  • After spending a month in and near Guiones, it was nice to settle in at Nosara Retreat for a few days. It's quiet and secluded with plenty of amenities. You are just a quick walk from Playa Pelada, which is a much calmer section of beach than Guiones with wonderful tide pools at low tide. It's a quick 10 minute walk to La Luna. It's 30-45 minute walk or quick and cheap tuk tuk ride back to Guiones.

Nosara Retreat offers a ton of amenities that I didn't even use this time around, but will hopefully in the future (e.g. yoga pavilion). The staff is friendly and courteous, and the breakfast is fresh. There are plenty of hammocks for just lying around, and plenty of space to wander the property.

It should be stated that this is in not luxury. The accommodations are basic but well worth the price you're paying.

  • Our place at The Nosara Retreat was amazing. So close to the beach, fantastic zone to relax in a hammock and read a book. A 20min walk along the beach to Guiones (restaurants, surf) was lovely everyday. Deborah, Theresa and Mandy all made our stay very enjoyable and easy calling tuktuks, set up a visit to SIBU (great monkey rescue), scheduled shuttles to and from the airport. It was a fantastic place up in the trees, howler monkeys right off the deck. Paradise.

  • We had a great week at Nosara Retreat! Thanks for everything Deborah,Marek,Mandy and Theresa! Very good place for me and my little four-year-old. (He keeps saying that place was the best;with monkeys and iguanas right next to us!)

  • Deborah is an absolutely wonderful person. She did her best to ensure I was comfortable, gave me tips on where to eat, where to go and was just a pleasure to talk to.
The room is nice, clean, well ventilated, and has some hammocks outside where you can relax reading a book or just listening to the delicious sounds of the jungle.

  • I traveled all over Costa Rica and this was by far the best place that I stayed at along the way. The Papaya Room in the tree house is amazing. Everything is open air except for the bedrooms. The kitchen, living area, hammocks, and table are all outdoors and amazingly relaxing. If you don't mind the possibility of being woken up by monkeys in the morning, you will absolutely love this place. I personally enjoyed the monkey wake up call everyday, and feeling like I was sleeping in the jungle. Deborah is the sweetest and most caring woman and was incredibly accommodating. She helped us with anything we needed and was more than willing to give us advice on where to go, or even set up activities for us. After surfing hard all day long, Deborah suggested a yoga class in the pavilion on the property to help us relax into the evening. We had an awesome teacher who led us in a first time yoga class. Deborah is amazing and this bed and breakfast tucked up and away in the trees was far better than we expected and an experience of a lifetime. The pictures don't do it justice, you should stay here!

  • Kyle and I loved staying at the Nosara BnB. Deborah and the crew were such lovely hosts and really made us feel at home. They were MORE than accommodating with us and helped us through booking surf lessons, zip lining, as well as info on turtle watching, hikes and other excursions. We loved having the kitchen to make lunch and keep our beers cold. The room was a great size and very comfortable. The beach was a perfect 5 minute walk away. I also took advantage of practicing yoga at the beautiful pavilion. We really enjoyed the wonderful staff at Nosara BnB and are very grateful for their role in our great beach vacation.

  • Deborah's rustic retreat was very quaint with a short walk to the beach. We enjoyed the time we spent in the area and the breakfast each morning getting to know the other guests.
The room is mall and quaint, much like a camping cabin with a rustic bed. However the staff is nice and will help you book several activities and such.

    Bon voyage !

  • Deborah's Arabian Nights retreat in the jungle was just about too good to believe. My girlfriend and I stayed in a room with windows on three sides open to the forest, with the sounds of birds and the distant surf from Playa Palada murmuring through the trees. We heard howler monkeys at dawn and rested in hammocks on an outdoor patio, sipping cervezas while geckos in courtship chased each other in circles. If all this seems verbose, hang on. A short walk takes you down to the beach with an opening vista of crescent beach and cliffs. A stroll down the beach will take you to a calm stretch of shallow sand lined with beached fishing boats (Playa Palada proper) where the surf is soft and pleasant for a good swim. Get a couple beers from Lalo the shopkeeper and have dinner at Olgita's newly-opened restaurant right on the beach, phenomenal and inexpensive home cooking (and she and her family are lovely to meet). We were there two days but the hands pretty much flew off the clock and drifted into deep space. Who knows, maybe we were there a year and just never noticed. Deborah herself is a fine hostess and great to chat with, plenty of interesting stories, serves a great breakfast, and has created a nice pearl of a place to stay. Would go back in a heartbeat.

I came to Costa Rica in 1989 and fell in love with Playa Pelada, the people and the country. The houses we had built over the years served as a retreat for my extended family. For years, we all came together during the Christmas holidays. Inspired by the vibrant tropical colors and beauty of people and local scenes, I painted pictures for each room. In 1994 I started a B&B on the property and a year later, moved here permanently. My dream for many years was to have a healing center. Recently we began hosting retreats. It is my joy to share this healing paradise with you. Deborah
