This cozy cottage is nestled on four and a half acres of beautiful second growth redwoods just outside the town of Trinidad. It is a small and simple cottage with three beds and all the necessities needed to cook. The cottage's main heat source is a wood pellet stove. WIFI service is available, there is no tv/entertainment center, so bring your laptop if you want to.

The space
This 460 square foot cabin is next door to our home where we live with 2 ducks, 5 chickens and Jedryk, our 3 year old boy! Our friendly ducks and chickens roam the property and wander around the cottage frequently. The cottage has a small sleeping loft with a queen size bed that is accessed with a ladder. We recently added a full size Murphy Bed that pulls out of the wall. There is also a very comfortable full size futon. Our home is close by, but there is a privacy fence separating the two, making it feel very private. Behind the fence is your own sunny front porch and outdoor table with two chairs. There is a back porch with a bench overlooking the forest. A small Weber barBQ is also available as well as an outdoor fire pit. The cottage has its own off street parking with room for a 20 ft trailer.

Guest access
A magical forest and a seasonal creek is just outside your back door. This redwood grove is one of the oldest second growth stands in Trinidad. You're welcome to wander the trails through the property.

Other things to note
A fire ring is available beside the cottage. The firewood you can use is marked with white flagging. Help yourself if you'd like to have a small outside fire.

Trinidad, California, United States

We are located just outside Trinidad city limits, a quick 5 minute walk to town will get you to the local market, coffee shop, restaurants, art galleries, wine tasting and shops. There are several beaches within a 10 to 15 minute walk from the cabin. Our property is very peaceful and private. You can hear the harbor buoy bell off in the distance while enjoying the beautiful redwood forest in your backyard.

I like to describe myself as a Humboldt County transplant with deep roots. My parents were born and raised in the area and I have a huge family that has lived in the area for generations. I grew up in CO and UT and moved to Eureka, CA with my mom in 1998. Trinidad has been my hometown for 15 + years. I am a Humboldt State University graduate. I majored in Recreation and minored in Business with an emphasis on ecotourism. Needless to say, I work hard and play hard. I love gardening, learning about medicinal plants and foraging for wild foods like mushrooms and seaweed. My newest passion is being a mama to a four year old boy! I love to travel but I aways look forward to coming home. To me, Trinidad is paradise! I truly enjoy sharing my neck of the woods with people from all over the world!

During your stay
We are happy to interact with you as much or as little as you choose. We will respect your privacy and we hope you will respect ours as well. We leave the ball in your court. Please let us know if you'd like us to greet you and we will do our best to make that happen. We find that some guests like to visit with us and others don't. Either was is fine with us but we try to let our guests be the ones to decide.
