Kate's home is beautiful- and just as she describes, a cozy nook. We were nested peacefully up in the trees, and very close to down town Fairfax, with easy access to West Marin. If you're looking for a laid back, relaxing place to stay- I highly recommend this spot!

We had a lovely stay at Cate's place. She made us feel very welcome with e-mails beforehand and a detailed direction of how to get to her place, restaurants, hiking and ways to get from her house to downtown. The large porch has an amazing view while also being nestled in the trees. We even had the added perk of being able to pick fresh cherry plums from the trees while standing on the deck. It is located within walking distance to town, and Cate gives you a good short cut making it a nice walk. We were also minutes from beautiful trails, just walking right outside her house. The place was clean and the bedroom is open and spacious with a little nook for working with windows looking out into the trees. The kitchen has a big window that looks out into the hills. Cate responded quickly and cheerily to any questions. We had a very good stay!

We absolutely cannot say enough about this darling cottage and our hosts. It is in the perfect location, equidistant from epic nature trails and a little trail down to the town of Fair fax. The home itself it cozy, quiet, and has a beautiful view. Best of all, Cate is an incredibly gracious host, who is accommodating and responsive. We are so looking forward to spending a longer period of time in this sweet hillside abode.

Cate was a great host. She provided a booster seat and a pack and play crib for our little son. She even left a stroller and a baby carrier there for us. She also made sure there were enough toys for our one year old, which made things a lot easier. There are two stairs from the deck going into the garden, which might be important for people with toddlers. We just put deck chairs in front of them and our boy wasn't interested. On the day of our arrival there were eggs, coffee, granola and milk waiting for us in the fridge, which was great cause that meant we didn't have to rush to the shop straight away. There are a couple of local (organic) supermarkets nearby as well as a safeway in the next town (a 10 minute drive from the cottage). I would definitely recommend a car, because it's quite a drive up from the town. The house itself is very cute and cosy and it looks just like in the pictures. I really love the country home style. The deck with the hot tub and barbecue just made our days end perfectly with a glass of some local wine. The neighbours were very friendly and gave us some good advice about the nearby activities. For us, this place was perfect to explore the regional hiking trails, muir woods, muir beach, point reyes, mount tamalpais, stinson beach, highway 1, sausalito and tiburon. We can definitely recommend this place and the host!

The cottage is very clean, comfortable and furnished with everything we would need. The deck has a wonderful view and we went hiking in the hills just up the street. Cate was a great hostess- very communicative and responded to an unexpected plumbing issue immediately. Check-in was seamless. Be prepared for a long, curving and narrow street to negotiate to get there- but the woodsy neighborhood, view and quietude made it worth it. (It wouldn't be something you would want to do several times a day!)

What a special place! From the hooting of owls outside our windows at night to the towering redwoods at every turn...Our family of three had a great month-long stay in Cate and Kristian's cottage. The location was impeccable and in walking distance to both town and hiking trails. Cate and Kristian were attentive hosts and filled with suggestions on things to do in the area. The hot tub was an enjoyable way to relax after a hectic day and our daughter was thrilled with the well-appointed child's room. We would definitely return if in the area again!!

We had a great time at Cates place. Top of the hill which means a curvy drive but top of the hill also meant sunny rolling trails right at the doorstep. Parking was tight, a big car will have difficulty. The cottage itself had everything we needed, warm and cozy with a lovely deck with a sweet little got tub and a great view. Highly recommended. Thanks Cate!
