Shirley was always quick on reply, very clear on information giving, and she charges very reasonable on airport transfer and chauffeur service. I organized the trip for my in-law's family, Shirley was like my agent in Penang to treat them. They had a great time with Shirley, and they even visited Shirley's relative's house once, and cooked meals together sometimes. They said Shirley made them feel at home all the time.
Here are their comments:
Shirley was an excellent host, reliable, sensible,open-minded and easy communicate. Rooms are airy and bright with great view. We enjoyed every moment with Shirley. It was hard to say good bye on the check out day. We wish you all the best.
It was wonderful hosting 罗天老师's family of five. Indeed, it was like a family gathering where we cooked and ate together. I had the opportunity to try 贵州‘s fried rice noodle and tofu. And they liked the tomyam noodle I fried for them. It was an enriching experience where exchangeof culture and information took place. They are great guests, undemanding and easy to get along. Yes, I will make time to drop by 贵阳one of these days.
Shirley is a great host and worried if are getting everything you need, ex: if internet is working, if shower is ok, if you need the bed linen to be changed etc.
The pictures are exactly what you find, room is big (bed, chair and desk) and there’s a space for hanging your clothes as well. Everything was really clean and bed linen was also smelling good.
Breakfast was perfect, since I prefer starting my day with bread and some jelly or butter instead of a heavy meal (asian style). There are lots of places to eat just accross the street and there is also a small market where you can buy drinks or basic food. There is a small park (Bukit Dumbar) and you can go there on mornings to exercise and watch elder ladies practicing Tai Chi Chuan. Beautiful!
Location is the only minor setback of the listing. It’s about 5km to Georgetown and further to other touristic attractions (Gurney Drive, Batu Ferringhi etc). There is a very close bus stop (2 min walk), but I waited at least 20 min for the bus and more 20 min drive to Georgetown. Or you can walk a bit more, round 15 min, and go to a bus stop where there are more buses available. Coming back to her place was easier because if you are at Georgetown practically all buses that go to Jelutong pass by Lebuh Chulia, so you don’t wait long.
Nevertheless, I was a female solo traveler and found very easy and safe to get around (even at 10pm).
If I come back to Penang, I’d definitely stay at her place again! I felt I was home! ☺
A very great time spent at aunty Shirl's place! She's so nice and friendly. Never expect a breakfast as I didn't really read the amenities provided and it was awesome, love the feeling waking up to a homemade-healthy-bread type of breakfast. Never expect such a cozy place and we were in tremendous excitement visiting the room. Such a great view after all. Main purpose staying at her place was to join a marathon event and she is so kind to chauffeur us there, though it's actually her son who coincidentally join too. And she purposely fetch us back from the heavily traffic-jammed running side *feeling touched*. Aunty Shirl also help us in planning our day sight seeing in Penang! She really know Penang so well that she can even memorize almost every name of the roads in Penang! Won't hesitate for another stay in the future! Hope to see you again.
Shirley was a fantastic host, so friendly and accommodating. She went out of her way to pick me up, help me with transport and provide information about the area. Her breakfasts were very tasty, with homemade bread and jam and high quality Chinese tea. The room was exactly as described with a fantastic view. There were lots of delicious hawker centers close to the apartment, and buses to the city center stopping close by. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
Shirley's place was perfect for us. We enjoyed every day her homebacked bread and her inspired advice how to discover Penang and the local food. It was a great pleasure that she, even on her day off, took us for a great sightseeing trip with her car ! She was a perfect host!
We thank you very much, Shirley.
