Great place to stay if you are looking for a quite area in Nosara. It's tucked away and not super close to the really fun parts of Nosara, BUT it is super close to Playa Peladas. The staff is really friendly and the rooms were really clean! Favorite part of my stay were the hammocks outside of our room and all the jungle sounds!

We absolutely loved our stay in the Papaya room. Got to hear howler monkeys and amazing birds every day. A real treat staying in the jungle, and just a short walk to a gorgeous beach. Would definitely stay here again! Breakfast was delicious too!

The place was nice, amazing included breakfast, short walk to the beach. The only negative thing I would say is that I didn't like how the water shuts off after a certain time at night, I believe that's out of their control cus it's the town trying to conserve the water. Not sure what that's all about, but if you're here during the high season, don't try and shower late.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Papaya room at Deborah's Nosara Retreat for a week at the end of December 2015. We stayed until January 1st. The place is great! The room was very clean and the people were amazing. You could here all types of birds, and sometimes monkeys from the room. Nosara gets hot, but the room had a ceiling fan and plenty of windows, so it was perfect and breezy during the night. Deborah was super nice and Ritchie and Gloria also. They were very accommodating with us. They changed their breakfast time to make it work for us because we were surfing at the time they offered breakfast, which by the way, was delicious (coffee, a smoothie, fresh fruits and toasts). There is a beautiful yoga pavilion and you are 5min away (walking distance) from Playa Pelada that is beautiful and a very beautiful beach. You are also close to some very good restaurants in the Playa Pelada area, and 10min away by car to Playa Guiones which offers a lot of other restaurants options, bars, and if you are into surfing, great waves. I would totally recommend Nosara Retreat to everybody!

First off, the grounds are beautiful and the staff is so kind and welcoming. The room was simple, and the outdoor kitchen was really nice. The breakfast was so good! However, my wife and I only ended up staying here for one night, out of the seven that we had planned on. There was no a/c, which wasn't a big deal, but because of that, we had to leave the windows open or it really got unbearably hot inside the room. One of the employees lived below our room, and we felt like he could hear everything we said. There was a lot of road noise at night, because you are right beside the beach road. Not a problem if you could close the windows...but you can't. So, if you are looking for privacy, I wouldn't recommend this place. If you are just looking for a place to shower and crash, great place. And again, the staff was amazing.

The Nosara Retreat is a wonderful place!!! Deborah and her staff are so so so nice and they'll help you out with anything on site/around the area. The rooms are spacious and the spirit of the place brings you closer to the surroundings. Breakfast is great too! Water would shut off at odd times, but the ocean is right there so no big deal!!

I came to Costa Rica in 1989 and fell in love with Playa Pelada, the people and the country. The houses we had built over the years served as a retreat for my extended family. For years, we all came together during the Christmas holidays. Inspired by the vibrant tropical colors and beauty of people and local scenes, I painted pictures for each room. In 1994 I started a B&B on the property and a year later, moved here permanently. My dream for many years was to have a healing center. Recently we began hosting retreats. It is my joy to share this healing paradise with you.
