FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PLACE:
Q: Is it near the subway?
A: You won't find a home closer to the subway—literally around the corner. You don't even need to cross the street to get to it. Noise will not be a problem in the bedrooms.
Q: Do you have an elevator?
A: Nope. We're on the third floor (two flights of stairs). I promise it's not a big deal.
Q: Is the neighborhood safe?
A: Extraordinarily. As is the subway, 24 hours a day. By the Pink, Red, Orange, Brown and Green line.
Q: Do I need to bring towels, a hair dryer, or linens?
A: Nope! I provide all these things. Same with hotel-size toiletries (unless I happen to be out, which is rare).
Q: What does "Flexible" check-in/-out time mean?
A: I will try to accomodate your check-in or check-out, no matter what time it is. Note that early check ins are not always possible if I have a guest leaving that morning, as I need to allow them to check out and prepare the room for you. However, I can usually allow you to drop off luggage, and the room will usually be ready by noon or 1pm at the very latest. If you have a late flight, you are welcome to leave your luggage until at least the late afternoon. Late check-ins, even ones at 2am, are no problem at all (I promise you won't be bothering me).
Q: Will I have a key? Can I come and go as I please?
A: Yes and yes. And I wouldn't trust any Airbnb listing with which this isn't the case.
Q: How do I get the key?
A: Check your reservations details when you book for detailed instructions on accessing the lockbox. Email or text me if you would like pictures as well.
Q: Will I see you?
A: Only if you want to! If you'd rather I didn't exist, I understand. If you want to sip wine and talk about your trip and getting the most out of Chicago, I'm happy to (assuming I'm not slammed with work)! There are also occasions when I have to travel at the last minute. So if I have to skip town for work, I apologize, and hope you enjoy the private apartment!
Q: Do I have a private bathroom?
A: Yes, when you rent out the entire apartment
Q: What's my total booking price?
A: Don't ask me, as I have no idea. With fees included, Airbnb only shows you how much you pay. This figure should be present after you enter your dates.
Q: Can I cook/use the kitchen?
A: Definitely! Leave stuff in the fridge too. Eat from the fridge.
Q: The pictures look pretty cool. Is that how the place really looks?
A: Yes. In fact, the space is actually quite a bit larger than can be seen in the photos. There is plenty of room to stretch out and relax.
Q: Parking available?
A: No. Street Parking is free but very hard to find. I would go to a Pay-for-parking spot nearby
Q: Is the bed comfortable?
A: Very. All brand new Memory Foam beds or premium plush-top.
One last thing: Because you read this entire listing to the end, you get bonus points for your ability to follow directions. To redeem them (for increased chance of booking!) just include the phrase "Bonus points are fun!" at the top of your message. Thanks for sticking in there!

Great apartment! Spacious and clean. Had an issue with the bathroom drain and it was immediately taken care of. Highly recommended.
Sunyoung and Inoh's place had a few issues but ultimately was a decent place to stay. I think the location is great as it is right across the road from the train and not far from many of the places we wanted to be in Chicago. We were there in winter and the heaters all worked fine. We had a few issues come up but at all times Sunyoung and Inoh were very helpful and understanding.
I think there are a few little issues which will hopefully be fixed for future stays. The shower does take a really long time to drain which was annoying with 5 people staying. The lock on the front door does not work very well so we spent a while when we first arrived trying to get the key to work. There are not many things available if you want to cook in the apartment as well. Finally whilst the beds were comfortable mine only had a thin fleece blanket and not much else.
I hope that if these issues are resolved then it would be a really fantastic place to stay.
Sunyoung and Inoh's place is really nice. There was a ton of space, and a lot of natural light. The bed we used (the one behind the screen), was incredibly soft and comfortable. Really easy access to transportation- the brown line is literally across the street. The route 66 bus to Navy Pier literally drops you off at the door to the apartment. There is a Walmart Express across the street for groceries, as well as a Walgreens. For you coffee and doughnut junkies- there is both a Starbucks and a Dunkin Donuts right by the entrance to the train. There is a lovely bookstore back around the corner, behind the building. There is a ton of restaurants within walking distance, plus shopping and such.
