About this listing
This one bedroom is clean, cozy, and in a traditional Chelsea walk-up with restaurants, subways, the West Village, the Meatpacking District and Union Square all close by.
This 1 bedroom apartment in the Chelsea area of Manhattan on the border of the West Village. I'm a journalist and documentary producer who travels a LOT, and while I'm gone I love to host people from around the world.
I love my apartment -- it's cutely decorated and I think it's in one of the best locations in New York. I try to keep the price lower than other, similar places in the neighborhood. I'm an experienced host and guest and just love being a part of AirBnb.
My cleaning lady will be there to let you in if I am out of town -- so you'll be coming into a professionally/just cleaned apartment when you check in.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Couldn't be easier! It is 1 block from the A/C/E, 1/2/3 and L Train, and two avenues from the B/D/F/V. We are just 2 stops away from Penn Station if you're coming in from Newark or JFK on the train.
NEIGHBORHOOD: Chelsea is a great spot for exploring the best of Manhattan and Brooklyn, going on walks in the West Village, Union Square and the Meatpacking District. It's a safe and centrally located neighborhood.
Some details about the apartment:
BEDROOM: There is a very comfortable DOUBLE-SIZED bed with fresh sheets and new pillows. The bedroom is sunny in the morning, but you can pull down the blackout shades if you want to sleep in. The bedroom has an air conditioner installed after May 15th.
The bedroom faces the back of the buildings on 14th Street. Until 11PM on the weekends there may be some noise on the patio The Norwood Club in the adjoining courtyard. (They are required to be indoors by 11PM.) There's also sometimes weddings or parties during the day on the weekend with live jazz bands -- it's actually really nice!
LIVING ROOM: A large, comfortable couch goes around two walls in the cozy living room. It is as big as a twin-sized bed, so can accommodate an additional guest or a child. There is a 32" flat screen TV, cable TV, and an Apple TV with Netflix and other programming to watch. The living room has an air conditioner.
BATHROOM: The one downside to the apartment is the bathroom is VERY small -- it's normal in New York, but surprising to some guests. On the upside, it has new fixtures and a great amount of water pressure. Included are: Shampoo, Conditioner, Bodywash, Towels, Washcloths, Lotion, and a really good new hairdryer.
KITCHEN: I love to cook, so the kitchen is stocked with everything -- high quality pots, pans, knives, wine glasses, a brand new coffee maker, spices and cooking oils and a new gas stove & oven. Coffee, teas, milk and sugar are always there for you. And there's a big fridge in case you want to stock up on groceries.
PLEASE NOTE -- IT IS A WALKUP: The apartment is a fifth floor walkup with no elevator. If you have a lot of luggage or a heavy suitcase, just be prepared to go up five flights. I promise it'll get easier as the week goes on, and you can burn off all your cheesecake.
PETS! I own a small, friendly Boston Terrier who will not be in the apartment. The apartment has been cleaned top to bottom and doesn't have any pet hair, dander or pet smells. That being said, if you're allergic to dogs, this may not be the place for you.
You have access to my entire apartment.
There is a bunch of space in the bedroom closet for you and in the bedroom drawers. This is NY, so storage is small, but I think you'll find enough space for your things.
Some of my personal items have been left behind while I'm out, so please just leave those where they are.
Interaction with Guests
My Airbnb manager Licia will be there to check you in. Outside of that, you'll have the entire apartment to yourself. I am available 24/7 by SMS, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), or phone if you need me, and always try to respond to email inquiries right away before, during and after your reservation.
The apartment is one block from the A/C/E trains and the 1/2/3 trains at 14th Street, as well as numerous buses to the Lower East Side and Alphabet City on 14th Street. The F/M trains are a one avenue (5 minute) walk away. You almost couldn't be in a better location for public transportation.
