Santa Teresa and Mal Pais are towns facing the Pacific Ocean, nestled into the coastal mountains of the Nicoya Peninsula, touching the Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve. Santa Teresa is surfable almost every day (that's why most of us are here!) we're close by to waterfalls and fresh water rivers. Monkeys and Iguanas are seen daily.
Wake up to the sound of nature, grab a mug of our complimentary coffee and mingle outside with the squirrels or fellow travelers, lay on a hammock or just take a 3 minutes walk to the beach and enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches in Central America.
Whether you´re looking for AC comfort or just a hammock in our fruit garden, in Kokua Hostel we have you covered.

In peace and harmony
My friend and I were looking for a place to stay near the beach last minute during high season. We contacted Maximo and he replied right away, and was very helpful with directions and tips before we even booked. He and Fatima (and their darling pets) offer a laid-back, friendly environment with a creative, tropical, environmentally-conscious atmosphere. They also have great taste in music, and seemed able to find an extra tent or bed for whoever showed up. There are plenty of hammocks and communal areas for eating and chilling and bonfires, and they even offer an extra bike for quick errands. The beds and bedding left a bit to be desired, but they said they're working on that. They also don't have a safe-box, but were gracious about storing valuables in their room. Overall, the hosts' hospitality and laid back vibe make this place a great option for the price and the location is very close to good restaurants and surf.

About the Host, Maximo
This is your life. Do what you love, and do it often. If you don’t like your job, quit. If you don’t have enough time, stop watching TV. If you are looking for the love of your life, stop; they will be waiting for you when you start doing things you love. Stop over analyzing, life is simple. All emotions are beautiful. When you eat, appreciate every last bite. Open your mind, arms, and heart to new things and people, we are united in our differences. Ask the next person you see what their passion is, and share your inspiring dream with them. Travel often; getting lost will help you find yourself. Some opportunities only come once, seize them. Life is about the people you meet, and the things you create with them so go out and start creating. Life is short. Live your dream and share your passion.
