SUMMARY IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ ALL THIS:
BEAUTIFUL / LIGHT / SAFE / CENTRALLY LOCATED / ELEVATOR / DOORMAN / QUEEN BED + SOFA FOR 1 / WiFi + PREMIUM CABLE / 32" FLAT SCREEN / SMALL KITCHEN / SHEETS + TOWELS/ ACCOMMODATES 2 (3 IN CERTAIN CASES)
Beautiful and light jr. one bedroom next door to the U.N. in Midtown East. On the ninth floor of a historic elevator building with 24 hour doorman, it has a wonderful view of the Chrysler Building.
Beautifully decorated, the apartment features a queen bed in the bedroom. An air mattress is available, as well. Two people can stay here very comfortably, three in certain circumstances.
There is a huge walk-in closet with plenty of hanging space, plus a chest of drawers for your use. A hair dryer, travel iron, and umbrella are available. Please provide your own soap and toiletries.
In the living room there is a large, comfortable couch for lounging or TV watching, a small writing table (can be used as a bar for entertaining), a reading chair by the window and a dining table, too. A bookshelf holds a small, diverse collection of books, and I have maps of the city and subway system for you to borrow.
There is an A/C unit, or you can open the windows in nice weather. Warning: this is New York City -- when the windows are open, it is not particularly quiet!
This is a non-smoking apartment.
High speed internet, 32" flat screen TV, premium cable channels, on-demand movies (some with a small fee). I've also added an iPhone/iPod charger/player.
Small kitchen mainly suitable for warming up food and fixing drinks. Please look at the picture and judge for yourself whether it will fit your needs if you want to cook a lot -- definitely not made for elaborate cooking. All the basics are there: small stove, oven and fridge, toaster oven and microwave, dishes, utensils, pots and pans. Also, ice bucket, bar tools and wine glasses for entertaining or quiet evenings with a drink.
Fresh, clean sheets and plenty of towels are provided, and there are 6 pillows there, some feather/down and some synthetic. Laundry facilities are in the building, and I have laundry soap for your use, or your laundry can be done for you for an added fee.
There is a 24 hour convenience store a few steps away, as well as several around the corner. Within two blocks you will find: a 24 hour drug store, cafe/bakery, dry cleaner, fruit stand, health food store, gourmet supermarket, bank, organic hair salon, post office, and much, much more.
There are many wonderful restaurants and take out places within a block, and TONS within 3 blocks.
From the building it is a 6 minute walk to Grand Central, where you can get a subway to almost anywhere. A bus stop is a 2 minute walk in either direction. It's super safe and secure, with a 24 hour doorman, security cameras within the building. There also happens to be a lot of extra security along the street because of proximity to U.N., but even without all that, it's simply a nice, safe area (though I think almost all of Manhattan is nice and safe).

This was my very first Airbnb experience and it was a good one. Andrea was so helpful and available whenever I needed her. The apartment was exactly as described and fit my needs perfectly. Having an elevator and doorman was great! I was very excited to discover the bed was firm and the block was fairly quiet (by NYC standards). This allowed me to get a good nights sleep every night (not always an easy thing to accomplish in NYC!) The location was convenient for where I had to go and it was fun to hear all the international languages being spoken on the sidewalk (given the proximity to the U.N.) I would definitely stay here again!
The apartment was extremely tidy and Andrea was a very good host. There is lots to do close by and it is very well located for a trip to NYC. The apartment provided a great place to chill out and was full of essentials. Would recommend.
Gaia
This apartment was perfect for my needs: less than five minutes' walk from the United Nations and certainly no more than ten minutes' walk to Grand Central Station. The apartment was immaculately presented and as exactly as - if not better than - described. The clear view of the Chrysler Building was spectacular, both by day and at night. I happily recommend this apartment: Andrea was a fantastic host, who replied promptly to all emails and was available at all times via text, phone or email - no problem was too small. I would be delighted to stay at this most splendid apartment again in future.
My wife and I are highly satisfied with the excellent accomodation in Andrea’s home, not only for the great organization and for the complete conformity to Airbnb’s previsions, but also for the wonderful view of the Chrysler Building which has gone along with us for all our amazing journey. Therefore, my feedback is undoubtedly very very positive. I hope to return in the future.
Staying at Andrea's apartment was great as it was probably even more charming than pictured, it's at a great location and Andrea is a fine host.
We would certainly stay here again if the opportunity arises and recommend this place to everyone.
The appartment is very conveniently located between 1st and 2nd Avenue and very close to the UN and Grand Central. It is very large and the rooms are very big for New York City. It is tastefully decorated and has all the amenities.

I am a 50-something design enthusiast and live part-time in New York so I can be near my three grown kids. When I'm not in NY, I rent out my place on airbnb. I think this site is great and I've met some very wonderful people this way.
I love decorating on a shoestring, combining thrift shop finds with newer pieces. In fact, I was a finalist in Apartment Therapy's Small, Cool 2010 Contest, and againr in Small, Cool 2012.
I hope you will love New York as much as I do! I welcome all and am gay-friendly.
