A place guests keep coming back to

Guests describe the farm setting as peaceful and cozy, and many mention returning for another stay
Relax in the circular comfort of the yurt nestled on the edge of woods & farm. 1/4 mile off the main road, enjoy quiet & convenient access to wineries, food, lakes & waterfalls.

The yurt is clean, comfortable, and authentically rustic. Ample space and high-speed internet allow for working remotely or relaxing. Outside, enjoy the gardens, sip local wine on the deck as the sun sets, stargaze, nap in the hammock, or cozy up by the warmth of an evening bonfire, or the friendly farm dog.

The space
ENJOY PEACEFULNESS lounging inside or sprawl out on the deck, which offers a great view of the farm's orchards, gardens, sheep, and chickens, and incredible sunsets. The deck is also convenient for activities like grilling, reading, yoga, or enjoying local wine, among other things. The deck is accessed by climbing 3 stairs.

Inside, there is a very comfortable, all-natural QUEEN BED mattress in the loft with a window to the sky. As pictured, the loft is accessed by climbing a ladder. The loft is not suitable for children - there is no railing. On the main floor, there is a convertible QUEEN FUTON. We are happy to make this bed for guests who prefer not to climb the ladder; however, please consider if this is the best rental for you if that's the case.

There's a large FULL BATHROOM, a SMALL KITCHEN and a WALK-IN CLOSET. Organic LINENS, one set of TOWELS and PILLOWS ARE PROVIDED for all guests.

The KITCHEN has a small oven, stove, full-size fridge and freezer, toaster oven, pots, pans, dishes, cups, oil, vinegar, basic spices, a French press (with instructions), and organic coffee and sugar ready for your use. Aligned with our farm's mission, and to avoid adding unnecessary waste to the waste stream, we provide ample dish towels and a Brita filter. We do not provide paper towels and request that you avoid bringing bottled water if possible.

There is GAS GRILL and outdoor furniture for summer cookouts on the deck.

There's a small FIRE PIT available to yurt guests among the trees next to the deck. WOOD IS PROVIDED.

Heating/Cooling: The beauty and the challenge of the yurt is its simplicity and tent-like structure. There is a wood stove available in cooler months, a space heater, a ceiling fan, and oscillating fans. There is an AC window unit; however, the yurt's minimal insulation can make it tough to heat or cool in extreme weather. Luckily, summers in the Finger Lakes tend to be mild, and nights usually cool down.

The yurt is a special retreat in nature and nestled in the woods at Wellspring Forest Farm. This small diversified operation produces mushrooms, maple syrup, elderberry extract, and grazing sheep and chickens. There are electric fences around farm animals.

There is .6 mile marked Trail just behind the yurt you are welcome to walk at your leisure. We maintain and mow this trail regularly, although in very wet seasons, maintenance may not be possible. For the privacy of our neighbors, we ask that you do not walk elsewhere on the farm unless arranging a tour.

We are located just 12 miles from ITHACA, 12 miles from WATKINS GLEN, and 8 miles TRUMANSBURG, NY, a perfect jumping-off point for the wine, beer or cheese trails, waterfall hikes, restaurant outings, graduation weekend events, the Ithaca Farmers Market and more! Cell phone service can be spotty depending on your provider. Generally texting works, and the yurt has high-speed internet.

We've left a helpful guide to the region for you to peruse during your stay including restaurant info, hikes, swimming spots and more! We can also send you this info once you book if you'd prefer.

Please note:
* We DO NOT ALLOW PARTIES and A MAXIMUM of 4 people and 2 cars total may stay at the yurt.

*Dogs may be considered for an extra cleaning fee and deposit.

*We CLEAN with only, non-toxic, all-natural cleaning supplies between each guest and sanitize door handles. We use Seventh Generation laundry detergent and dryer sheets. If "clean" for you means bleach, chemicals, Tide, Bounty, or other strong scents, this is not the right stay for you.

Guest access
The Grounds and Property: The yurt is nestled in at Wellspring Forest Farm, a small family-run agroforestry farm that produces mushrooms, maple syrup, elderberry extract, and pastured sheep. In warm months, occasionally, the sheep graze near the yurt as they rotate through the 30 acres we graze.

A short distance from the yurt there is a .6 mile TRAIL IN NATURE available to yurt guests. While we try to make the trail available all year-round, seasonally, it may be closed and too wet to pass. The trail is used by guests of our other rental, ourselves and 2 couples who live nearby.

We share our road with our neighbors and request that guests do not walk in other areas of the property. A map in the yurt displays this info.

We ask that children are supervised at all times.

Farm tours are available by request and $60-$90/group fee for an hour.

Other things to note
CHECK OUT - We ask guests to strip beds and put used linens in a laundry bag. This helps reduce germ exposure to the cleaner and enables us to keep our cleaning fees lower (compared to the many $100+ fees that are common).

• WATER - The yurt has well water and a large water filtration system you may hear during your stay. Though it's not needed, we also provide a Brita filter. The water is about as safe as it gets for drinking and tastes as water should - like nothing - although it may taste different than chlorinated water you may drink in an urban environment. To minimize adding to the waste stream, we greatly appreciate you not bringing bottled water.
• SHOES - We ask that the yurt remain a shoe-free zone and recommend you bring slippers to be most comfortable.

Liza and Steve are part-time farmers and consultants. We love our land and this region of abundance and beauty and fun. We spend time enjoying the lakes and woods in the area. We lived in the yurt for 4 years and are excited to have remodeled it to be as comfortable and cozy for visitors as possible. Along with our farm animals, we have one friendly dog on the property named Reishi.
