to relax and study while he knew of the construction next door and of the noisy children overhead were disingenuous and dishonest and I feel a duty to inform other AirBNB users of the situation.
If noise were not such an issue for this apartment it would have otherwise been a fine place.
The construction and kid noise began about a week before Marisa arrived. Upon Marisa's arrival she was told of the noise and offered a full refund or a free upgrade to a larger apartment with an ocean view on the top floor well away from any source of noise. She declined both offers.
I have since stayed in the studio over night in order to see how bad the noise and wifi connection could be. Wifi connection on my iphone is strong throughout the studio.
Noise during waking hours is present but muffled and I had no problem sleeping at night or taking an afternoon nap. As for "footsteps or running water" at 3AM that could be all upstairs - and I don't mean in the apartment above.
My boyfriend and I spent 5 days in Santa Monica. This was an awesome experience. The studio is perfect, little but so cozy and clean. We really enjoyed to cook every day. The coolest thing was the bikes that we used everyday to go to the beach (Santa Monica, Venice...) or the third promenade or the market that is really close. When we arrived Cris wasn't there but her wife showed us around. All went good for us, just some little thing as the wifi that we had really hard time to connect. Only worked in bed area but it was fine. There was a lot of noise in mornings with the kids upstairs running around and the work in house next to our. Will recommend.
Yes, the noise from upstairs is a new and very annoying issue. I'm working on a solution however the upstairs noise is likely to continue for the next several months.
The construction at the house next door is scheduled to finish this month.
I installed a new wifi system that is dedicated to the studio, so at least that problem is fixed.
