Two spacious double rooms in large period house five minutes from Galway City centre, close to all amenities such as Salthill beaches, world famous music pubs, etc. Access to kitchen facilities and terraced garden area incl. Friendly, relaxed hosts and free parking. Enjoy Galway and surrounding areas at your leisure.

The Space

The house is very close to the medieval heart of Galway city yet the walled terraced garden area provides a sanctuary from the daily noise of life if need be! Two double rooms provide guests with a comfortable nights rest in order to avail of all that Galway has to offer. The front room can accommodate an extra air mattress should there be more than two guests. Each room can easily accommodate two people so couples and young families would be more than welcome. (A travel cot can be provided for young children)
The house dates from the 1920's and all rooms are double glazed with central heating should you visit in the autumn/

Guest Access

Guests will have access to the Kitchen facilities, the walled terraced garden area and the spacious bathroom. Laundry facilities are also available for a small extra fee (to be agreed with hosts). Free parking is also available. The only space off limits is the hosts living room and music room, although for the musical minded traditional Irish music lessons (Tin Whistle and Fiddle) are available if pre-arranged with hosts.

Interaction with Guests

The hosts will be present during the guest's stay and the hosts will interact with guests if present, kitchen facilities will be shared for example so breakfast can be taken together or not as preferred by guests. The hosts are a young family and are very relaxed and friendly. The hosts also have a cat but he does not have access to guest rooms in case of allergies!

The Neighborhood

It's only a quick stroll to the Galway Prom from here, so you can have a lovely walk by the sea. But also only literally five minutes walk to some of Galway's best music pubs (The Crane Bar, The Roisin Dubh, Monroe's) and only ten minute walk to Ti Coli's, Ti Neachtain's, Taafe's, The Quay's etc so it's a great central location. The Townhall Theatre is only 15 min walk away, Galway's new Art House Cinema will be even closer than that. NUIG is only ten minutes walk too. Opposite the house is a big field, part of St Mary's boys school but it adds a nice sense of open space to the area. The back garden makes you feel like you are in the country. So really we are spoiled :-

Getting around

Walking will take you most places. Otherwise there is a bus service in Galway. For intercity travel Citylink, GoBus, Bus Eireann and the train service of course is recommended. The tourist bus to the Aran Islands stops (on request) at a supermarket down the road. Clifden and Inishboffin (Connemara) can be easily reached with the Citylink Bus Service.

  • Anna was away during my stay, but Ivan had such great taste and spot-on recommendations that I pretty much ate/drank/went wherever he suggested and had a perfect day in Galway. That being said, this is not the place to stay for someone who looks to closely in the corners of rooms, and one definitely knows that a cat lives here by the smell when one walks in.

  • Anna and Ivan were very friendly and welcoming. The room was large, comfortable and light. Their house was in a nice street and a very safe area. It took only about 15 minutes to walk into town, so we were happy with the location. We were looking for a reasonably priced overnight stay close to Galway town and Anna's place was a good choice.

  • We enjoyed meeting with Anna and her family on our short stay in Galway, she had wonderful recommendations on things to do and see in the City (especially the local music scene) and was always pleasant and very courteous. Her house is located as advertised, a short walk to downtown and a lovely one at that. The room was comfortable and we enjoyed interacting with her and her new son David. Great people in a truly remarkable city!

  • I loved my stay with Anna and Ivan!!!

I would definitely try to book with them again if/when I return to Galway.

Ivan greeted me upon my arrival & was very helpful and easy to talk with.

They have the cutest and liveliest little boy David. Super creative and loving parents!

I was so grateful to be able to experience Galway like a local.

Special thanks to Ivan for the breakfast recommendation and showing me to the seawall/ocean.

Pursuing their dreams and music careers & still being awesome parents, such a hard feat!

  • Our stay was very nice!

Anna and husband were very welcoming, and helpful with anything we needed. The room was cute and comfrotable, the bed was very comfortable.

The house is a short walking distance from anything you need to do in galway, city center, coast area, resutrants all like 10-15 mins.

You can walk (30-40 mins for a nice walk with a view) or easily bus to trad on the prom (which was outstanding by the way).

The only negative I can say is that the shower in the shared bathroom has water output on the low side. So even though the water is plenty warm, I found myself doing the hit-the-cold-spots shower dance while I was in there - but it was not that bad.

Considering the very affordable price, and the lovely hosts, this place was definitely worth it and I would definitely recommend to anyone in need a comfortable and affordable stay in galway.

Not so far from the city center. Anna and her husband were available for any questions or help !

  • I had a lovely time staying with Anna and Ivan (and their adorable baby boy David) in Galway. Their house was in a very nice, quiet part of town and very convenient to all the local attractions. They were very accommodating and sweet during my stay and recommended a trad show that was just what I was looking for. Thank you!
