  • I spent one week in this beautiful home. John and Lana are very warm, welcoming and helpful, giving many useful recommendations on how to explore the Bay Area and San Francisco.

Both the house as well as the area around it are beautiful. The house is very nicely designed, cozy, comfortable and tidy with large rooms. Close to the house is a natural resort with some small hills and a gorgeous view over the bay area, which is great for running. The whole area is very quiet and upscale, beautifully located in the hills.

I also liked the overall location of the house. The next city, Redwood City (5 minutes) has a nice and cozy downtown area, with a number of nice restaurants. The house also is only a short drive from Palo Alto & Stanford and San Francisco is not too far either.

Overall, it was a great stay, which I am hoping to repeat, next time I am in the Bay Area.

  • Thank you for the pleasant stay and the great BBQs at the pool. It's been a pleasure to stay at Lanas and Johns home with the 4 other guys. The room is great and works just fine as a part-time office in the bay area, too.

  • Thoughtful & attentive hosts in a fabulous setting. Lana & John's hospitality is exceeded only by their hospitality. They open their marvelous home with care for guests and great attention to detail. Staying in their spotless, ultra-quiet, spacious, comfortable home was in every way: a delight...and I plan to do so again when business takes me near Redwood Shores.

  • John&Lana are some wonderfull host. This is the second time I come to their house which is greatly located near in the hills between SF and Palo Alto. I would stay there again! Thank you

  • Sunny, peaceful house, and hospitable and friendly hosts. John and Lana did their best to make me feel at home, we made and had wonderful lunches and dinners together. Very relaxed ambience, in a great location, I highly recommend staying at the Emerald Hills Resort!

  • Simply one of my best Airbnb experiences. Very comfortable and elegant apartment, great outdoor area with a pool and jacuzzi, separate parking place, perfect location just in the middle of the valley and (what's most important) very kind and caring hosts. Best choice!

  • John and Lana's home is lovely - it was very convenient to Stanford but away from the traffic etc. of El Camino. They were kind and gracious hosts and were very accommodating of my schedule. The room was clean and comfortable and equipped with extra blankets, a fan, a pool towel, etc. The room had tons of closet space and a big desk (and wifi). The bathroom was theoretically shared, but I was the only one using it during my stay.

The pool looked gorgeous - unfortunately I didn't have a chance to use it while I was there.

This was my first experience with Airbnb and John and Lana were helpful to me as I navigated the system. I couldn't have asked for a better initiation!

  • It was an amazing experience living in this House. It's a really great place, very quiet with a wonderful pool ! I really appreciate the hospitality of John and Lana and would love to stay here every time I visit the bay area.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with John and Lana in their beautiful home. They are warm, friendly, good quality people and I enjoyed their company and great hospitality. They were also considerate and very respectful of my privacy.

My good-sized room was clean with a comfortable double bed with four pillows, a large desk and a comfy office chair. Though John and Lana's home is big, John designed it to be energy efficient using passive solar and solar panels. The passive solar helped keep my room warm at night but it never got too warm during the day. My bathroom was shared with their roommate who is apparently rarely there and I didn't see him once during my whole stay.

Next to my room was a 300 sq. ft. den that had a large leather sectional couch and huge flat screen TV for entertainment. Just outside the door is the hotel-sized pool, great for doing laps and the jacuzzi which was wonderful for soaking and de-stressing. At night John and Lana usually have a fire going in their fire pit by the pool which makes for a great atmosphere.

I highly recommend a stay with John and Lana - it truly is a tropical resort except at a fraction of the cost with the added bonus of getting to know two very nice people.

  • This was my first use of AirBnB, and it was great. John and Lana were very hospitable and we had a nice conversation over wine and cheese. They have a beautiful home that John designed, with a great pool in back. The room was bright and clean, with a large desk, fast wi-fi connection, and a comfortable bed. The home in area with twisty, hilly roads great for a run with views of SF Bay. I heartily recommend it.
