Rustic and clean resource conscious home with bohemian ambience. One of a kind place full of collectibles and custom constructions/furnishings and a semi wild garden. One shared bathroom with stainless steel shower, custom tiled floor and antique fixtures.
We are a short walk to cafes, sandwich shops, the train station and the heart of town.
Small archery range, bbq set up, many decks and patios to hang out on if desired. Splendid view of the town and our famous Seven Sisters mountain range to the west.
Wine tasting, beaches, hiking (one popular hike is right outside our back gate!) and boating available as well as many musical, cultural and artistic events throughout the year.
Share your stay here with two small dogs and a cat. We would welcome your well mannered animal companions but hope you will manage them.
I stress our passion for conservation, we hope our guests will be thoughtful when using our facilities (long blasting showers drive me crazy-it is such a selfish waste). If we waste resources what will the next generations have?

  • Pete's place might be one of the most amazing places in California.
It was my second time travelling along the Pacific coast, and stoping at Pete's was on the to-do list, with Griffith Park in L.A, the Monterey "Steinbeck" Bay and Mission street in SF.
I will stop there next time, and everytime I have the chance to.

If you are looking for an ordinary, boring place to stay, this is not for you.
If you want to encounter a great human being, to stay in a house that is a unique peace of art and a proof that people can still be moved real human connections, then this is your place.

Half way between SF and LA, San Luis Obispo is a nice little town.
Try and go stop by on the first friday of the month to enjoy Art After Dark, and have a tour of the art galery with food and friends.

  • We greatly enjoyed our short stay in Pete's stunning home! The room is clean and very comfortable, and has great views over the garden and town. The town centre is a pleasant walk away. Pete is very approachable and we enjoyed sharing stories with him. We hope to visit again one day!

  • Wow! What a cool place! It is a huge piece of folk art, including an amazing garden. And our room was located near the top of the property with our own private balcony and sensational view of the sunset. Pete, the owner and creator of the place, is a very interesting guy. We all went out to breakfast together and really enjoyed our conversations. And his lovely little dog kept us company in our room and at breakfast. It was truly a unique and remarkable experience.

  • We stayed over a holiday weekend with Pete and we found the entire stay to be pleasant, relaxing and enjoyable.
The gardens are lovely to sit and relax in, wander through or even dig into..
Our room had a wonderful view, and was clean, comfortable and as private as we needed it to be.
I have not had such a relaxing vacation in years!
Pete is a fantastic host and his home is a place I hope to visit again soon.
A great place to bring an animal companion and we loved the dogs.
We will definately stay here again.

  • The stay at Pete's place was a remarkable experience! His house is actually a whole piece of art and worth to explore! He is a lovable, smiling host who really cares about his dogs.
We loved being part of his life for one sleepover and thankful for the great talks we had with him!

  • Pete was a great host! A warm welcome, great tips, bagel for breakfast--so nice.
We got to stay in the fun room up top with a great view and porch. He even let us use his bike for a quick ride around town. Comfortable accommodations with lots of personality, and decor featuring found objects of all kinds. A very shared space, which worked out super well for me and my friend as we're old couch surfer types. THANKS PETE!!!

  • Pete was amazing! Such a great host, and was so accommodating. My friend and I checked out some local thrift spots Pete had recommended and felt so at home in his gorgeous home. Side note: His dogs are the sweetest and they made our stay even more special.

  • Pete's place was an adventure. My buddy and I came in and he welcomed us warmly into a true masterpiece of a house. Every nook and cranny of this place made me excited to explore further. It was very unique and Pete was kind and personable throughout our stay. Looking forward to coming back here next time I'm in SLO.
