Two spacious double rooms in large period house five minutes from Galway City centre, close to all amenities such as Salthill beaches, world famous music pubs, etc. Access to kitchen facilities and terraced garden area incl. Friendly, relaxed hosts and free parking. Enjoy Galway and surrounding areas at your leisure.
The house is very close to the medieval heart of Galway city yet the walled terraced garden area provides a sanctuary from the daily noise of life if need be! Two double rooms provide guests with a comfortable nights rest in order to avail of all that Galway has to offer. The front room can accommodate an extra air mattress should there be more than two guests. Each room can easily accommodate two people so couples and young families would be more than welcome. (A travel cot can be provided for young children)
The house dates from the 1920's and all rooms are double glazed with central heating should you visit in the autumn/
Guests will have access to the Kitchen facilities, the walled terraced garden area and the spacious bathroom. Laundry facilities are also available for a small extra fee (to be agreed with hosts). Free parking is also available. The only space off limits is the hosts living room and music room, although for the musical minded traditional Irish music lessons (Tin Whistle and Fiddle) are available if pre-arranged with hosts.
The hosts will be present during the guest's stay and the hosts will interact with guests if present, kitchen facilities will be shared for example so breakfast can be taken together or not as preferred by guests. The hosts are a young family and are very relaxed and friendly. The hosts also have a cat but he does not have access to guest rooms in case of allergies!
It's only a quick stroll to the Galway Prom from here, so you can have a lovely walk by the sea. But also only literally five minutes walk to some of Galway's best music pubs (The Crane Bar, The Roisin Dubh, Monroe's) and only ten minute walk to Ti Coli's, Ti Neachtain's, Taafe's, The Quay's etc so it's a great central location. The Townhall Theatre is only 15 min walk away, Galway's new Art House Cinema will be even closer than that. NUIG is only ten minutes walk too. Opposite the house is a big field, part of St Mary's boys school but it adds a nice sense of open space to the area. The back garden makes you feel like you are in the country. So really we are spoiled :-
Walking will take you most places. Otherwise there is a bus service in Galway. For intercity travel Citylink, GoBus, Bus Eireann and the train service of course is recommended. The tourist bus to the Aran Islands stops (on request) at a supermarket down the road. Clifden and Inishboffin (Connemara) can be easily reached with the Citylink Bus Service.
Thank you Anna & Ivan. Your home was a great base for adventures in the west of Ireland. We felt very welcome and you answered all our questions and gave great advice to get us on our way. A very comfortable home and only a few minutes walk into charming Galway.
Anna and her little family were a pleasure to stay with! Thanks again for the great tip about The Crane :)
I was met at the door Anna's husband and baby. That spoke volumes about why I like air B&B - somebody has a spare room they are willing to share with others. It was a real home with real people. It turned out Anna knew people I knew - small world. I was very comfortable and had a great chat with both - though my visit was brief.
Anna and Ivan were friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable and we had a great stay.
Anna was an amazing host. Both she and her husband were so friendly and on top of things. I will stay with them again next time I visit galway.
We were three spanish people who went to Anna's house the last weekend, we enjoy the staying there. At the begining I have problems with the wifi but Anna's husband fixed it inmediatly. All rooms and the bathroom were very tidy and clean. All of them was very kind with us, every moment. So we were very happy to had been there. I'll recomend you!
A very nice stay. Easy to get to and a very nice family to stay with!!
Loved staying with Anna and her family. Very sweet! Helped me figure out directions to the West Coast, very much appreciated. Highly recommend.
Absolutely top Airbnb accommodation - warm and homely.
Anna and Ivan are the most friendly, welcoming and considerate couple who'll make any stay just perfect.
I highly recommend them, and as they've lived in Galway for quite a while now, they'll gladly help you make the most of your visit - whether that's a restful break, or something more hectic.
This space was exactly what I needed, especially after spending a week in hostels! I'm sure Anna and her family thought I was a hermit as the room was too perfect to leave too much! When I did venture out of my hermitdom, the city centre is a nice easy walk. The room was quiet, clean and bright. The bathroom was the same. Anna and her husband were kind, welcoming, and very hospitable. I would definitely book again if I ever find myself in Galway.
