About this listing
City vat taxes (10%) will be collected upon arrival.
Our pricing is based on beds/rooms used. Each room is $85 if using one bed (all are doubles). Additional people are $15 each if using the same room. If you state your needs (beds and rooms needed) when contacting us we can reduce the flurry of emails!
Camping with your own gear is $25/person or $35/couple.
Rustic and clean resource conscious home with bohemian ambience. One of a kind place full of collectibles and custom constructions/furnishings and a semi wild garden. One shared bathroom with stainless steel shower, custom tiled floor and antique fixtures.
All our beds are slightly unconventional (roughly 50" X 72"), either foam pads or futon pads. They are harder than the usual set ups but the vast majority of guests find them to be just fine. If you must have conventional beds then I urge you to use any of our many other airbnb accommodations in SLO.
We are a short walk to cafes, sandwich shops, the train station and the heart of town.
There is a small archery range, bbq set up, many decks and patios to hang out on if desired. Splendid view of the town and our famous Seven Sisters mountain range to the west. We have a small hiking hill just outside the back fence.
Wine tasting, beaches, hiking (one popular hike is right outside our back gate!) and boating available as well as many musical, cultural and artistic events throughout the year.
Share your stay here with two small marvelous dogs and a cat. We welcome your well mannered animal companions but hope you will manage them. We welcome kids of all ages as well.
I stress our passion for conservation, we hope our guests will be thoughtful when using our facilities. If we waste resources what will the next generations have?
Public transit 3 blocks away.

The city is now charging airbnb guests 10% VAT (temporary residents tax). Be cool if you can pay your host that upon arrival.
Conservation is very important here, especially with water use. Be very thrifty please.
Ask if you need towels or anything else, we aim to please.
Our bathroom door is always left wide open unless the room is occupied.
Male guests are heartily invited to use the 'great outdoors' for 'lightweight' bathroom use. Just be discrete.
Pete was a great host, very welcoming and helpful with where to go and what to see in SLO. His house is indeed unique and interesting to see in its own right. We were very comfortable and recommend his place to other travellers looking for a relatively cheap place to stay
Loved staying at Pete's place! It was the perfect escape from the busy city life of Orange County. The corrals of art induced spiritual awakening and there was so much to look at and ponder upon. Pete is a quirky and personable man and his dogs and kitty China complete the welcoming feel!
I would definitely stay here again next time I am in this beautiful, hilly city. A gem in the rough.
Pete's place is great. An art gallery in its own right. And Pete is so warm and friendly. And thw dogs and cat! We felt immediately at home. We stayed in the garden room. It was comfortable and peaceful- so nice to wake up to all the birds. The location is great. Amazing views across the city plus super easy to walk into town. I would stay here again and again.
What a place! Absolutely unique. We could've spent an hour just walking around the property.
Pete was very welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed staying at his place very much.
Stopped in SLO after a long trip down Big Sur. arrived really late. Pete welcomed U.S. and was really friendly and hospitable. Made sure we were comfortable and set. A great place to stop and explore SLO. Easy walk into the centre of town. Pete provided us Some great travelling tips.
Comfortable and great place to stay.
Thanks Pete would have loved to stay longer.
Pete's place is a rustic combination of horticulture and art. It was lovely and Pete was great. The price was a little high, but the location was prime: easy walking into SLO. Probably not the first choice for people with mobility issues seeing as the drive and walks are steep and cobbled with recycled bricks and bits of cement.
Very nice atmosphere, even if we didn't spend a lot of time there. Pete is very accomodating and his garden is wonderfuly unique!

About the Host, Pete
Socially liberal, blue collar person with intense love for most dogs and other critters. Somewhat travelled (Europe, Mexico, Japan), speak a little Spanish and Japanese. Passionate conservationist, artist, sort of jack of some trades.
I am pretty much a vegetarian and have simple culinary tastes. I get a lot of joy working my land and doing artistic projects.
