The Space

Looking for a peaceful, memorable stay in a unique apartment with charm?

Escape the noisy tourist crowds of downtown and rent out my entire spacious apartment located in San Francisco's safe & quiet Richmond/Seacliff neighborhood.

Large (by SF standards anyway) at almost 1000 sq feet, my apartment features a huge bedroom, which is about 2x the size of an average hotel room (in fact, the bedroom alone is as large as some entire studio apartments in SF!)

Only a 5-10 minute walk to some of best views in the city: Lands End trail, Baker & China beaches (and Lincoln Golf Course and Legion of Honor). Also about a 5-10 minute walk south to Golden Gate Park. For a longer- and absolutely stunning--walk, you can stroll along with bay all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge (which is next to Chrissy Field, my favorite outdoor part of the city).

Plenty of dining options for all budgets just a few blocks away on Clement Street and Geary Avenue. Richmond neighborhood has a large ethnic population (especially Asian and Russian)-- lots of international restaurants, shops, cafes, etc.

-- Bedroom is spacious (about 17 x 15 feet) with queen Tempur-pedic bed.
-- Living room also large (12.5 x 17 ft) with 37" HD TV and DVD player.
-- Netflix on Roku streaming-- lots of on-demand TV and movies (but no cable TV)
-- Wifi wireless internet
-- Dry cleaner across street (wash & fold laundry service for under $1/pound). Also 3 blocks from laundromat
-- 1 block from Grocery Store; 4 short blocks away from CVS drugstore.

The Neighborhood

The Richmond/Seacliff neighborhood is one of the safest and quietest in the city (away from the dense and frankly, seedy, elements closer to downtown). Traditionally this neighborhood was largely European (Russian)...today it's one of the most diverse in the city, with a range of Asian and other restaurants and shops (including the Clement Street district, which is sometimes called "New Chinatown"-- catered to locals though, not like the ultra-tourisy Chinatown). I'm just a block away from the swanky Seacliff 'hood (where Sharon Stone and Robin Williams were long-time residents).

Getting Around

Located one-block from the #38 Geary bus line (a major artery that runs 24/7) as well as the #1 California line. These east-west buses will take you directly to downtown, as well as Japantown, Chinatown, Union Square shopping (one transfer to almost any other SF location too). For the best information for public transportation, I'd suggest (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps, which provides real-time status and directions (click on the Bus icon for public transport info).

Fyi, within San Francisco, the public transportation is called "MUNI" which includes buses, metro rail, and trolleys (you can also search "SF muni" for maps, schedules, etc). With several stations also inside SF, the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) is a light-rail system that serves the greater metro Bay Area. For example, you can take the BART directly from SFO or Oakland airport into the city of SF (but since my apartment is not close to a BART station, you will either have to take a bus to my house or taxi/Uber/Lyft).

If you'll be taking public transportation a lot, consider getting a "Clipper Card" (search online), which is a pre-paid stored value card. You can use it on MUNI or BART-- instead of fumbling with giving exact change every time, you just swipe the card as you enter (much more convenient). If you'll be using it a lot, they also offer 3-day all access passes ($26) or 7-day passes ($35). Apparently you can order one online to be shipped to your house...or you can buy one here at a MUNI station or various retail outlets like Walgreens or even SFO airport.

Other Things to Note

** NOTE ** Parking spot is on the street (see photo with white Toyota Prius). It is legal to block one's own garage...however the spot requires the use of the small curb so caveat: it's not 100% guaranteed because (very) rarely a motorcycle or tiny Smarte car will use the small section of curb, preventing my spot from being used (feel free to read past guest reviews--virtually no problems with using parking spot). Also note, street cleaning on 2nd and 4th Friday (9-11am).

Originally from the South (VA, GA & TX), I moved to San Francisco in 2000 and still love living by the City by the Bay. A corporate dropout, I'm now a freelance consultant who caught the travel bug somewhat late in life (but am trying to make up for it).

As a traveler/guest, I enjoy exploring new places and usually prefer to wander around by myself to take in the sights, take photos, and mix it up with locals. (I agree with Freya Stark's quote: “To awaken quite alone in a strange town is one of the pleasantest sensations in the world.”) I've traveled extensively through Asia--including China, Taiwan, India, Nepal, and most of South East Asia (probably my favorite destinations)--as well through some of Western Europe and Central & South America.
