A modern apartment, in a century old building situated in a historical neighborhood.
Registered in Alojamento Local
Do you like to mix the old with the new? So you have to check my apartment.
The apartment is in the traditional and fashionable Lapa neighbourhood, in downtown Lisbon, in an early 1900's building.
It was completely renovated and refurnished by me, a designer, a few years ago.
I decided to keep the original rooms distribution but giving it a new twist. As you will see its 40sqm (430 square feet) were really well organized, so it makes the most of the space.
The bedroom its the most original area of the house:
Turn of the century apartments in Lisbon had really small bedrooms that fits one single bed a small wardrobe. So instead of having a small bedroom with a small bed I decided to make the entire bedroom a bed! It has a large king size mattress for 2 that occupies the whole room and it mounted in a stage set 1meter from the floor.
But dont worry, you wont feel claustrophobic because the ceiling is at a very confortable 1,50m (5feet) from the bed.
The bottom part of the stage is for storage, with drawers and lots of space perfect to keep your baggage. Check out the photos to get a better idea.
The living room has sofa-bed (were two more persons can sleep) and a large closet. Next to the living room there is also a nice office space with a desk, chair and library shelfs.
It has a nice bathroom (with tub) and fully equiped kitchen.
Guest will have access to WIFI Internet access (closed network), cable TV with DVR as well as to all of the apartments utilities.
Interaction with Guests
I will be there to greet the guest during check in, to explain all the house rules and functioning, to provide traveling tips in the city and to answer all of the guest questions.
I am also always reachable by phone or email during all the guests stay.
Lapa is a very safe neighbourhood near the Lapa Hotel, International Embassies (Luxemburg, Bulgaria, China) and the Museu de Arte Antiga (Ancient Art Museum).
As for nightlife, the apartment is just a 5/10 minutes walk from the Santos Design District were there are a lot of bars and clubs. Its also a 15/20 minutes walk from Bairro Alto and Chiado.
The apartment is near transportation like Bus and the traditional Lisbon electric tram. The train station to Cascais and Estoril beaches is just a 5/10 minutes walk away.

This is a very family orientated neighborhood, so any deviant behavior will be noticed by neighbors that, if justified, will have no problem in contacting the authorities.
We really enjoyed Ricardo's flat. The neighborhood is quiet, not so far from the Bairro Alto. The bed is comfortable, and the kitchen has everything you could need.
Ricardo was very welcoming, and gave us a lot of tips.
We recommend this flat.
Ricardo is very welcoming. His advices before our arrival were very helpful. The flat is clean, weel-equiped and beautiful. We liked the wooden ceiling and the practical layout of the rooms. The bed is very comfortable and I have a fragile back so I am a good tester. Everything is functional in the kitchen and Ricardo kindly welcomed us with a bottle of wine, a fresh Ice-tea and cookies. There is a very nice fresh market with local specialties at the Mercado de Campo de Ourique, at a 20 min walk distance and a convenient supermarket at a 10 minutes walk distance. We enjoyed the area, there are many embassies around and the houses are really beautiful. We felt secured in the flat, the door has a last generation lock. The antique art museum at the end of the street is worth it and free on the sundays until to 2 pm.
The only drawback was the very noisy upstairs neighboor who walks with heavy shoes and sometimes high heels from 2 am to 5 sometimes! A previous guest gave the advice to use earplugs but it is not enough for stopping the vibrations of the steps or the voices for a very light sleeper like me.
Don't forget to visit Sintra, we wish we would come back for a few more days in this incredible city. Cascais was very beautiful and charming too, the Santos railway station for going there is at a 5 minutes walk from the flat.
Ricardo is one of the most kind and recomendable host we've ever met.
The house is very nice, clean and well organized and absolutely coherent with the pictures shown.
The neighbour is very quiet and safe. Lisbon is a great city, fascinating and it keeps you well in shape too :) since if you decide to walk to the centre you'll have to climb stairs and streets but it's definitely worth the effort. Otherwise they are buses and trams to any destination at 5-8 minutes walk from the house.
I definitely recommend Ricardo and his lovely place!
Our one week stay at Ricardo's has been really wonderfull. Ricardo was here when we arrived, gave us some key advices (taxi, supermaket,...) before and after we met, he was very kind to us. He gave us all the assurances and informations we needed.
The appartment was cosy and functionnal - perfect in one word - for a young couple. Ricardo had bought us some drinks to welcome us, and all the necessary was available.
The neighbour is lovely, more typic and quiet than the very centre of the city. The bus station leading to the city centre and Belem is very close, and a lot of "pastelerias" and restaurants are around. What's more, the Santos train station leading to the beaches is only a ten minutes walk ! To sum up, we spent an amazing time in this appartment !
We really enjoyed our stay in Ricardo's apartment. The location is good, it is in a pleasant area of the city. There is easy access to the centre of Lisbon, either by train or a pleasant 20 min walk, whilst still being quiet at night time.
Ricardo was unfortunately not able to meet us when we arrived but his wife was there, she was very helpful in showing us the flat and telling all the necessary information (we found the map of shops and services particularly useful).
Ricardo's apartment was perfect for the two of us, and very well put together so even though the apartment is small you do not feel at all cramped. We chose to dine at restaurants most evenings but the apartment has all the necessary features to be self sustainied if we wanted (cooker, washing machine, wifi etc).
Thanks very much Ricardo and Leticia.
Just like last year, this was a great apartment to stay in. Ricardo is a kind and helpful host, and the apartment is well equipped and located in a nice and safe neighborhood.
Before arriving in Lisbon Ricardo advised us on what to expect which was very helpful. He was on hand to welcome us to the flat with a great welcome pack of goodies which we thought was very generous he also gave us some local tips.
The apartment was both comfortable and compact with everything that we needed. The apartment stayed cool and felt very secure.
Location wise for a first visit to Lisbon it felt as if everywhere we wanted to go was within easy reach, if not by foot then by bus or tram with the stops just a stroll away. Bus 714 is great for the big station Cais Sodre and for the central square which is magnificent. We felt at the centre of everything.
I love to travel and meet new people. I've visited a great part of Southern Europe, and I've been in Southeast Asia (Macau, China, Singapure and Malasia), New York and Brazil. Hopefully I can get to go increase this list in the next few years.
I also work for Airbnb and I've been part of the Airbnb community since 2012.
