At the junction of the diverse, bustling neighborhoods of Clinton Hill and Fort Greene, my large open-plan 1-bedroom apartment is the perfect base for discovering Brooklyn, the better borough.
Tall ceilings, simple and comfortable furnishings make for a great base when in New York City. The wonderful deck opens to a quiet backyard, perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine after a day full of discovery.
Saturday is the best day to start off with the Fort Greene farmers' market, at Fort Greene Park, a 10-minute walk. I like to go early in the morning, before 9am, where dogs can roam free in the park. Grab some fresh veggies and cook a mean omelette back at the apartment.
In the afternoon drop by the Brooklyn Flea, three blocks away, for knick knacks or vintage prints.
At night, you fall asleep to the sound of the ruffling leaves of the many old growth trees, and wake up to beautiful sun in the bedroom's east facing windows (there is a blackout shade, too!).
I love the Clinton Hill / Fort Greene neighborhood for its diversity of residents, great restaurants and bars, and laid back attitude.
Great neighborhood bars include Fulton Grand and Hot Bird, both with great craft beer selections, as well as cosy intimate bars for a good cocktail, The Mayflower Social, Hanson Dry.
Restaurant-wise, close by spots include Aita, for deliciously fresh italian fare, Salva Vida, a great taco spot, and all of the offerings of DeKalb's restaurant row (Roman's, General Greene, Ici, etc.).
There is a Citibike station right across the street, and the apartment is equidistant from the C and G train stops.
It's also an easy 10-minutes walk to BAM, Barclays Center, Atlantic Center for the 2,3,4,5,B,D,Q,N,R trains for the whole city, and LIRR for eastbound, Long Island day trips.
Wolfgang, my dog, lives with me and is a hypoallergenic Wheaten Terrier, but is away when I rent out the apartment.
Nothing specific to mention!
Make sure to leave the bedsheets and towels in the hamper, and things relatively tidy.
David's place is absolutely fantastic. I met up with a friend from the UK for New Year's Eve in NYC, and having this cozy, beautifully decorated apartment as our home base made the trip so relaxing. The neighborhood is awesome, with tons of great bars and restaurants nearby, and catching the train into Manhattan was super simple as well. David was great about communicating with me throughout the booking/check-in process, and even took time out of his travels in Asia to wish us a happy new year. The apartment has a fantastic open plan (as the listing title indicates), and it's a perfect place to come home to at the end of a long day of touring the city to cook, drink wine, and relax with a book or Netflix. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We had a beautiful time at David' place. We arrived very early in the morning (6:30am!) but David was willing let us drop off our bags and freshen up before we settled in to the apartment. He's extremely knowledgeable when it comes to local bars and restaurants, intuitively understanding what we'd be into and how we'd want to spend our time. He even gave us his jetpack for mobile wifi since we're from out of country and couldn't use our phones. The place was clean, the bed was heavenly, the decor was gorgeous. All in all, David was an incredibly lovely host. Really couldn't ask for more!
David's place was completely as described and more! Awesome apartment and in a fantastic neighbourhood (really close to two subway stations).
David was communicative and friendly, and offered advise and tips as requested.
I would absolutely stay again. We didn't want to leave.
Lovely apartment in charming neighborhood, easy to communicate with host, very clean and comfortable!
It is the perfect apartment. David is really helpful and uncomplicated. The neighbours are also very friendly. You can also use the couch to sleep on. The surrounding in Brooklyn is pretty nice and the subway is nearby to the flat. It is easy to drive to Manhatten or to the airport. If I come back, I will check in again.
David's apartment was great! Exactly as pictured, and David was a great host for my mom. He even bought her an iron and ironing board at her request before she checked in.
I am a French-Canadian, a graphic designer, and an adopted New Yorker. Love to discuss art and politics, and, obviously, to travel. I run a studio that does branding and digital work. I have a bunch of photos of my past trips on flickr (user: humain), where there are also pictures of my a dog, Wolfgang. Too bad he can't join me when I travel abroad!
