The Space

This up valley secluded and private 'retreat cottage' is a light and airy hillside country home w/ 2bdrms (2queens) w/2 baths, lg kitchen, livingrm, sunroom, garden patio. Ideal for two couples or a family with kids. The kitchen is fully equipped to make dinners in, or use the gas BBQ on the patio and eat outside at any of the 4 tables on the deck or in the yard. This is a very quiet neighborhood and this house, surrounded by mature forest, is a non-smoking, no parties or pets (no dogs, cats, or any other animals) relaxing oasis in the heart of the Napa Valley. Sip wine off the deck or in the hammock and watch a colorful sunset after a fabulous day exploring the valley, it's famous wineries and spectacular scenery! The location is only 5 mins. to downtown St. Helena, many wineries, CIA, Tra Vigne, Farmstead and other fine dining, hiking, biking, art galleries, shopping and 10 minutes to Calistoga spas/mudbaths. Must enjoy watching local wildlife (deer/racoons) eat off of backyard!! Very quiet, private yard and secluded for 1- 2 couples, or a small family. (For groups of 5 or 6/ 3rd couple, there is a fold-out sofa bed in the sun room, if one couple doesn't mind not having a private room).

The Napa Valley is enjoyable year round with it's sunny weather, beautiful foliage, wineries pouring their spectacular offerings, art galleries and museums. And you will LOVE the awesome warm mineral pools and spas of Calistoga (7 miles north from here!). So plan to kick back and relax with your family or friends after a fabulous Napa Valley touring day in the lush surrounds of my peacefully secluded garden. The big part of the charm here is the 'get away from it all' serenity and quiet .... so for people planning 'events', please read my 'noise policy' under Rules of the House before booking as this is probably not the venue for you. It's a great area and my neighbors appreciate you respecting their peace and quiet.
There is something for everyone in the Napa Valley....so don't miss the boat (or the 'wine gondola' !) If you're looking for a relaxing, wine country getaway .... come to the Wine Country Cottage as my guest!

  • Karen is a gracious host and her home is very welcoming. The size is more than sufficient for two couples and the outdoor seating areas are great to relax in. We had a memorable trip and were fortunate to stay at Karens home.

  • Karen's Wine Country Cottage was a great find! Fantastic location that is quiet and yet has easy access to charming St. Helena and the rest of Napa Valley. The house was comfortable, clean, and has a great backyard for enjoying some relaxing outdoors time. Karen responded quickly to all messages and provided detailed, helpful directions, including sharing the best guide to Napa's many vineyards!

  • The property is great. We enjoyed our stay! Note the somewhat steep driveway; it's fine for two vehicles but would be hard to fit more. Charming house and very gracious host.

  • Karen was a wonderful host! She responded quickly to emails and sent detailed instructions on how to get to her home. The house itself was beautiful, comfortable, and large enough to accommodate four guests, easily. The home was located towards the hills, far enough away to not hear any traffic. However, it was a 5 minute drive to the center of town where many shops and restaurants are located. This was also my mom's first Airbnb experience and she was thoroughly impressed!

  • Really enjoyed the house. It was quiet, relaxing, and very comfortable. There is a cozy living room to lounge about. And the backyard has a really great porch and lawn area with really comfy furniture and a hammock.

Great location, tucked just outside (<4 miles) of St. Helena, making it easy to ride bikes or have a simple easy short drive into the downtown area.

    Highly recommended.

  • Karen was a pleasure to work with. From the inquiry stage up until we got her place, she was not only professional, but very warm and courteous.

Once we got to the place, there were labels, instructions everywhere so you cannot get lost or confused. The house was large, and photos depict exactly as-is.

Karen is an extremely sweet lady and everyone in my party expressed how amazing she is. We shared many great memories at this home, while experiencing a perfect Napa getaway with friends and family.

I'm a transplant from Los Angeles by way of Sacramento, Eureka, Madrid Spain and the Black Forest, Germany. Took a job in the Napa Valley back in '86 and thought I'd died and gone to heaven! Lived here (in this house) some 23 years, know the Napa Valley well and enjoyed my share of wine tasting, hiking and biking in the area. I love to work around my house and have two great kids (out of the nest- my son is a UC Berkeley and daughter goes to Middlebury College in Verymont) and enjoy skiing, mineral baths, hiking, traveling, great cabs, entertaining friends, gardening and some road biking. It's a great place to live and this neighborhood is stellar!
