About this listing
Located in Tacoma, WA. The cabin looks out onto the Puget Sound. The house is built on pilings and the tide comes up under the house. 208 stairs divide the cabin from the rest of the world. This is a unique place for someone who likes adventure.
This is an amazing place built over the water in a historic community. People who come here should be ready to walk up and down 208 stairs. Don't expect fancy--expect beautiful views and the sound of the water. The cabin is clean and cozy with everything available to cook.
Guests are welcome to use the kitchen including dishes, pans, and bowls.
Towels are available.
Interaction with Guests
I will not be present during the stay.
The neighborhood is a community of about 80 cabins. We all know each other and share resources. Please honor the quiet of the neighborhood. Stay on our deck. Keep the gate closed and carry all garbage and recycling up the hill to the garbage and recycling area near the gate.
There is a bus stop 15 minutes walk on Pearl and N. 51st that goes to downtown Tacoma.
Other Things to Note
There is a gate code that I will give to confirmed guests.
I expect guests to honor the quiet of the neighborhood. Carry trash and recycling out.
Clean up the house as you leave.
Wash all dishes used. Wipe down counters and stove.
No smoking. No pets.
The cabin was great. Located right on the water, and worth the excersize of the stairs.
Friendly neighbors, the sound of the water, amazing views of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and the sound.
Am looking forward to future stays.
Kelly is wonderful to work with!
Kelly's place was so comfy and cozy and the neighbors were so friendly! Nothing like the cool river breeze to fall asleep and wake up to!
Awesome cabin. Great location, great space. Quiet and serene. Couldn't have been happier.
I truly fell in love with this place. Kelly made me feel welcome and was readily available if I needed anything. The cabin has an earthy and bohemian feel and might be a little too rustic for some tastes but I loved it. I also loved the stairs in and out of the property, but my companions didn't. My calves were sore from walking up and down them a few times. There was a bit of an ant problem in the kitchen. Again, something that would have been exasperating to some but wasn't that big a deal to me. Also, one thing I think is important to note- I'm pretty sure a dog lives in the house some of the time. I have pet allergies and could immediately feel an itch in my throat when entering the cabin. Someone with more sensitive pet allergies might not have been able to stay there.
My wife and I stayed in Kelly's cabin on the water over Memorial Day weekend - what a fantastic escape (and a major contrast!) from the city! We realized just a few days before our trip that the cabin doesn't have a TV or Internet, so we packed books and board games and enjoyed watching the water from the deck and living room. I can't express enough how refreshing it was to detach. One word of advice: Pack lightly and prepare to experience a workout whenever you take the stairs! We brought our food to eat in each day since nothing beats sunsets on the deck (which is literally on the water!). Kelly's place has a simplistic charm- the perfect compliment to a view that stands on its own.
The reservation was canceled 4 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Well all the reviews are spot on so there is not much else I could say that would contribute to this fantastic hide-a-way. I will say this that I am a repeat customer and can't wait to come back! Thank you Kelly for giving me and everyone else a truly unique place to stay.
