About this listing
Enjoy a cozy and peaceful stay with tons of natural light throughout my home on a quiet block in a diverse South Philly neighborhood.
I have one bedroom with a full-size bed for two guests. It is on the second floor with a shared bathroom. You can cook, use wifi and watch cable, wash your laundry, and chill on the patio. My tuxedo cat will most likely talk to you too. I plan to make coffee and have pastries ready for guests each morning.
My home is in a working class, residential area of the Newbold neighborhood. It is very ethnically and racially diverse, and you can grab authentic Vietnamese, Indonesian, Thai, and Cambodian BBQ food. You will also find a strong sense among the black community here with many folks sitting on their stoops and talking to their neighbors. While the area may appear rough around its edges, it's actually very pleasant and friendly. It's important that you feel comfortable being in a diverse and urban area if you choose to stay here.
My home is close via walking and public transit to many things to do and see located on my guidebook. You can walk over to E. Passyunk becoming known as a 'food mecca' for its many restaurants. After a meal, you can walk it off to a ritzy shopping area known as Rittenhouse 20-30 minutes away or use several options to get downtown on public transit to go sightseeing. I am about 4 1/2 blocks away from the subway and near the 2 and 17 bus routes. South Philly is very easy and accessible to get around.
I am a city girl from the Midwest and mostly play soccer, keep my nose in the books, and work a lot lately but can direct you to my favorite places around the city. I prefer to have ladies and couples as guests in my home.
Nicole couldn't be any cooler! Before we got there she informed me that construction was going on in the neighborhood, and also gave me a nearby address to check how far it will be from my concert. when we got there there was a time conflict but no biggie she gave us a great recommendation for happy hour. Ozzie the cat was super cool. Her house is will spaced out, me and my friend never felt like we were in the way. The bed was super comfortable and she was accommodating when he came to the AC. She gave us cool recommendations for food.
I'm definitely going to use her again!
Vielen Dank Nicole!
Nicole was the perfect host! Prior to our arrival, Nicole learned that her brother would be coming to town for a visit. She told us well ahead of time and ensured us it wouldn't affect our reservation. The room is exactly as described and felt like home. We were able to park our car right across from her place and left it there the entire visit. The home is just a few minutes walk from the BSL and a bit further to amazing food on East Passyunk. It's also just around 15 minutes to Citizens Bank Park.
Even before I arrived, Nicole exhibited some great hosting skills. Before she accepted my reservation, she warned me about construction noise next door. I decided it would not be a deal breaker for me so I still chose to book with her.
It was great that she has flexible check-in times because I took the train from the airport to her home & had to make last minute changes (via text message) to my arrival time.
Nicole’s home is nice, clean, & quiet. The room looks exactly as it does in the picture and is truly cozy. I prefer firm beds & pillows so I had a great night's sleep for my entire stay.
Her home is in a working class neighborhood, which gave me a sense of safety. The walk from the BSL got a little sketchy at times but, if you’re familiar with Philly, you know to always be cautious.
Overall, it was a great stay. It was a nice retreat from the hustle & bustle of the city. If you’re looking for a calm & clean stay in Philly, this is it.
Her apartment is very pretty and we really enjoyed our 2-night stay in Philadelphia. I can highly recommend it. She is very friendly and we are glad that we choose her place.
Nicole was a wonderful host! I was only at her home briefly for the night, but she was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Her house is very clean and cute, spacious and quiet, and she has an adorable and very friendly cat. (Note: For those allergic - I looove cats but unfortunately have minor allergies, but the place is very clean and I was not bothered at all here!) She even put coffee on for me and offered bagels in the morning, which was much appreciated.
While I didn't spend too much time exploring her particular neighborhood, it seemed quiet, diverse, and mostly residential. Her house was a short walk or transit ride from the center city (5 minute walk to the metro station plus a 5-10 minute transit ride, 20-30 minute walk, or $7-10 cab ride to the main downtown area.)
Overall very convenient and very nice and Nicole was very friendly and helpful! I would definitely recommend!
A lovely room to stay. The room is exactly the same as it is described in the website: bright, airy, spacious and cozy. We had a wonderful night in Nicole's place. The cat is so cute and not afraid of visitors. It made us like home when we stay there, and Nicole is so helpful to help us with our late arrival. Definitely will suggest friends to stay there when travel of Philadelphia.
