Relax with the whole family at our largest and best equipped home. Built in 1973, Beaver Ridge is what guests have been requesting: more beds, more space, and more amenities, like central air/heat, modern furniture, including a sleep number bed, and lastly, advanced water filtration. This home sits on the stunning 18-acre ridge of Beaverdam Falls, which overlooks the Falls Basin, Creek, and Beaver Preserve. It has stunning views and connects to the Falls via a 160-ft bridge. Pets stay for FREE.

The space
Nestled in the Alleghany Highlands of the Sweet Springs Valley of Virginia, Beaverdam Falls is an historic series of waterfalls at the headwaters of Dunlap Creek and is the terminus for the Sweet Springs. Surrounded by the verdant George Washington National Forest, our portion at the Upper Falls, displays a constant waterfall of around 40-feet in height and numerous beautiful cascades peppered throughout our creek. The 83-acre private tract of unparalleled Virginia countryside will simply astonish your expectations. As the source of the Falls, Sweet Springs Creek, serves as a long, unique trout stream of calcified rock, chalybeate water, and ancient beaver dams. Beaverdam Falls is a rare place for the lack of stone and the centuries of beavers who have left their trace in & on our creek—and swamp, the Stick Marsh, which has an active beaver dam. Be careful! They do bite!

Guest access
The house, and full 83-acres, but please keep your distance when you stumble upon a campsite or home. There are just a few other sites located on the property, but they are located in different areas and each retain their own privacy. Property is not open to the public but only to reserved guests. This site is a 5-6 minute walk away from the Falls, and is not handicap accessible.

Other things to note
Entrance to this house is separate from the main property entrance. Please use 1216 Kanawha Trail, Covington, VA 24426, & not 1100. The entrance for this site only is located on Cove Creek Rd, not Kanawha Trail (SR-311). The entrance for the house is the first gravel road on your left as you turn on Cove Creek Rd. You will see a Beaver Ridge Sign--disregard other Beaverdam Falls signs, which direct all other guests to the main entrance for all other sites. Pets stay for free.

My work: French Teacher/Entrepreneur
Speaks English and French
Having worked in many areas, I have much of my work experience & time in the service industry: managing at the restaurant level, and in events, & even at wineries as well. Although I love the service industry, my passion has always been teaching. But, I love working in nature, managing natural land, & restoring cars in my spare time. Most recently, I taught French in public schools, managed online learning programs in Richmond Public Schools, & I have my BA in French & Theatre, & my MA in French Literature from UVA. Born & raised in Florida, Melbourne/Ocala are both my home towns, but the Virginia’s have my heart! After finishing my MA & teaching French as an instructor at UVA, I ventured into ecotourism, camping & property/land management for my family properties. Currently, I operate an ecotourism business at our ranch & nature preserve, Beaverdam Falls in Alleghany County, Virginia. We operate glampsites through Tentrr, Airbnb rentals, among other things, & manage other lands & homes in WV and FL. I’m fortunate to do what I love, & to be in the great outdoors. We do not discriminate, & welcome ALL!
