Other Things to Note
For those renting monthly, there is a separate and bright 800 sq ft artist studio also available for rent. It's nestled in the forest yet has beautiful views of the valley, a large stone patio, bathroom, and radiant floor heat.
Grant's cottage was absolutely perfect - it far exceeded my expectations. Cozy and beautifully decorated with everything you need - great books, comfy blankets, fully stocked kitchen for cooking. Plus stunning views. It was very, very hard to leave! I can't wait to return in the summer for a different experience.
Amazing stay!! This place is even more beautiful than the pictures, and much more spacious than we thought. It's clear that the architect was very thoughtful and it feels cozy and rustic yet still luxurious. The soaking tub and rain shower were heavenly. I was grateful every time I opened my eyes in the morning and saw mountains. The place has so much sunlight! I spent some time taking in the artwork. I personally loved the kitchen and we cooked every meal there. We were so happy it snowed while we were up. The hot tub experience in the snow was breathtaking (you will freeze walking there and back, but worth it). We also enjoyed walking around the grounds. It's probably a little sad how much New York City dwellers can value space, sunlit rooms, and fresh air! Cassie's cafe in town had some yummy breakfast and a friendly vibe for our ride out.
I was worried I didn't bring a book, but Grant has a great book collection up there. I read on everything from Buddhism, to civil rights history, to (my favorite) David Sedaris.
Basically, I am inlove with this place. It was the most relaxing and romantic anniversary I could hope for. Thank you!
I've debating whether I should review Grant's cottage or skip it so I could keep his amazing secluded place to myself. That's how great this place is. We stayed two days but wished we could have stayed longer. Coming from the big city this was the perfect way to relax and find the coziness of winter. So, yes. If you see this available, book it.
Thanks again Grant.
We arrived to a bottle of red wine, candles, two pairs of snow boots, and plenty of firewood. Thank you Grant! They enhanced our romantic getaway of sitting by the wood burning stove, relaxing in the hot tub and cooking. The cottage is beautifully designed with lots of thoughtful details (e.g., well equipped kitchen) which made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The listing is accurate with the cottage providing a lot of privacy, comfort and beautiful views. As we drove around the area we saw stunning winter landscapes. As others mentioned, we were glad to have rented an all-wheel-drive. Grant was very responsive and helpful with instructions. The stay truly exceeded our expectations and we look forward to visiting again during another time of year!
I stayed at Grant's cottage for a quick romantic getaway, and it was amazing! The house is absolutely stunning and has a lot of unique details that seem to be custom built. The hot tub was great, the house was comfortable and had everything we needed for a full meals, etc. The property feels very secluded, which we liked. The town was pretty boring, though we were plenty entertained with the media set up and games. You should definitely make sure that your car can handle snow/ice though -- we ended up having to park on the main road and walk a ways to the house with our stuff (100% worth it). We're already planning for when we can come back here next!
We had such a great time at Grant's cottage! We stayed over Thanksgiving with our friends. The kitchen was well equipped to handle our feast and the layout was great for socializing while cooking. We came during a snow storm and were thankful to have an SUV. Once we arrived the place was magical. We had a great view of the snow falling every day we were there. We loved waking up and making a fire; drinking our morning tea. Because it snowed so much, we were even able to take the kids sledding (we found some sleds in the shed)! This little detail made so many great memories. The place is cozy and clean. The only small downside is that the hot tub is not at the main house so we decided not to walk through the snow to use it. We would highly recommend it! Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful home!
I would go back. The house was as advertised and the pictures accurate so you can rely on them when seeing whether the house is to your taste. I really liked the decor and felt very comfortable there. Also, plenty of south-facing windows with tons of sunlight and an expansive view of the valley and mountains beyond.
The place was clean when I got there, a wine basket set up for us and the fireplace was stocked with wood and ready to go.
There are lots of little things to do on the property - take a bath in the soaker tub, gorgeous hot tub, nice yard with pond (although didn't spend much time at that since it was November - must be beautiful to hang out there in the summer), internet and TV to watch movies through Amazon, Netflix, etc.
We cooked the days we were there and there are pretty much all the necessary utensils (except a slotted spoon). There quite a few spices - although I bought my own.
My only complaint is the hot water is not continuous and does run out.
It's definitely a place worth renting for a really pleasant stay. I picked the house for the view, sunlight, hot tub, fireplace, and appealing design. I was happy with it.
