Private cumfy studio/Diamond Head

House - Entire home/apt · 20th Avenue, Honolulu, HI 96816, United States

Located at the foot of Diamond Head Crater in Kaimuki neighborhood and 5 minute drive to Waikiki beaches. This is a private entry guest house next to my house with its own bathroom, kitchen, Wi-Fi, A/C. Perfect for the backpacker/surfer/adventurer on a budget.

The Space

Great value for someone who plans to enjoy the beautiful beaches, mountains, and culture of Hawaii and needs a quiet cozy place to crash at night. Has all the necessities for a comfortable and convenient stay in Hawaii but not a luxury suite.

Guest Access

10 minute walk to Diamond Head Crater and the famous KCC Farmerʻs Market. Bus line is 5 minute walk and 10 minute ride to Waikiki beaches. I have an extra car available for rental- sweet deal to check out the whole island. I have soft-top surfboards, bicycles, and snorkeling gear available as well.

Interaction with Guests

Iʻm glad to offer suggestions of things to do on Oʻahu. I know anything and everything there is for fun activities since Iʻm also a tour guide. I also speak Francais, Espanol, and Nihongo.

The Neighborhood

This is a quiet residential area with families and the genuine local flavor. Yet, it is still a great location because it is so close to all the conveniences of town, Waikiki, and downtown. Kahala Mall is nearby with supermarket and any shopping you need to do.

Getting around

Itʻs a 5 minute walk to the bus line.
I have an extra car available for rental. The location is prime and close to shopping, beaches, and night-life of Waikiki and downtown.

Other Things to Note

Itʻs great place for 1 person or a couple. There is only one bed to share. If 2 friends would like to stay, I can only offer a mattress for the floor.

  • Lono was a sweetheart! He really made our stay a memorable one. However, if you are someone who is used to the hotels and the busy tourist vacations, this place is not for you. At Lono's it really is the complete feel of what Hawaii should be like. You get the laid back, quaint, and Hawaiian hospitality. Lono was very accommodating to our every need. Everyday we asked about suggestions of things to do that locals do and he was more then helpful to provide suggestions that we really took into consideration. He was also an important component to my surprise proposal when my fiancé decided to have the whole room lit up with candles after a luau on our anniversary. Lono helped set up the room and light the candles for us. We will forever remember and have a special place in our hearts for Lono and his quaint studio BNB.

    Mahalo for everything Lono!

  • Lono's place was great! Nicely located just by Diamond Head. You can head down to Diamond Head beach to catch a sunrise OR a sunset! Pretty easy to catch a bus into Waikiki or somewhere else on the island, or if you're up for a healthy walk you can stroll into the area too. The place itself is quiet, provides everything one or two people might need and is very reasonably priced for Hawaii. Would happily stay here again!

  • I had a great stay here. The studio was comfortable and private. Lono was a very nice & accomodating host. I would definitely recommend Lono's studio to anyone looking for a place to stay!

  • This is a basic cozy studio in a nice residential district and was great for my needs, but certainly nothing fancy. Mr. Lono and his wife were very helpful and attentive. I did not bring and towel and they were nice enough to provide one for me. It is walking distance to the bus and the Kahala Mall; with a 4 day bus pass it is convenient for day trips and other excursions. I would come back again. Sincerely, Alan

  • So I just moved to Hawaii and needed a place to stay while searching for a permanent home. Was really happy I came across this spot, esp for the price. Usually this price will get you a shared room where this was like a large room with kitchen, and bathroom, like a mini guest house. It had everything I needed. Microwave, free range, lots of storage space, a/c unit which worked really well and kept it cool. After traveling so long it felt good to get a key and have my own space. Lono was also a very friendly, hospitable host, a down dude. :) He lives with his wife and cute kids in the house. I ended up leaving an extra day early and he happily just refunded me with cash. And if you rent a car you don't have to worry about parking, there's lots in the neighborhood which is nice in Hawaii. I'd say this place had just what I needed and would definitely recommend it. All in all very happy with it. :)
