Sunny and Green in Silicon Valley

House - Private room · Fairfield Dr, San Carlos, CA 94070, United States

The Space

I have one, sometimes two and once in a while all three bedrooms in my earth friendly San Carlos home available for two nights or longer. It's located mid point between San Francisco and San Jose just off Highway 101 and a 6 minute walk to the commuter train or bus.

I mostly host techies but some tourists too, people from Israel, Canada, Australia, Japan, Kenya, Hong Kong, India, Estonia, China, Thailand, Denmark, Russia, Germany, Sweden, Uzbekistan, Great Britian, Singapore, Belgium, a little place called The US and probably a few I've forgotten!

I share my nice modern home with large kitchen and all the amenities...even a seasonal veggie garden and bird bath. If you do not see 30 birds, squirrels and other forms of wildlife while making for your first cup of coffee, you are not looking.

Warning: the patio can lure you into hours of eating and dining pleasure.

The bathroom has a nice bubbling Jacuzzi tub.

This IS NOT an uptight place. My plates don't match my coffee cups and my forks don't match my spoons.

With few exceptions I accept two people per room only.

I have key-less entry for better security-- code upon arrival. Street parking plentiful Off street parking add $5/day. Pet: add$10/day each. And I must pre-approve your pet.

LGBT friendly! Disability and wheelchair accessible. Great secure doors and windows in a safe and clean neighborhood.
in last kitchen cabinet on left.

Modern forced air heating with smoke and CO detectors

Spare auto inflating airbed

  • You know, I thought hard about any "suggestions for improvement" re: Tim's place, and came up with *nothing*! Tim's house is immaculate while still being comfortable and welcoming (often a hard combination to achieve). I appreciated very much being permitted to cook, and felt lucky to have such a beautiful and well-equipped kitchen in which to do so. The bedroom and bed were very comfortable, and the bathroom was perfect. Tim is very personable and fun to talk to, and I also appreciated his detailed list of (completely reasonable) 'do's and don'ts'. I feel very lucky and grateful to have had my first airbnb experience be so perfect! Thank you, Tim!

  • Tim is a fantastic host and a great man. If I need again to stay in San Carlos, I definitely stay with Tom. He has a great clean home with everything one could wish for in their stay, very comfortable, atmosphere of home. Just like on photos – they don't lie! I appreciate just so soft bed for my back (not too soft as usual in other staying). Very quiet and peaceful neighborhood, space for parking, 5 mins to Caltrain station. Just in the middle between SF and Palo Alto.

  • Tim was a thoughtful and attentive host. I never needed to ask as he had everything you could need. His house was kept clean at all times and it was so warm that I felt like I was back home. Next time you need a place, Tim's house is the place to be.

  • Perfect location. Got to explore the San Carlos downtown and spend an evening at Half Moon Bay. Enjoyed it! Thanks to Tim!

    July 2013
  • Tim is a warm, fun host! His house is clean and ideally located to great restaurants and the freeway. He has everything you'll need for a couple days or weeks.
I was lucky enough to experience him reporting live and in person on local news! What a geat week. Thanks Tim!

  • Another great airbnb experience. Tim should consider his next career in running a full time airbnb. His home is perfect for hosting visitors, the location is amazing and he has some fun stories to share. Thanks Tim!

    March 2013
  • Tim has been a great host in a great house. Very nice stay :)

I could not have expected more.

    February 2013
  • The location is very close to 101, very convenient if you have several places to go. ALso a reasonable distance (short drive, moderate walk) to Cal-train, altho I didn't use it. Layout of the house is amenable to guests; the master suite is to the back, guest room(s) up front. Tim keeps the place spotless.

  • We had a nice & quiet stay at Tim's house. The room & bathroom are neat & clean. Nice neighborhood & easy to find.

    November 2012
  • Cleanliness:
Everything was very clean including the refrigerator, bedroom, bathroom, floors, counters, tables, windows. Clean and fresh is very important to me yet I also dislike the smell of chemical cleaners or an antiseptic sterile feeling. Tim's place has a perfect balance of casual yet clean, green and fresh.
    Communication: Clear, friendly & proactive
Tim left a simple list of clear instructions and tips which really helped me feel relaxed given traveling and changing venues can be disorienting - asking a host numerous questions about basics extends the settling in/adjustment period and is a distraction from just enjoying the stay. Tim was a communicative, attentive, welcoming and professional host.
There are nice touches such as night lights and more I have since forgotten as I was there briefly as part of a long journey. There is a lovely large private patio and garden and large kitchen.
A rare blend of sophisticated urban amenities such as light rail, restaurants (my fav is Sirayvah Organic Thai) and cafes just blocks away from Tim's home nestled in a relaxed cozy tree and garden lined neighborhood with picket fences.
I am a light sleeper and while I arrived after other guests were asleep & awoke before they used the restroom next to my bedroom (so I cannot rate the noise factor in the shared environment) the neighborhood was completely quiet at night in the bedroom I stayed in which was not adjacent to the street. The layout of the house is such that the bedrooms are down a hall away from the living room and kitchen and not next to one another either.

Fun-loving guy, into travel, conversation, animals, cycling, good food and wine. I've hosted guests from all over the world on Airbnb, six continents and 28 nations: techies hoping to make their millions in Silicon Valley and tourists too. I cook a little, especially on the grill and I love fish and pasta. I get regular deliveries of organic veggies and fruits. Enjoy! Hobbies include cycling, running, hiking, bird watching, travel, gardening and ocean diving. You should have a profile and picture to stay here. Tell me something about YOU...are you traveling for fun or business? Do you plan to be in my house working all day on the computer or getting up in the morning and exploring the Bay Area or heading for the office? Afterall, this is my house and I need to know a little something about you. Cheers Tim
