A garden one-bedroom, 1.5 bath loft with 180-degree view from Mt. Wilson to the ocean. Walking distance to a French Bistro, coffee house, Irish Pub and the Metro to downtown Los Angeles. Minutes to Caltech, USC, Jet Propulsion Lab, Huntington Library, and the Norton Simon Museum.
With 20-foot ceilings and glass walls facing city lights and mountain scenery, this loft comfortably sleeps two. A gourmet kitchen (fully stocked) and "fireplace" in the living room, make this loft a peaceful retreat.
Guests will have access to free parking, security (key required to access elevator to the second floor), access to all amenities. No pets allowed; however, there is a resident cat who thinks he owns most of the building!
Interaction with Guests
Complete interaction with guests via email and phone. Due to extensive travel, there is limited ability to be present during guest's stay. Unit available during Christmas and New Year's. Price rate increase; however, two free Tournament of Roses Parade tickets and one parking pass are included--on a first-come, first-serve basis. Discussion with specifics upon further email communication.
Officially given the title "the Norman Rockwell Community" . . . pretty much says it all!!
The Gold Line is one block from the unit. Direct line to either downtown Los Angeles or Old Town Pasadena.
Other Things to Note
There is no television available in the unit; however there is free WiFi access--password provided upon check-in. (NOTE: Recent conversations with AT&T, who manage this WiFi account, stated that the guest's server must be in synch with their server. If it is not a compatible match, then AT&T rejects the connection. This will be evident upon guest check in and attempts to utilize the free WiFi. I apologize for this inconvenience--however, now it is clear upon research with AT&T and past guest comments regarding this issue as to why the Internet access was sometimes unavailable.) Two books of "things to do in and around the San Gabriel Valley" are available on the coffee table. Smoking is fine on both balconies only. Thank you.
Relax and enjoy . . . the best kept secret . . .
Judy's loft was as-advertised--spacious interior and wrap around balconies, lots of natural light from large windows, spotlessly clean and well-equipped. Free indoor parking is an added bonus and easily accessible. Location is very convenient--short walk to several restaurants, coffee shops and stores.
Judy is a very communicative and responsive host. She provided clear communication re access to the apartment well in advance of our visit and responded promptly when questions arose. She went the extra mile in leaving us home made muffins upon arrival.
Our only issue was that the wi-fi did not work during our stay. Judy was sympathetic and promised to have it looked at after our departure.
This was my second time to stay at Best Kept Secret, and once again it was just a wonderful accommodation. The condo, furnishings, and patios were just delightful and the hostess (Judy) had delectable surprises in the refrigerator and on the bed. She encouraged me to make myself at home and use whatever was available for cooking and bathing. Being in and around South Pasadena is such a treat. I did not rent a car this trip, but the convenient location of this listing allowed me the ability to walk and explore the shops, restaurants, parks, library, churches, and neighborhoods at my leisure. I would highly recommend this listing as a major contributing factor to a great overall visit.
Judy has decorated this unit splendidly. It is classy but comfortable. The verandas both upstairs and downstairs add to the charm of this place. Everything you need is available in the kitchen and bathrooms, as well as cooling and/or heating control as you need it (and internet access). The lighting is excellent. The bed is comfy. I found the neighborhood quite delightful. Judy's place is just around the corner (within easy walking distance) from the main thoroughfare in quaint downtown South Pasadena. The furnishings, the ambiance, and the location made for a wonderful and relaxing get-away. Judy was very professional and easy to correspond with, and I would highly recommend this Airbnb listing.
ah, the kitchen sponge is located under the sink next to the brush and the cleanser. Sometimes I "hide" things too well!!
Unfortunately there are not separate sleeping accomodations for a second person per se . . . there is the bench seat on the first floor, but I would not recommend it for comfort sake. There is the comforter on the main bed, a white throw on a chair upstairs, and the extra pillows. It would be totally up to your guest. Maybe we could call it "glamping", but it would need approval by your guest if they are game or not . . . I have no problem as long as there are two guests and no more.
Judy was an incredibly gracious host. We used her nicely designed loft as a set for a commercial shoot, and she was very helpful throughout the whole process. Sadly, we did not get to sleep at the house (as we used it for filming) but I imagine it must be a pleasure to do so. The wraparound balcony on the second floor is a feature not easily missed. I could sit up there for hours with a glass of wine looking out over the great vista. It truly is the best kept secret. I would recommend to travelers and responsible film crews alike.
Judy is a great host who will go out of the way to make you feel welcome. Her loft is beautiful and in a great location. Deck space is amazing.
Judy's place was absolutely lovely and so was Judy. Spacious, tons of light and so comfortable and pleasant. Judy was an amazing host - incredibly helpful and generous with her home. Location is great too, walking distance to everything in South Pasadena. A total recommend in every way.
Originally from St. Helena, CA--the most beautiful wine country around. I love to cook and have written a cookbook on breakfast called "Sunrise at Harmony Pond". I love to garden and especially enjoy harvesting the herbs to use in my culinary dishes. I have a collection of over 300 cookbooks from around the world and entertain guests with a "journey in a fine dining experience". I enjoy my 35mm camera and then turning the pictures into note cards. I make soap from lavender grown in my garden. I enjoy picnics and walks in the woods, and visits to the ocean--to take time to listen and observe the sounds of nature. I enjoy exploring parts of America that are "the best kept secret"! So, take time and come enjoy my loft here in South Pasadena--for it is simply one of those best kept secrets . . .
