This is a beautifully designed cottage with traditional plaster walls, tatami and wood floors, exposed beams, high ceilings, and handmade shoji (paper screen doors). Get a taste of the local life and culture in the heart of Nishijin with easy access to Kyoto's many temples and shrines, and the bustling downtown.

The space
This thoughtfully designed space can sleep four people comfortably (1 double bed and 2 single beds, futon(if you need)). A well equipped kitchen will allow you to prepare your own meals in the cottage. You can relax in a spacious bath looking out onto a small interior courtyard. Nishijin is the traditional weaving district of Kyoto, with plenty of sightseeing to do nearby. The neighborhood is clean, quiet and very safe, with many narrow streets to explore. Colorful container gardens, traditional machiya, sento (public baths), neighborhood shrines, cafes and shops abound, with surprises around every corner.
Echoes of older times can be heard throughout the neighborhood. During the day you may hear the rhythmic clatter of textile looms and the tolling bells from nearby Daitokuji. Just after dark you may hear the gentle clacking of wooden blocks reminding people to take care of their fires.
In fall and winter enjoy a hot bath at the historic Funaoka onsen just around the corner. The beautiful scent of plum and cherry blossoms mark the coming of spring. The serene temple gardens are their most verdant in summer and offer a meditative retreat from the excitement of the city.
The nearest supermarket and convenience store are only a five minute walk away.
