Escape to the beautiful Vermont countryside with a stay at this lovely passive solar home, complete with chickens in the yard and cross-country skiing up the road. Wonderful hikes starting right at the house.
This casual farm setting in rural Vermont is perfect for a good night's sleep. There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed, and one with two twin beds (and a futon if needed). Both bedrooms share a bathroom.
We provide our guests with a treasure map of the grounds, and you are welcome to our common living spaces (living room, den, dining room and kitchen). We do not have TV reception, although we do have high speed fiber optics and cell coverage at the house (although not in most places in town).
Interaction with Guests
We are farmers and business folk, so our interactions with our guests are warm and friendly, but limited due to schedules. We provide our guests with breakfast. Additional meals may be available upon arrangement.
The cross country skiing at the Nordic Center is fantastic. Stone Soup restaurant in town is the best kept secret, and Cafe 232 offers a wonderful lunch. Strafford has great walking trails and the Justin Morrill Homestead museum in the village is a gem.
You will definitely need a car. We have plenty of free parking! Follow GPS directions - you will find us in the rolling hills of Vermont.
Other Things to Note
We are a renewably powered farm, with solar panels for electricity, hot water, and a small wind turbine up on the hill. We try to live as sustainably as possible.
We had a delightful stay at the Wolfe farm. The room was cozy and very quiet. Breakfast was delicious. We explored the farm and had a nice walk up the lane.
Very easygoing, welcoming, helpfull hosts.
Uncredible full nature place, totally lost in the "wild" :-)
Very nice village, very authentic.
Delicious braekfast, homemade and with love ;-)
I had a great stay; I recommend!
Dori was very welcoming and attentive. Her description and instructions before and at arrival were helpful and accurate. She made sure our bedrooms were ready to go and left towels ready for us. She was welcoming of my dog and had a very friendly dog in the house. The best part was the amazing breakfast she prepared both mornings. Most of it was harvested from the farm or home made. I loved the blueberry and raspberry muffins, the eggs, and the coffee. She was also very helpful with finding dining options.
Strafford is a picturesque village in the heart of Vermont. Dori and Jeff's farm is lovely, the breakfasts were fantastic and it was a pleasure getting to know the them.
I felt very welcomed at the Wolfe’s. The place is clean and convenient and I got was I was looking for: a good night sleep!
