Brand new house (finished construction less than two years ago!) with all you need for an extended stay in Leon!
Extremely cozy home with full kitchen, dining room, living room, 3 bedrooms (each with a full size or queen bed) and 2 full baths. There is a front and back porch-- either perfect for setting up the hammock and enjoying life!
Kitchen fully equipped with fridge, gas stove, toaster oven, blender, hot water pot and french press, as well as all of the pots and pans you need to prep meals for your traveling party.
The house is located in Barrio Sutiava and is a 15-20 min walk (2km) from the Central Park. It is a very quiet and safe barrio. Great for those that want a real "immersion" experience.
Within a few blocks radius, you have access to a gas station, two supermarkets, several internet cafes, a small market, numerous restaurants and the bus stop to the Las Peñitas beach, which is just 20km away!
This is my home and everything there is available for your use, but please make sure you leave the house exactly as you found it.
No house parties, no smoking inside the house.
A wonderful introduction to airbnb.
The house is as described by Felice. Good location in Barrio Sutiava; we easily walked around Central Leon from here. Lots of stores and restaurants not too far away.
We had a car, which was easy to park inside the gate in the 'driveway' of the home. With a car, the drive to Poneloya was very easy. About 30 minutes and we were on the beach.
Kitchen is perfectly equipped with every pan / utensil / dish / knife you may need! Very nice new stove / oven too.
Overall, a great home in a nice location. We really enjoyed the immersion aspect this home offered as well - great to be in the neighborhood living more like a local.
We stayed at Felice's house for one month and felt very at home there. Our kid loved to have his own room with toys and books. We enjoyed to have plenty of space and a quite backyard where we spent some afternoons in the rocking chairs.
Even though she's not in Leon, she was always available for any questions and her friend Orlando was there to welcome us and help us with everything we needed.
It was very easy to walk to the center of León and we felt completely safe in the neighbourhood even after dark. The house feels very safe.
The bus stop to the beaches is just a couple of blocks away but it still can take up to an hour to get to the beach because you sometimes have to wait for the bus.
We loved the kitchen. We cooked a lot because it was so well equiped. Especially the pans and the french press!
We had water all day but there might be water rationing in León. Ask Felice ahead if that would be a problem for you.
We loved the dog that stayed around the house and accompanied us on walks to downtown. If you don't like dogs, Orlando will take it with him.
Internet was available through a Claro USB modem which had generally good reception in the house. Data packages with Claro are affordable. Ask Felice for more information.
We had a wonderful time there. It was very hard to leave. We'd come back anytime!
A wonderful house just outside of the centro in Leon. We were there for over a month for work and staying at Felice's made our whole trip so much easier/better.
I recently stayed in this beautiful home for a week, along with my husband and a few members of his family. The house is fantastic - very spacious, fully equipped kitchen, 2 bathrooms w/ 2 showers, hot water in one of the bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, and a/c in one of the 3 bedrooms! This place really did feel like a home to us.
One of the rooms is perfect for children: it has books, toys, everything!
There is a front patio and a back patio. In the back there are lots of trees and plants which makes it a beautiful place to relax outdoors!
The house is super secure and is definitely in a safe neighborhood.
There is a grocery store about 5 minutes away by foot, and lots of little shops around that sell all kinds of food. The only thing is that if you're looking to head to the center of town, from here it's about a 20-25 minute walk or a short taxi ride.
It was a pleasure making plans with Felice. She was super accommodating and helpful in suggesting places to go, trustworthy drivers, and much more. I highly recommend this location to anyone traveling in a group! It's a great place to be!
I spent most of the last decade living and working in Central America. After graduating from the Wharton School at UPenn in 2000, I joined the Peace Corps, where I spent two years as an Economic Development volunteer in western Honduras. I then spent a year serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer in North Philadelphia and, in 2005, I moved my 2-yr old daughter and myself to Leon, Nicaragua to work for a small NGO focused on community development and intercultural exchange.
Having fallen love with Leon, I decided to purchase a small piece of property in Barrio Sutiava, which is where we have lived our entire time in Nicaragua. The house was designed with the help of an architect friend and took about a year and a half to finish. I have been thrilled with the result and am confident you will find the house as warm and pleasant as my daughter and I do.
We moved back to the US in summer 2011 and are now happily opening our home in Leon to other world travelers.
