Enjoyed my stay at the Anderson Island Beach Home. Perfect for me because I wanted a stress free quiet space with time to do what I like. Kathy and Glyn are all heart and want to please their guests. With their help I went boating and was able to see mother and baby seals together. Spent some time practicing my fly fishing in the salt water and then Kathy helped me use a paddle boat to fish in the early morning on a nearby lake. Even got in 9 holes of golf. From this large property I could sit near the beach watching the occasional boat traffic with the Cascade Mts. in one direction and beautiful Mt. Rainier in the other. You can even spot the ferry leaving from Steilacoom so you know when it is time to leave.
We spent a month at the Del and it was delightful. We are from the northwest and wanted to return to enjoy its beautiful summers. The island roads are shaded and beautiful for walking. Kathy's property has a great pebble beach and you can beach walk a long way when the tide is partially out. It is also a great place to sit and read and watch boats and seals and harbor porpoises. We had a kayak and many days of calm waters. Eagle Island State Park is a short paddle away and the harbor seals hang out there with their babies in the summer. We paddled all the way around Anderson one day using an incoming tide. We also like the marine trail down to a great beach on the west side. There are some old growth red cedars and lush northwest foliage on the trail. Many friends came over by ferry and could walk on because the ferry dock is only a short walk from the Del. We also golfed the Riviera par 3 each week and ate on the deck at their restaurant across the street. Their food was great and prices very reasonable. The riviera has a Marina that Kathy can use if friends want to visit by boat. There is no other entertainment on Anderson Island but if you love northwest quiet and beauty it is fabulous. The blackberries were thick along the road by the Del and we had a month of cobblers. Kathy is a great host and wants people to enjoy her island paradise. The mobile home is nicely appointed. The furniture is comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need. There is wifi and satellite TV and a washer and dryer. We would walk down to the Johnson Farm on Saturday's where some dedicated volunteers preserve island history and there is a community garden that sells fruits and flowers and veggies in season. There is a museum with photos and interesting tools and other objects that relay many stories of the history of the island. We recommend reading Island in the Sound by Hazel Heckman to enrich your experience when you visit. We loved finding the homes of the original settlers on our paddles around the island. There is a small grocery for your basic needs but you will want to come over well stocked if you are staying long or as the islanders do, ferry over to restock and do city things if you are so inclined. There is a great coffee shop that serves delicious burgers on Mondays. We had many great conversations in the store and coffee shop and restaurant. The locals love their island in the sound. We hope to return to the Del one day and embrace the island life! Thank you Kathy and Glen.
Kathy Brock was a gracious host. The house was charming and spacious for the two of us. She even brought a bath bench to the house for my wife who was recovering from a broken ankle. My Aunt and Uncle, who were visiting the island, came over for Pizza and they commented on how beautiful the view from the house was. It was indeed beautiful, with a view of a small apple orchard and an accessable beach. Thank you, Kathy!
Cozy, comfortable home right on the waterfront of Anderson Island. Kayaks available for rent and had an opportunity to see all the fireworks around the Puget Sound. Peaceful, stress-free being right next to the ferry line up too. Great place to get away from hectic city life. Kathy is helpful and friendly. She organized guest passes to the golf course on the island at our request. Wonderful host, wonderful vacation.
This was a beautiful spot on Anderson Island that was comfortable, well maintained and peaceful. The view from the beach is a must! Kathy was extremely helpful with the booking process on short notice, and providing information on island activities. Can't wait to return for a longer stay!
Kathy is a great host!!!! The dell is a special spot. Note that you can walk right to the beach.

About the Host, Kathy
For 25 years I have been pleased to watch my guests at The Dell, short for Rhododendron Dell, enjoy both the beauty of the Northwest, as well as, all the fun of being on an island in the southern part of Puget Sound.
My guests participate in the same outdoor seasonal activities that my family and I enjoy while on the island: golfing, all forms of fishing, kayaking, canoeing, rowing, sailing, paddle and motor boating, hiking, biking, and swimming in fresh water lakes, beach combing, bonfires and more.
I have been blessed with many returning quests year after year; and, I always look forward to meeting new guests because I know what a wonderful experience they will have on Anderson Island in the Evergreen State of Washington, especially at The Dell.