Some of the challenges we experienced was that it was cold inside the apartment, but that is easily remedied if you're willing to crank all the heaters up on high. The bathroom is kind of small- the sink is basically in your lap when you're using the toilet. the shower is big enough for two people though. The drain in the shower is awful though- it was badly clogged, and it took forever to drain all the water out of the tub. If you're looking to do some cooking beware- there was a distinct lack of pots/pans. Only one pan, and one pot, to be exact. Both these things have seen better days.. We didn't even use the pot it was so.. Used.
A few noteworthy things- the train and bus run all night, so you'll be hearing it if you sleep in the living room. This place doesn't have a television, so you might want to bring a tablet or a book or something. If you plan to use the internet, make sure the box is plugged in (took us awhile to figure out). The internet runs fast and smooth once it is hooked up. When you use the keys, you need to be patient because they do tend to stick in the lock. Just be firm and you'll be fine with them though.
Personally I liked this place a lot. None of the "bad" was overly bothersome. I would use this place in the future if I were in need of a place to stay. It was relaxing.
The hosts got back to me fairly quickly when I had questions, which is always a major plus.
Thank you for your detailed feedback. We really appreciate it. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the natural light and the location. We hope you come again. We recently put in new insulation to keep the place nice and toasty going forward. We also apologize for the shower drain problem - we have scheduled a plumber to make it work like it's brand new. Thank you for letting us know. And yes, thank you for pointing out about the cookware. New Pots and Pans are coming (so many memories though). We personally prefer the bed facing the windows and tracks with the screen because it feels like Chicago, but those sensitive to noise can take comfort in the two bedrooms with sound-insulated walls. We don't have television because 1) people tend to prefer using the high speed internet to watch movies on their laptop 2) Chicago is meant to be explored 3) Great sports bars nearby to watch the game :) Keys - thanks for pointing that out. I'll be sure to see if we can oil the lock. Please come back next time. Sunyoung mentioned you were an amazing guest and we are glad you have been able to improve our place for future visits.
Great communication and helpful hosts. Location was good for getting around Chicago. Train station across the street was a bit loud. The bathroom could do with a bit of a fix up (shower pressure, toilet flush). Not many utensils in kitchen if you plan on cooking. Check in process was easy and smooth.
Sunyoung & Inoh were great to communicate with and checked to make sure everything was going well during our stay.
I stayed at this apt with my wife and 2.5 y.o. son during a very cold week in Chicago while visiting family. It was perfect.
The apt is quite spacious, close to everything, gets great light (so beautiful watching the snow fall), and very warm. There is also a great restaurant with an amazing selection of local beer just below.
Most importantly, Inoh was a wonderful host. She quickly
Answered any questions and did everything she could
To ensure that our stay went well. We can't wait
To come back --- but maybe when it's not -15 degrees outside.
We enjoyed our stay very much! The location is great, our hosts were flexible, quick to respond, and helpful throughout the entire process. The apartment was very comfortable and as-described.
The restaurant and bar downstairs was a huge bonus! We would stay here again!
It was a nice penthouse. Lots of open space with great natural light. Good location to downtown and convenient store across the street was nice to have. We had a great time and would recommend this location.
Finding a place this size in the river north area was a humongous catch. The memory phone beds were extra comfy, and the pictures are exactly as advertised. Additionally, the apt. is right across the street from Walmart Express, Starbucks, and nearly every major "El" Line, so that was a major, major, major time saving convenience (considering how hard and costly it is to navigate the city). Additionally, we had a miscommunication on the check out procedure and Inoh was beyond accommodating. Definitely reccomend this space for anyone taking the time to read this review!
Great location - was able to walk to my corporate office everyday.
Very minimal - which was fine with me. I needed a place to sleep.
There is a kitchen, which I didn't use. Bedroom and bath is all I needed. I was lucky to get up early - so I didn't disturb the other 2 guests. It worked out well for me.
