The Eureka House is on Eagle Point in Big Bear Lake, a classic mid century lake cabin designed by Tom Yeager in the 1960’s. Less than 2 miles from both Snow Summit and Big Bear Village nestled amongst pine trees across the street from the lake. Eames, Nelson and Baughman furniture fill this cozy home around a wood-burning fireplace looking out vaulted ceiling windows to Big Bear Lake.
Design staying true to its time while amenities outfitted to today. New flat screen, new beds and linens, basically everything you want to be new is new and everything you want to be original is original.
Eureka House sits on Eagle Point, which is one of the safest, well kept neighborhoods in Big Bear Lake. Our neighbors are delightful.
The bedrooms are set up to accommodate most any combination. Bedroom #1 has a cal king bed, patio access & a closet. Bedroom #2 has a queen bed & a full. Bathroom attached, a full closet & dresser drawers. We have a pack & play if needed for a real little one.
The Eureka House is a retreat ready for friends and family.
The entire house, yard & garage.
Interaction with Guests
As much as they need.
Our neighborhood is beautiful, quiet and safe. Walking distance to lake access and parks.
Other Things to Note
We were recently featured in Darling Magazine 10th issue. (website hidden)
-Please take your shoes off while inside.
-Big Bear Lake does not allow parking on the street...we have a garage for one car, and a driveway that will fit 1-2 cars.
-Please leave the kitchen as you found it. Clean dishes & left in drainer is fine.
-We provide your first bundle of firewood...please purchase more firewood if needed at Vons, DIY or anywhere in town.
We had an amazing time staying at the Eureka House. Beth and Michael definitely have a great sense of style and decoration. The house was cool, cozy and super clean. We really loved it, especially my wife who is a designer. We highly recommend staying there if you're planning on visiting Big Bear!
There was an issue with the lighting as soon as we arrived, as well as the TV service. The hosts got back to me very quickly to help with the problems. Unfortunately, the lamp hanging over dining table has faulty wiring (it's very old) and the light went on and off throughout or stay. The lighting throughout the cabin is very poor, old table lamps and reading lamps that cut in and (website hidden) service (Netflix) wasn't connected so we were sent complicated log out/in instructions and chose not to bother. On their site, a photo showed one bedroom having a bunk bed which my son was very excited to use....once arrived, no bunk bed...try explaining to a disappointed 7 yr old why the bed wasn't there, when he saw the photo. The window shade between front door and kitchen was broken and in need of repair, we could not open, leaving the front room very dark and most importantly, not being able to see the beauty of the outside (photo showed the shade up). The living room area photos were also misleading...some items missing (kids log table and different decor around fireplace -the gigantic american flag wasn't in the photo and is kind of an eyesore, in my humble opinion, but love the moose head!) The frying pans were in poor condition and made cooking very hard...everything stuck.
The location was great and the cabin appeared clean and beds comfortable. Nice showers, clean bathrooms. Great fireplace, lots of firewood outside. There were lots of extra linens, books, cards & puzzles, toiletries in each bathroom and a humidifier which is nice if you need to leave the heater on. Beautiful backyard and nice neighborhood to go for a walk.
All in all, a little disappointed with the misleading photos, faulty TV and outdated decor...etc. Do not feel it was worth the $money spent.
Perfectly cozy with great mid century and rustic style. Clean. Very comfortable beds and bedding. Everything you could need in the kitchen. And TV works great with Netflix. We will certainly return when we visit big bear.
Beth and Michael were great host! Easy check-in/out, great recommendations, and awesome location to stay in Big Bear. Their Eureka house was a perfect getaway for my family. They had everything you needed to make yourself feel right at home; well equipped full kitchen, a very handy high chair for our lil guy, a sweet smart tv and all the cozy touches to make you feel warm and welcome. Thank for a wonderful stay and we hope to stay there again soon.
Nice retro shabby chic house on a quiet residential street. Nice linens and beds, well-heated and cozy. When we were there, the second room had two double beds, not a double & a bunk. Super convenient to Snow Summit and Bear Mountain, and the main street (Big Bear Blvd.) where there are lots of restaurants and shops. We stayed with 2 young kids and they really enjoyed the moose and having their own moose bedroom. Beth had some great recommendations for restaurants and activities (the Alpine Zoo is a must if you have little ones). We had a couple of hiccups getting into the house & with the wifi, but Beth was responsive to calls & texts. Thanks for the great stay.
Overall, this is a nice two bedroom home in a good location. It's a clean and comfy home. My wife and son were unfortunately sick when we stayed there, but we were glad to have found the Eureka House. The pictures are fairly accurate, however, the tree stump table was not in the house during our stay. I noticed it in the garage but it was too heavy to move. I'm not sure if maybe they decided to retire that or what. Other than that, everything was as described and would provide for a nice experience.
The hosts, Beth and Michael, were great. From the time I booked to the end of our stay, they were always quick to respond to my questions. I had a problem with the wi fi and they were quick to respond and also checked in to make sure it was fixed (it was),
To sum it up, a nice clean house with great hosts!
Beth and Michael's cabin was an absolute dream. I love the Mid Century style which they've used and their home is exactly as pictured. I stayed for two nights with my girlfriend while we were on a snowboarding trip. The cabin will easily accommodate 6 adults if you're able to sleep 2 to a bed. The master was beautifully appointed with a queen size bed, empty closet for our use, slider access to the covered patio and a full bathroom immediately next door. The second bedroom had what appeared to be two full sized beds, closet space again, a dresser with mirror and an in-suite bathroom. One of the major selling points for me on this particular home was the large u-shaped couch centered around a beautiful fireplace. There is ample room there for a family to lounge and have a lazy day or friends to sit and laugh while they tell stories of their Big Bear adventure. They do have a large flat panel TV in the living room as well which is already set up to their wifi and linked to Netflix, etc.
The cabin is also very conveniently located with easy access to everything in town. Literally the longest drive you may have is 5 minutes and two stop lights away from the home. Snow Summit was one left onto Big Bear Blvd and a right onto Summit Dr. The village is just as close only a right onto BBBlvd.
I can't recommend this place enough. It was fantastic and I hope to visit again soon!
We are a family of 3. Michael, Beth & our son Crew.
We purchased our cabin in Big Bear to escape LA from time to time.
Michael manages a restaurant/ bar in Silverlake & I (Beth) am a mama & own a women's clothing boutique in Santa Barbara, Ca. We are a busy bunch...& this is why we love Big Bear Lake so much!
When we are on vacation we appreciate hip, clean & quality. This is how we have outfitted our cabin in Big Bear. It is very simple & cozy.
