Very nice place, remarkable hosts, Charming Venice!!!
Strong recommendation! If I go bacl to Venice, I will still live here. ♥
Mara and her family are really nice and warm, they always try their best to solve any problem I had ! It's the best choice stay in Venice/Mestre; especially when it's rains cats and dogs outside, I think I am quite lucky to live here not small dorm on the island. :)
I had such a lovely experience staying at the house in Mestre, Mara provides a clean, comfortable, and serene environment that is close enough to Venice (about a 15 min bus ride) so you can the most out of your time in the city. Mara and her sister were kind enough to pick me up from the airport and also give me a ride back; and made it a point to check in on me every now and then through text. They do not speak much English, but enough for common pleasantries and to explain where things are located and how to use public transportation, so it might be worthwhile to learn a few Italian phrases and convenient expressions for easier communication. And to express how grateful you are for the stay and their help! There is also a cat named Pepi who stays outside but will come by the window every now and then to say "hi". He is the sweetest thing, so if you need some furry love while away from home he is he answer. All in all, utilities worked, the kitchen was equipped and functional (even with some pasta there to greet me) and the bed is comfortable and with many linens to spare. I can't recommend their place highly enough!
Lovely apartment in quiet street, bus stop with direct bus to Venice round the corner. Only drawback is the very thin wall with adjacent apartment, which means that if the occupants have loud voices, you can hear their conversations. Presumably they can hear yours!
A fantastic experience. Mara and her sister was very accomodating. They where very Nice to Pick us up at the airport and to show us the neighbourhood. The flat had everything you need...
I had a great stay with Mara et her Sister, the room was comfortable, the apartment is close to a bus station and subway. It was very fast to be in the center of Venise a very very very nice City. I suggest you address! Enjoy your stay and for me I wish back in june
I stayed in Mara and Fer's apartment for nine nights recently. I have to echo the previous guests and give it 5 stars! I loved the quiet, safe, and convenient nieghborhood, the clean, well stocked apartment, and the rides to the apartment and the airport when you arrive and depart. Really this place is as good as it gets when you consider how much you paid for it!! Clean, comfortable apartment, and wonderful hosts. What more could you ask for? Can't wait to go back!!
Mara's flat is the perfect place to stay for a trip to Venice. I came for research/academic purposes and everything about my stay was the best. I was unable to meet Mara herself because she too had research to do, but her sister Fer met me at the Mestre train station. Not only did Fer drive me to the apartment herself, but she showed me everything from how to use the keys, where the trash was to where the grocery store and bus stop were. The apartment itself is lovely, with good air conditioning, a big kitchen with lots of room to cook, and the bedroom and living room were comfortable and cute! Fer and Mara both checked in with me to see if I needed any help, which I really appreciated. They also left some fruit, wine, and pasta so that I didn't need to buy groceries on my first night! I very much hope that I return simply so that I can stay with them.
Mara's place was perfect for our 7-day trip to see the biennale, the city of Venice, and Lido. Mestre ended up being perfectly convenient by bus to catch the ferry each morning to Venice. The price couldn't be beat and we were glad to have the kitchen to save on costs of eating out. We packed a lot of satisfying lunches thanks to the kitchen and the convenient grocery store in the neighborhood. The air conditioning in this small apartment was a life-saver in the August heat.
Mara's is the perfect place for a couple but could also comfortably accommodate another person in the living space, either a child or a third adult. Mara and her sister were very hospitable and were available the whole week, but gave us our space and privacy. They were very kind to drive us from the airport. If you are willing (or financially obligated) to stay outside of Venice proper, then this is a great choice.
Mara and her sister were so wonderful. They picked us up at the train station which was amazing after 2 months of tired navigating and getting lost. Bottle of wine waiting for us in our little cottage and everything else you could need! It was nice to be out of the crowded city and the bus rides to and from Venice were quite manageable.
