Welcome to my apartment!
It's situated on Upper West Side, in an exciting area with many new restaurants, bars, and stores. It's a large apartment with a nice private bedroom for you, and I'm barely ever home, so you'll feel like it's all yours!
I live by myself in a very large apartment (it was originally 4 bedrooms), and I'm looking to use one of them to host nice people.
I'm on the Upper West Side, ideally situated between Central Park and Riverside Park (both are amazing and just 3 blocks away). I'm also very close to the Red AND Blue subway lines, which can get you anywhere in the city easily. I'm near Columbia University and Morningside Park (a hidden gem that no one talks about). The area is currently flourishing with new bars and restaurants coming in every month -- just in the past month we've got 2 new micro-brew beer bars, a ramen restaurant, a BBQ joint, a French bakery, and a Peruvian restaurant. And parking on the street is pretty easy too.
There is a nice dining room, a spacious living room with a flatscreen TV, a kitchen that you can use, WIFI, a den with a bar in it (help yourself!), and one clean bathroom.
Queen bed with a nice mattress, AC, your own closet, dresser, desk, and subway map on the wall ;) It's very quiet, which is important in Manhattan.
Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as they'd like to.
It feels like a real neighborhood. It's quiet with many parks and local restaurants and bars. There are lots of families in the area, as well as students. However, the excitement is just a few minutes away with a subway or taxi. To me, it's the ideal mix of convenient and comfortable.
There are many transportation options. 2 subway lines, buses, taxis, and most things are walkable anyway.
1. Just treat the place with respect
2. Use a coaster
3. Do your dishes
4. Enjoy yourself
Geoffrey was really kind to us. He received us with fresh bagels and helped us with our luggage on arrival. It was also very patient with our son a year old. We felt like we were in our own home. The apartment is large, light and quiet. And the neighborhood is beautiful, with easy subway access to all attractions.
Geoff was very king. The apartment very clean and spacious. neighborhood is well located and safe.
The apartment was exactly as described, clean and lovely. We loved staying there and would love to come again.
Staying at Geoffrey's was great! He was very accommodating, and his place was very clean and had plenty of space.
Geoffrey is a great host. I had a very pleasant stay in his spacious flat. I recommend it highly!
Our stay in NYC was a very pleasant one. Geoffrey was a nice, quiet host, let us feel at home. Fresh bagels in the morning ! He did not talk too much though, to make a real warm contact, just a question or two in the morning : a little shy maybe ?. We found that the appartment was spacious, convenient but not that clean, as the ad says. The dining room is a very large and nice place to be. However, the kitchen needs a little loving care especially the walls and odors in the fridge... Room was small but ok, the mattress is way too soft for us tall people... Salon was very nice place with the street view below.
I apologize for the smell in the refrigerator -- I had left bag of spinach too long. It won't happen again!
As for not talking much: I am usually very social with guests, but I had the impression you and your wife were looking for a little privacy so I made myself scarce. I actually consider it to be a selling point that I'm usually not around nor intrusive.
As for the mattress, in all the 25 guests I've had, you were the first who didn't like it. The mattress is new and expensive. However, if I get another comment about it, I will certainly replace it immediately.
It was a great experience and Geoffrey was very nice and welcoming. We had a horrible start with another host but thankful to have met Geoffrey who welcomed us in such a short notice.
I grew up in NY, on the Upper West Side, and I'm as passionate about the city as ever. I love sharing all my insider knowledge about NY with people (My friends call me Zagat because I always know what restaurants to hit in any neighborhood). I really enjoy meeting people from other places and from different backgrounds.
Despite being a New Yorker, I'm a very laid back guy. I don't spend much time at home (I work long hours and go out a lot) so I figured why not host some nice people. I'm just a regular guy who likes sports, food, wine, art, and music.
I think you would find that I'm a good host. I have a very large, comfortable apartment in a great neighborhood. I'm fun, mature, clean, and I love to cook (and I'm always willing to share haha). I'm very attentive, and I can tell you everything you need to know about NY and all the insider tricks. If you have any questions, just let me know!
