Angelica was a wonderful host. She accepted our last minute reservation and was very warm and welcoming. When we asked if there was a cafe nearby with internet she even offered to let us connect to her personal internet to check important emails. And when the water heater was accidentally off, her husband showed up within minutes to help us.
The house is almost too big for two people. We left three of the rooms almost untouched. The location is really unique and the view from the master bedroom is breathtaking. And you get to sleep to the sound of waves crashing below.
The village there is very small and cozy and we were the only tourists we ever saw there. We went to Devora cafe for a beer and amazing olives every night... Super cheap and no frills. And no English!
The town right next store is very small and cozy as well and will be where you should go if you want a real meal... As there are a few good restos there.
My only word of advice would be that you MUST have a car. It only takes a day or two to explore these small sleepy villages and if you want to see more of the island ( yes you do ) you need a car to get there. I suppose you could try the bus but they don't seem to run many times an hour.
My only regret is that we had some uncharacteristically stormy weather so the beautiful natural pool was too violent with waves to swim in . Very sad!
Thanks for everything Angelica!
This was a great place to stay! My friends and I wanted to find a place that was outside the fake, touristy areas but close enough to get to a city. This place is conveniently located and has pleasant views. Also a huge plus was the natural pool that is located close by. I highly recommend renting a car to be able to travel around the island as there are not too many things you can do in San Juan de la Rambla if you're there for a week or more.
