This unique rental consists of not one, but TWO fully renovated cabooses. The first has a full kitchen with all of the essentials, dining area and living room. Walk across the covered porch to the second caboose which has a full bath with shower/tub, sleeping area with fold down futon and a bedroom with queen sized bed. The cabooses are minutes away from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Harrah's Cherokee Casino, and the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad. Please take a peek at the photos.

The space
Recently featured as one of the top 25 train rental properties, the Cabooses sit right on the banks of the Tuckasegee River and on the tracks of the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad. Sit on the front porch and watch for Bald Eagles flying over the river. Riverside fire pit and picnic area for roasting hot dogs and marsh mellows. A covered BBQ grill area and another picnic table are available for those rainy days.

Guest access
Guests have full access to both cabooses. Walk across the railroad tracks to access the riverfront fire pit. The tracks also make a nice riverfront trail. Don't worry-the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad trains travel very slowly, you will have plenty of time to get off of the tracks.

Other things to note
SWIMMING/WADING and other activities in and around the Tuckasegee River from our property are at the guests OWN risk. Because of the original design and construction of cabooses, our property is not wheelchair accessible. Please respect our neighbors and obey our 10MPH speed limit on our neighborhood road.

The property is located in a quiet, secluded, riverfront area of Swain County. The cabooses are just 1 mile off of Highway 74 with the last 1/4 mile being a one lane gravel road. The gravel road is fine for all types of vehicles, please obey the 10MPH speed limit. You might even see a bear! Most recently we have had Elk visit from the Great Smoky Mountain Park.

This property allows me to enjoy 2 of my favorite pastimes at once. Have been a train lover since early childhood and am an avid whitewater boater. I can sit on the front porch of my own caboose and watch The Great Smoky Mountain railroad trains go by. I can also sit on the front porch and listen to the sounds of the Tuckasegee River.
