The Space

Looking for a peaceful, memorable stay in a unique apartment with charm?

Escape the noisy tourist crowds of downtown and rent out my entire spacious apartment located in San Francisco's safe & quiet Richmond/Seacliff neighborhood.

Large (by SF standards anyway) at almost 1000 sq feet, my place is technically a one bedroom apartment...but has a large dining room that can be closed off with French doors to covert to an extra room/office.

Only a 5-10 minute walk to some of best views in the city: Lands End trail, Baker & China beaches (and Lincoln Golf Course and Legion of Honor). Also about a 5-10 minute walk south to Golden Gate Park.

1 block from Geary #38 (express) and California #1 buses that go directly to downtown to the heart of SF action (Financial district/Embarcadero/Market Street, Union Square shopping, South of Market, Chinatown, etc).

Plenty of dining options for all budgets just a few blocks away on Clement Street and Geary Avenue. Richmond neighborhood has a large ethnic population (especially Asian and Russian)-- lots of international restaurants, shops, cafes, etc.

-- Bedroom is spacious (about 17 x 15 feet) with queen Tempur-pedic bed.
-- Living room also large (12.5 x 17 ft) with 37" HD TV, with cable and DVD player.
-- Wifi
-- Netflix and other Roku streaming (no cable)
-- Dry cleaner across street (wash & fold laundry service for under $1/pound).
-- 4 short blocks away from SF's first Fresh & Easy supermarket (UK Tesco chain).

** NOTE ** Parking spot is on the street (see photo with white Toyota Prius). It is legal to block one's own garage...however the spot requires the use of the small curb so caveat: it's not 100% guaranteed because (very) rarely a motorcycle or tiny Smarte car will use the small section of curb, preventing my spot from being used (feel free to read past guest reviews--virtually no problems with using parking spot). Also, street cleaning on 2nd and 4th Friday (9-11am).

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Mike's been a great host. He was there to greet and welcome us at the apartment and showed us around, answered any questions we had. His apartment is in a prime location since most of the tourist attractions are minimum 10 and maximum 30 mins away. We enjoyed our stay there.

  • Mike's apartment is peaceful and filled with lovely touches - from the ink drawings to the crystals. If you want to experience a nice Victorian apartment in SF, this is a great start (the lever that opens the front door was a cool old touch).

There's a few neat restaurants nearby - I recommend the Mediterranean place and the access to the parks is fantastic. If you're looking to stay away from it all this is a great space.

If you're into partying, this may not be the space for you, since the floors are thin and you don't want to disturb the downstairs neighbors.

Mike was super responsive, flexible and make sure the schedules worked out. I give him an A for communication.

  • I had a great stay at Mike's apartment in San Francisco. Very smooth logistics - Mike met me at the apartment to show me round. The apartment is very comfortable and has lots of room which is great for an extended stay - I was there for two weeks. Having a parking space is very useful and pretty rare in San Francisco. And a good location close to China Beach and Baker Beach - great for a barefoot walk on the sand (with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge) after a long day of meetings! Would definitely stay at Mike's again when I'm back in San Francisco.

  • Mike has a really nice space that was ideally located for all my girlfriend and I planned for our SF trip: minutes to the Legion of Honor and deYoung art museums, and super-easy access over the Golden Gate Bridge to Muir Woods and Pt. Reyes. His kitchen allowed us to cook daily breakfast and simple dinners. Plenty of local restaurants - including one exceptional Thai place - and grocery options within walking distance. The parking space was a valuable bonus. There was a problem with the central heat, but Mike had a solution in place. He met us upon arrival and answered all our queries. Highly recommended, thanks Mike!

  • Stayed/rented Mike Lin's apartment in San Francisco for four nights. We found it clean and as advertised. Mike met us at check-in and was very accomodating which made our first experience with Airbnb a good one. Conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood, the apartment came with one parking spot on the street in front of apartment (a big help in S.F.). We used the kitchen, which was adequately equipped, for breakfasts. I would recommend this apartment for a relaxing, better than a hotel, experience in S.F.

  • Mike's place is perfect for us! We enjoyed our stay at his flat. There is plenty of room for relaxation and enjoyment. The neighborhood felt safe with restaurants and Sea Cliff/Cliff House close by. We never had an issue with parking. We look forward to staying here again in the future.

  • We had a great stay at Mike's place. We took a cab from the airport (was about $60 with tip) and Mike was there waiting for us when we got there. What we loved most about staying at his place was the fact that it was walking distance to Land's End park... from there we saw fantastic views of the Golden Gate bridge, the city, some amazing houses, and the best part: dolphins, seals, and sea otters! It was a bit of a walk, but we also made it to the Golden Gate Park by foot. There are tons of places to eat within walking distance (or an easy bus ride) from Mike's place. We recommend the Garden House cafe, just down the street from Mike's. The owner is the sweetest lady... she found out we were on our honeymoon and brought us fresh strawberries, remembered us the next day and gave us hugs when we left! Nice neighborhood, safe... I'd stay here again!

  • Great location and great host. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. Plenty of restaurants and grocery stores in a very cool neighborhood. Mike was very friendly, responsive, and accommodating. It is an older apartment, but very spacious and clean. It also has a well functioning Wifi, which is not always the case. I would definitely stay here again.
