Ana was very accommodating and allowed us to check in early since we had arrived on the island first thing in the morning. We had booked 2 nights but once we arrived we were disappointed with the accommodations as the studio was not what we had expected. The biggest issue was the mattress was way too soft. I can sleep on just about anything but that bed was so uncomfortable we ended up sleeping (w/o much success) on the floor. Prior to booking, I was unaware that there was a tenant above the studio. He played loud music in the afternoon when we arrived and we were woken up to his footsteps and loud conversations in the morning. It was such a poor night sleep that we decided to check out a day early, forfeit our payment and book a hotel room.
Overall, we felt the "studio" was overpriced for what it offered and I would not recommend it to friends. I had read the reviews prior to booking and most of them were positive. My hope for this review is to bring some issues to the attention of the owner so that future guests don't end up in the same situation.
Ana was gracious and helpful, however, it did not make up for what was a very disappointing Air BnB experience.
** AS WE NEVER HAD ANY OF OUR PAST GUEST NOT RECOMMENDING US WE KINDLY ASK FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN OUR PLACE PLEASE READ ALSO OUR ANSWER TO THE ABOVE REVIEW AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
I am really sorry for any uncomfortable experience you have had in our place. We do care to contribute to our guests to have a great and pleasant time on the island. The mattress is a top quality mattress. We bought it a little more than one year ago. WE ALWAYS GET COMPLIMENTS ABOUT IT, as anyone else, can see in the previous reviews . Actually, Jill and Todd, the guest that stayed just one week prior you, mentioned in their review, that our bed was the most comfortable one in between the 4 places that they stayed on the island ( you can see it bellow) . In the upstairs unit, we had only one person, which was the owner of the property. He is always careful with noise as he also cares about the comfort of the guests. But I understand that when you have back pain, as your husband had when he first arrived here, and you can't sleep well, any noise can become annoying and I apologize for it.
The owner didn't agree to refund you for the following reasons:
1) It was the first time someone complain about the bed.
We wish you had contact us prior to make the reservation saying that your husband had a physical issue and more specifically, BACK ISSUE. He needed a mattress for people with back issues.
2) We had the consideration to decline another inquire for a longer staying that was requesting some of the same of your dates before we booked your reservation. We did it just because your INQUIRE came before hers. I did copy such inquire and sent it to you to make sure you knew we were been real. Beside that we gave you 10% off as you have asked.
One more time, I am really sorry for the inconvenience and wish you a beautiful life !
As we host lots of people we know it will never be possible to please everybody, but we aim to continuing trying our best and receive everybody with lots of love and Aloha !
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ana's cottage in Paia. It is a quiet location but still central to town and to the surfing beach. We especially loved the robust breeze that would blow through the studio and the noise the wind made with the sugarcane field behind the house. Beautiful setting. Thanks again!
We loved our short stay at Ana's studio! The place is clean and very quiet, at the end of a road with sugar cane fields out the back. It's a bummer you have to drive into Paia (not walking distance) but for the peaceful atmosphere I think it's worth it. The bed was the most comfortable out of the four places we stayed while on Maui. The breezes coming through the room in the afternoon made for a great nap after getting off the plane. And the fan was nice to have at night. Ana was very friendly and gave us recommendations for beaches and places to eat in Paia.
The studio is quite nice and clean; Ana welcomed us very friendly, she was helpful with tips and recommendations all the time.We loved the gas grill very much!
A little bit far away from Paia you always need the car.
Ana was very friendly and responsive from the get go, including communication via email. She greeted us with a smile, showed us to our room, and gave us a quick overview of where everything was to make our stay comfortable. Everything was very neat and clean.
The studio is about a mile away from the center of Paia town and less than half that from a cute little beach access nook. The unit is comfortable and Ana has it well stocked. Our stay was hassle-free, private and comfortable.
Great little place to get a good nights rest and head out exploring during the day. Ana met us when we pulled in the driveway and was extremely friendly. She showed us around and to our room. The room was very nicely decorated and had everything we needed, including a nice kitchen, plates & glasses, and even a fan. There is also a washer & dryer, which came in very handy! We def enjoyed our stay here! Thanks!
Very nice location, simple but cute studio with everything you need. Quiet area and very close to center of Paia, Ho'okipa, Hana Highway and even good for trips to Upcountry locations.
Very clean and comfortable studio. Located in the heart of Maui, just 2 minutes from Ho'okipa Beach which is my favorite and Mama's fish house. Paia is such a wonderful place to stay, offering great street tacos, organic ground/brick oven pizza at Flatbreads and Mana foods for organic and local organic produce, with tons of variety and delicious foods you can think of. Great breakfast and coffee places all around you in the morning but if you want to be practical then pick up your breakfast from Mana foods. They open at 8am. Lots of shopping around too if you have hundreds of dollars to spend. Ana was also an excellent host, even though I've spent a lot of time in Maui, she gave me some excellent information about Mana foods. Which is awesome!
Ana was a wonderful host. I couldn't have been happier staying at this little studio in Paia for my girlfriends birthday. Even when she was not on the property she was making sure that we were comfortable via text. She had some amazing suggestions & books for us to look at which made our stay in Maui that much more pleasant. She was very flexible with our check in a check out, making sure that times worked well for us.
The place was exactly as advertised. It was in a quaint area of Paia, tucked in a quiet space away from the road. It was the perfect location, just seconds from the road to Hana. Ana was a great host and provided some excellent advice on areas to visit throughout our stay. We would definitely stay here again!
